Shawn Rabideau

Shawn gives a behind-the-scenes look at Bethenny's wedding day, with more on the pee bucket incident!

on Jul 8, 20100

What wasn’t fabulous were the potted plants at the Four Seasons. As I had mentioned to Bethenny a week or two prior, we were on a tight budget. Therefore, to cut costs we had to work with and use the plants that already existed at the Four Seasons. They were pink and worked great with the décor. What didn’t work was the fact that they were either dead or dying. Why the Four Seasons didn’t water their plants I don’t know. At that point it didn’t matter; I had to make them work. So I had to leave it up to my staff to wave their magic wands and create fabulousness out of horribleness. I was trembling a bit for fear that would be the one thing Bethenny would spot. Thank God for my staff because they were able to wave their magic wands, throw a speck of lighting, a dash of distracting and a sprinkle of life to create something pretty out of ugly! In the end it all looked great!

Upon arrival, and after her quick hello to the paparazzi, Bethenny wanted to see one thing and one thing only ... the room. Butterflies, seagulls and airplanes were flying in my stomach. I was SO nervous she would hate everything! What if she did? What would I do? Run? Hide? Rip my own goodies off and feed them to Cookie?

Seeing her face when she walked into the room for the first time made me smile from ear to ear. Her excitement was priceless, her happiness was timeless. The airplanes landed and the seagulls flew away. The butterflies, not so much ... there was still the reveal of the bouquet. Here’s a little secret, I always reveal the bridal bouquet first, because if they love it, after that nothing else really matters.

Because the Four Seasons wasn’t available the night before, I had to run through everything with Bethenny the day of the wedding. It's not something I like to do because it can be an emotional experience. I always tell my brides to soak up the moment, don’t rush down the aisle. Take a look at your man and study every second. With Bethenny this "speech" was no different at this point, she was Bethenny Frankel, she was a bride. I was right, she did get emotional and rightly so, she had planned and hoped for this moment her entire life. She deserved every second of this happiness and I wasn’t going to let her not experience what she was feeling. It wasn’t my intent to make her cry rather it was my intent to make her realize that this moment was real and that this was something to embrace and enjoy. This was her moment!

Early on Bethenny told me she didn’t want a ton of people hovering over her before the wedding. And although it was her Maid of Honor’s job to help her get ready, I was sensing Terri was getting on Bethenny’s nerves. I am not sure if Terri arrived from Crazyville or Annoying City – all I knew was that I had to get her out of that room. I really felt bad for Bethenny because Terri was doing everything she shouldn’t. She was loud and complaining and was from a place of annoying! It may have been rude of me to do so, but I had to clear the room for Bethenny’s sake and to be honest, mine.

Little did I know that what would come next would be one of the most life-changing, brain-scarring, and therapy-discussing events of my life, an event I would not soon forget for years to come.

Shawn,

YOU ARE THE MAN!!! I have no idea how you pulled off Betheny's wedding but it was spectacular!! Exactly what she wanted and in only 4 weeks!!!! I loved your personal touches and kudos you gave your team. Surely you are a man who knows how to run a business & design events as well as plan them. What I enjoyed best about your presence in the episodes is your beautiful, shining Spirit. You don't take yourself seriously and have a great sense of humor. That's what life is all about - keeping it REAL!! Would love to see you get your own show as I would surely watch it!! Best of everything life holds for you!!

How you didn't have a breakdown BEFORE the wedding is a miracle, Shawn. You did a beautiful, fantastic, out of this world job in a fraction of the time. Congrats!

Hey Shawn - I have to apologize. I initially posted to Bethenny's blog that I didn't like you, and that she should ditch you as a wedding planner. I think because BravoTV showed you to be an eye-rolling-diva and -(superficially), that just drove me CRAZY! But, I have to come clean and say after seeing what you produced for Bethenny and Jason's wedding, I have to eat my words of that post - -- IT WAS MAGNIFICENT and so BEAUTIFUL --! For posting negatively about you; before you had a chance to prove yourself, I sincerely apologize, and I'm sorry. -Carole

I was certain you'd get axed as her planner with your faux pas on family jewelry, the stark venue suggested and your inability to control your eyes from popping. Good for you Shawn. I'd hire you in a New York minute for a Picture Perfect Event. Cool under pressure is an admirable quality in your profession.

Hello Shawn, Just wanted to tell you how beautiful Bethenny and Jason's wedding was at the Four Season's. You did THAT in 4 weeks? WOW! You are truly an amazing planner and you listen to what your client wants right down to "cotton candy" (I wish I lived in NY so I knew what this cotton candy was and tasted like). Well, a girl can dream right? I think the decorations were so elegant and not over the top like you see on so many of these wedding planning shows. I give you "props" Shawn. It looks like you know where to cut the gaudiness out....that is for sure. I see a lot of viewers are telling Bravo that you need your own "Planning a wedding with Shawn Rabideau" show. I agree with all of them 100%. You are entertaining as all heck and watching you work would be fun and amazing. Good luck to you in your career and keep up the fantastic work. Take care.

You and Betheny could go into a partnership since she's in the food/entertainment industry, and so are you. You were great fun to watch, and you WILL be missed. Maybe you can do your own wedding planner show.

Shawn you are so adorable! I loved the relationship that you and bethheny shared - I thought you both held your own and came on top loving each other. You were so patient and kind - u seem to care not to hurt bethheny during the most important time in her life - well good karma to you. I wish you all the best all the love and luck. You will be my children's wedding planner - Ive already started saving up for their big day :)!

Shawn, CONGRATS on pulling off a beautiful event. It was fun to watch you and Bethanny interact. You gave the audience some good laughs.

Just FYI, you should practice in front of a mirror so you don't have the "deer in the headlights" look so much! That would be certainly disconcerting in a conversation with a client.

Another hint: if you are going to "hover" so much, at least sit down next to your client. All that hovering behind and moving around people has a buzzard feel to it that would put anyone off!

Best of luck.........hope we see you again!

Shawn, you need to be on "Watch what happen live" with Andy. I think a good one seated next to you could be Sonja, or Ramona. Then we could hear more about you...your plans...and all the drama you endured..

i just sat down and read all of your blogs and yes loved you on bgm.

oh my gosh shawn. you are an absolute riot. thank you so much for my out loud guffaws and at times, hysterics.

one way you are special is that you gave your staff many many well deserved kudos. i admire you for giving credit where credit is due.

however, the part of you that touches me the most is your heart. you are a very special man feeling all the happiness one can feel, and in your ability to feel that way, you have a lovely way to impart that feeling for us, our same pure happiness for Bethanny and Jason. thank you.

you are one special man. you are an unbelievably talented party planner, have a beautiful heart, and have i mentioned funny as all get out?

i would DEFINITELY watch your show!!!! HELLO BRAVO. KNOCK KNOCK!!!

i hope you feel like the male peacock all fanned out.

You are the Master! What an incredible job you did, under an amazing amount of pressure. Not only were your body parts on the line, but a Fine Reputation as well. But you came through Big, shining as much as that room did! I hope that this brings your career to the next level as it should.

I am in a business that customer service is key, going the extra not mile, but sometimes marathon to make a happy client. You should be proud! Best of luck for the future.

Dear BravoTV and Shawn Rabideau,

I don't like Real Housewives of ATL or OC, for that matter. I do enjoy RHONJ, RHONYC, and Bethenny Getting Married?, so I'm writing this letter in your best interest.

I must say that Mr. Rabideau should----nay, MUST---have his own show on Bravo TV!!!! He is a delight and having a camera crew follow him around doing his event planning thing would be SPEC-TAC-U-LAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is a delight to watch and unbelievably funny. My friends, sisters, and I never laughed so much watching the Bravo channel as we have when listening to Rabideau's quips and witty one-liners and priceless expressions. Hey, like you guys said in a recent article, you know that the brand of Shawn Rabideau was marketed on "Bethenny Getting Married?", so instead of introducing a show with alien characters, give Rabideau a shot at the limelight he deserves. America will love him! Your ratings will skyrocket! Please please please do it!!!!!!!!!!111

Love, Rani

Shawn:

You were certainly learned that you could hit any storm in the sea, because you learned how to sail your own ship. You are the BEST, and like you, I knew that you could easily be called out by the bride. Although that's one of the reasons I watch her. The gathering felt so intimate, and I actually felt like I was in one of the seats. Take a nap, hunny, you deserve it!!

Dear Shawn, thank you for not having Cookie at the wedding like Ramona did...lol I really hate seeing dogs in clothes attending weddings.I love my Rottie (Satori) but I would never dress her up and bring her to a wedding...lol

ps Satori has never bitten anyone. You would be safe at my house.Dogs are like children, when trained properly they behave.

Dee Pittsburgh - Wow - although I think Shawn was amazing and did a fabulous job, your Dee comments are way creepy. Stalking much??? Just because you have no sense of humor doesn't mean the rest of us don't. Go back to the toxicity of RHNYC and leave the normal people in Bethenny's world alone! Yikes!!

I loved watching you deal with Bethenny. You did a wonderful job & I cried like I was in the room. I thought the moment you had with her right before she walked down the aisle was beautiful (not the pee in the bucket moment lol), when you were fixing her veil. In that moment I realized she had no family there to share her special day and you did a great job of reminding her she was beautiful and special. Kudos to you.

Shawn...that room was absolutely gorgeous!!! I never doubted you, and I only wish I had an event to plan, because I would be calling on your services. I hope Bravo decides to give you your own show. I think a reality show based on the life and times of an Event Planner is an excellent idea, and the best part is we would get to see more of your wonderful creative work. Not sure we are going to be seeing you anymore now that the wedding is over. If not...Good Luck..I think new and wonderful doors have now been opened for you!

Shawn you were grace under pressure and did a fantastic job. I'llsign a petition for you to have your own show. Everyone here is obviously wishing it for you (so I'm not sure why Dee Pittsburgh is acting like she came up with the idea and has taken on the task of booking your clients). I think you should look outside the Housewives for your next clientele. There is drama everywhere!

Again, great job!

Shawn, from one event planner to another, you threw that wedding together beautifully! I would have had a panic attack if I had been working on that wedding; and even though I love Bethenny (or what I know of her from her shows and etc.) I don't think I could have worked with her. Kudos!
