If you have a few Alexander Hamiltons in your wallet, you could be the proud owner of a resort on a stunning island in paradise. That’s because one couple is handing the keys to the family business over to a stranger. And that stranger could be you.
Indeed, Doug and Sally Beitz will give up their property, the Kosrae Nautilus Resort in Micronesia, after drawing the winner from a raffle… for which the cost of a ticket is just $49.
The couple, along with their four sons, have owned and operated the resort for 24 years, but now say they’re ready to ditch paradise to become full-time grandparents back in their home of Australia.
So if you’re 21 or over, you are eligible to win this business located on a remote volcanic island in a completely unspoiled area of the Western Pacific Ocean. And yes, the business is profitable.
The couple says their idea for the raffle stemmed from their hope to turn over their lives’ work to someone with a dream of island life — just like they had. And someone who will respect the island's ecosystem… not just some smug wannabe with a lot of zeroes in their checking account.
“We wanted to make our resort affordable for everyone,” Doug said. “While we are sad to part with it, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to make someone’s dreams come true.”
There’s just one potential catch: If fewer than 50,000 tickets are sold, the raffle winner will instead win a cash prize in the amount of 50 percent of the total ticket sales instead of the resort. Still, that could be over $1 million, so you’d be doing okay on your $49 investment.
Kosrae Nautilus Resort and its accompanying scuba operation has no debt, is loved by online reviewers, and staffed by 16 long-term employees. So consider this your chance to pack up and bail on life… with a proper retirement plan in paradise.
