Q & A Video Photo Diary

After not making it on "Top Chef" during the first season, Otto didn't give up and came back to convince everyone that he deserves a spot on this show. Growing up in a large family with Italian and Hungarian roots, Otto could always be found in the kitchen with his mother and grandmother, learning the ropes of the trade. As a kid, he could transform all of the leftovers of the family meals into something different. Saying he learned to cook in the "school of hard knocks," he worked up the ranks and now is giving back to students at the Las Vegas Culinary Institute.

Otto wants vindication and says that at his age, it is his time to shine. He is relentless, passionate, a little crazy, and ready to teach the young chefs how it is done. As the oldest contestant, Otto is also one of the most interesting. He is a pirate at heart and once served as a cook onboard a nuclear submarine.
