Tallulah writes a blog about her good friend, Jasmina.

on May 11, 20100

In tonight's episode you will see an event that my parent's had for a good friend of mine, Jasmina Anema. I would like to write this whole blog about her because she was a very good friend of mine. On January 20th, 2009 she was diagnosed with Aggressive NK Leukemia. This type of Leukemia is very rare in children and mostly adults get it. It was really sad when I found out that she was sick and I wanted to do everything I could to help her fight this disease. When she was in the hospital I would go visit her every week. I would also go visit her at home when she wasn't in the hospital. We played games, colored and did makeup and tattoos. Jasmina was a great friend of mine. We always had a lot of fun, even when she wasn't feeling well. I was really happy when my parents decided to have a benefit at our house because Thea and Jasmina needed money for their bills and it felt good to help out and get people involved.

A lot of people came to the benefit and had a great time. She fought really hard and was very brave. The doctors didn't think she would live so long but she was a fighter. Jasmina passed away January 27, 2010. So many friends and family came to show their support at her funural. Jasmina's mom, Thea, asked if I wanted to say something, so I made a speech. I was so nerveous to get up in front of so many people but I did it for Jasmina and Thea. The upside was that Jasmina and Thea were able to save other people's lives by spreading the word of the importance of getting registred to be a bone marrow donor. We all miss her but she will always be in our hearts forever. Please visit oneforjasmina.com and please regisiter to be a bone marrow donor because you can save somebody's life.

For more info about how to become a bone marrow donor, please visit www.oneforjasmina.com
This foundation is set up to create further awareness concerning the lack of bone marrow donors of different ethnicity's.

Only 8% of donors in the registry are African American. The oneforjasmina foundation made it possibly to add over 10.000 donors to the registry.
Because of Jasmina's efforts, there are already 9 lives saved that we know about.

This was incredibly difficult and sad to watch but I am glad this was included in the show. So important that we find ways to help others that have urgent medical needs and so many of us have the ability to help them!! Donating a little piece of yourself can save someones life. Tallulah, I am sure this has been hard for you and I know you have inspired so many people with your sweet, giving spirit to think of others and reach out to them. Much love and many blessings:)

What a wonderful thing you and your family need for Jasmina. Death is very hard especially when it involves such a young person.

I too really enjoy your show - all your brothers and sister are so well behaved and mature. I just loved it when Five kept hanging up the phone after he said "I Love You" during you great trip to London. that was so funny.

God Bless you and your Family - also prayers for Thea

Tallulah,

I agree with what everyone has said so far especially LAWGEEK. I was stunned at the end of the show when it said in Memory of. I am very impressed with you especially at the tender age you are at to go through a friend passing. But I am glad you have happy moments to rember Jasmina and I'm sure you were a big comfort to her mother as well. God Bless you!!

Tallulah,

What a gift you and Jasmina both gave to each other as friends. You are so compassionate which is a wonderful trait that will carry you through life. This experience may be a defining moment that guides you to your life's work but you have a lot of living until then :-).

As a single mom of an amazing 18 year old only child and daughter , your story hit home and provided an opportunity to give. My daughter is heading to college to study nursing and she too was and still is my compassionate little girl who is now all grown up - so she thinks.

Because of you and your close friend I selected the link in your blog to your friends site and then from there headed to marrow.org to join the cause. My daughter will do the same. We have you and your friend, Jasmina to thank.

Little did you know that through your involvement with the show that you could be the vehicle to save lives in honor of Jasmina. Again, thank you and Jasmina.

I did not watch last night's show, but I wanted to say I am so sorry you lost your friend. I know how you feel - I lost a good friend 9 years ago to cancer and it still hurts. But before she died I promised her one thing - something good will happen because of this bad thing. We now do fundraisers in her memory every year, and have helped many people over the years. I would rather have her here with me, but every time we help someone I think about my friend and smile, knowing that I kept my promise.

Tallulah, keep up the good work. I know that Jasmina is watching you and smiling. God bless you and your parents.

You are such a special young lady. I'm proud of you for all that you did for your friend, Jasmina.

My daughter is 11 years old. She's an only child. She watches your show because she wishes she was in your place: with so many brothers and a sister. Can you please send her the "top ten reasons" she should be glad she's an only child?

We're big fans of you and your entire family!

Tallulah, I didn't expect to see a blog from you... However I'm so thrilled to see your comments and I love your heart, which comes through on the show. I watch 9byDesign with my daughters who are teenagers and we all fill that you are the level headed thinker in the family. Maybe a career as a Journalist is in your future. Keep up the blog you're doing a great job.

Super sweet and intelligent blog Tallulah! It is evident that your parents are teaching you the right things about being a true friend and sticking by your friends' side even during her toughest moments. You are a great kid and sister - indeed, you seem like the stable force (or the "glue") between the other 7 wonderful kids just because of your true ability to reason fairly and generously with the others. Keep up the good work!

You are a very sweet young girl and have written a wonderful blog. So sorry for your friend Jasmina. I lost my cousin Tessa to leukemia in 1996 she was only 9. It was hard bcs she was my best friend. Now I'm 23 and sometimes I wonder what it would have been like is she was alive as well. We had so many plans when we were young. Plans to go to college together, move in together and just be plain fabulous together. I always thought of being a bone marrow donor for a long time and I'm definitely rethinking it. Thank you for being so brave and while you are a young lady you are also very mature to bring up such a sad moment in your life. Thank You!!

God Bless Your friend Jasmina!
