How was your weekend? Probably not as good as Barack Obama's.
Let's take a moment to check in on the former president's seemingly endless tropical vacation with wife Michelle. You'll recall that, after leaving office and heading to a rained-out Palm Springs jaunt, the pair headed to billionaire Richard Branson's Necker island... and have been island hopping pretty much ever since.
Indeed, they went next to the South Pacific, where they've been spending a full month in the uber-exclusive resort known as the Brando, on the French Polynesian island Tetiaroa. (Read all about the epic retreat here.)
They're getting ready to wrap up the stay, but the latest pictures provide all the evidence we need that they've been taking their responsibility to chill time very seriously.
On Sunday, Tahiti TV station TNTV showed snaps of Michelle Obama paddleboarding while her husband swam in a Polynesian lagoon. Sure, the pics are grainy — but take one look at the snap of him climbing out of the turquoise water onto a boat, and it's quite easy to mistake him for a 20-something spring breaker.
Fellow holiday-makers took the snaps on the island of Moorea — which is just a quick ferry ride or prop-plane puddle hop from Tahiti. A reminder that they're not just ordinary folks (and never will be again), two other boats containing security teams escorted the Obamas' vessel.
According to People, Barack was spotted snorkeling around the outer atoll of Fakarava last week.
“True to his reputation, he was very relaxed,” according to the TNTV report. As well, the couple was happy to pose for selfies with anyone who asked, though “his entourage insisted the photographs be only for private use,” according to People's citation of the report.
The Washington Post has reported that Barack is working on his White House memoirs while at the Brando. A mighty fine place to find focus without distraction, we'd say — and an excellent work-life balance example for the rest of us.
