Husband and wife team Robert and Cortney Novogratz are the owners of the design firm, Sixx Design, and stars of Bravo's new docu-series, 9 BY DESIGN. For more than a decade, this young, hip and artsy couple has developed and designed unique properties in Manhattan, rebuilt (from the ground up) entire blocks in the city, and turned funky into fabulous, with every detail considered and executed with the utmost taste, confidence and luxury. Now their lives come to television on "9 By Design," a new Bravo docu-series that will follow the couple's creative business endeavors – not to mention their hectic home life as parents to seven children: Wolfgang, 12, twins Bellamy and Tallulah, 10, Breaker, 8, twins Five and Holleder, 4, and the newest addition to the family, a son, Major, born during the 2009 Presidential Inauguration on January 20.

Sixx Design first took shape in 1995, when Robert and Cortney were a married couple living in Georgia. Both from large families and both with parents who were decorating enthusiasts, the couple moved to New York City.

Creating sumptuous, well-designed spaces from wrecks and empty lots, crafting distinctive architectural details throughout, forging exclusive techniques and finishes, then decorating each room with rare collectibles (both high and low) is the specialty of Sixx Design. Robert and Cortney scour the world for interesting pieces, which they install in every one of their projects.

Together, this couple wears all the hats in developing and executing their striking aesthetic. Their new book from Rizzoli, "Downtown Chic," has just been published worldwide to critical and commercial acclaim.

Sixx Design recently completed, their first non-residential project, BUNGALOW, a 24-room hotel on the New Jersey Shore, which Condé Nast Traveler dubbed “a new reason to hit the New Jersey Shore this summer”, and a 10,000 square foot glass house on Manhattan’s West Side Highway among the Richard Meier towers. The home was featured in the New York Times Home section, a cover piece, "Branding the Family." Both projects feature Sixx Design's collaborations with artists and industrial designers, John Houshmand and Richard Woods, among others.

One of their more recent masterpieces, 5 Centre Market Place, is a conversion of a former gun shop on the edge of Soho. Utilizing their signature mix of vintage and modern, the house has changed the nature of the entire neighborhood (along with the other three houses the couple has converted on the block).

Since the first Sixx Design project in Chelsea, the duo has developed and designed fantastic living spaces in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Trancoso, Brazil, not to mention two fabulous places in Soho on Thompson Street that sold, ultimately, for record prices. The couple is also at work on a six-story townhome for a well-known interiors writer and her family, in NYC’s East Village.
