Amy Poehler
Amy Poehler, currently in her third season on SNL, began her first season as a featured player and was upped to repertory cast in January 2002.
Poehler has played the combative wife of Chris Kattan's science loving trailer park husband, "Amber" the one-legged contestant on "DisMissed" and the "Playboy Search for the Girl Next Door" parodies as well as memorable impressions of Kelly Ripa, Avril Lavigne, Sharon Osbourne, Julia Roberts and Tonya Harding. Poehler also garnered attention playing a world-weary Barbie opposite host Britney Spears as Skipper.
Poehler joined the SNL cast from the Upright Citizens Brigade, a sketch/improv troupe originally formed in Chicago.
Poehler and the U.C.B. relocated to New York where they had a sketch show on Comedy Central for three seasons on which she was both a writer and performer. In addition, they opened a theater currently regarded as the premiere sketch/improv comedy venue in New York City.
Poehler has made memorable appearances on television ranging from "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" (as recurring character "Stacey," Andy Richter's little sister) and "Undeclared." She will soon be seen opposite Jack Black in Barry Levinson's "Envy." She has appeared in the films "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" "Wet Hot American Summer," and the forthcoming "Devil and Daniel Webster" with Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins.
Poehler is married and lives in New York City. Her birthday is September 16.
