Bravo explores the career of an actress who has literally grown up in front of the camera, when Drew Barrymore joins host James Lipton on “Inside the Actors Studio.” The daughter and granddaughter of acting legends, former child star, and now star of the film “Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle,” shares her life and craft.
At twenty-seven years of age, Drew Barrymore is one of the youngest actresses to appear on “Inside the Actors Studio.” However, she was only eleven months old when she had her first acting job a dog food commercial.
Barrymore shares the legacy of her lineage and her relationship with director Steven Spielberg. We hear how she landed her career defining part as Gertie in Spielberg's “ET,” and the special gift which he gave her after she posed nude in Playboy Magazine.
Barrymore discusses other career highlights, such as “Irreconcilable Differences,” which earned her a Golden Globe nomination at the age of nine, her first sexy role in “Poison Ivy,” “Bad Girls,” which she credits as a life-changing experience, “Mad Love,” “The Wedding Singer,” “Ever After” and “Charlie's Angels” which she also produced.
Barrymore opens up about her substance abuse problems, which landed her in rehabilitation for over a year at the age of thirteen. She even shares her substance use timeline, including smoking her first cigarette at nine, having her first alcoholic drink at eleven, smoking marijuana at twelve and doing cocaine at thirteen.
Against numerous odds she has rebounded and blossomed into one of Hollywood's most successful young actresses and producers. On “Inside the Actors Studio: Drew Barrymore” we learn how Drew became involved with the feature film version of “Charlie's Angels,” a box office smash which lead to this summer's much anticipated sequel “Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.”
