Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum, 32, is a star of the fashion world. Having established herself as a top model, making great impact for such clients as Victoria’s Secret and on the covers of such pop-culture mainstays as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, Heidi’s career has taken many new directions.
Heidi’s numerous other ventures include self-designed collections for such prestigious companies as fine jeweler Mouawad and popular shoe line Birkenstock. She is the host and executive producer of Bravo’s Emmy-nominated series “Project Runway,” called “the Prada of reality shows” by The New York Times. Now in its third season, “Project Runway” is among the highest rated series on Bravo. Heidi also hosts a German version of Top Model. She has a lifestyle book, “Body of Knowledge: 8 Rules of Model Behavior,” released in 2004 through Crown Publishing, recently out in paperback. Other ventures include best-selling European clothing, accessories, fragrance and beauty lines. Her charity involvements include work on behalf of such organizations as the American Red Cross (as part of its ‘Celebrity Cabinet’) and the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Heidi’s website, heidiklum.com, is a destination for her many fans to keep up with her appearances and upcoming projects.
Heidi made her acting debut appearing as Michael J. Fox’s love interest in the ABC sitcom Spin City and has appeared in Miramax films Blow Dry and Ella Enchanted. She has also appeared in guest roles on HBO movie The Life and Death of Peter Sellers as Ursula Andress; and on HBO’s Sex and the City, CBS’s CSI: Miami, FOX’s Malcolm in the Middle, and The Larry Sanders Show¸ among others. She has hosted MTV’s Fashionably Loud Europe and Model Mission shows as well as the Laureus World Sport Awards; and has hosted various specials for CBS, TNT, VH-1 and MTV. She also hosted and literally swam with sharks for an episode for Discovery Channel’s popular “Shark Week,” and is working with Discovery Networks on her own series of travel specials. She appeared as villainess scientist Katya Nadanova in the best-selling James Bond 007 videogame, Everything or Nothing.
Heidi's modeling career began in her hometown of Bergisch Gladbach, Germany when she and a friend cut a modeling contest coupon out of Petra magazine and mailed in a vacation snapshot of Heidi. She had no idea how far it would go, but Heidi eventually won the contest. From this win, Heidi signed with an agency and her modeling career officially began. Heidi has since worked with such top photographers as Sante D’Orazio, Patrick Demarchelier, Gilles Bensimon, Rankin, Matthew Ralston, Arthur Elgort, Walter Chin, Robert Erdmann, Marco Glaviano, Michael Thompson, Raymond Meier, Richard Burbridge, Mark Seliger, Wayne Mazur, Peter Lindbergh and Steven Meisel.
Heidi has been featured on the covers and spreads of every top fashion magazine, including Vogue, Elle, In Style, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Jane, ID, W, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Allure, Esquire, GQ, British GQ (for which she was named “Woman of the Year” twice in a row) French & British & German Vogue, German Elle, Self, Fitness, Dutch, New Woman and Grazia magazines. In addition, Heidi has appeared in campaigns for McDonalds, H&M, Nike, American Express, Target, Liz Claiborne, Siemens, Givenchy, Finesse, Braun (for which her legs were insured for over $2 million!), Caress, Lancaster, INC, Nine West and the prestigious Pirelli calendar, among others.
Heidi is also well known for her work with Victoria’s Secret — one of her first big ‘breaks’ as a model was to walk in Victoria’s Secret widely-watched runway show. Since then, she has completed many campaigns for Victoria’s Secret, being featured prominently in the company’s world-famous catalogs and fashion shows. Heidi was chosen to wear the $10 million jeweled Millennium Bra, as well as the jeweled Fantasy Bra in 2001 and 2003; and she has been featured on the cover of the Victoria’s Secret Swim Book.
During downtime at shoots, Heidi cultivates her creative talents — sketching ideas for her jewelry and shoe lines, as well as crafting unique home products and embroidered clothing and accessories. Her own paintings have appeared in national magazines. Heidi’s undeniable beauty, exuberance and natural charm are signals that her phenomenal success so far is only the beginning.
