After watching last week's episode of Bethenny Getting Married? all I could think of was saving my family jewels. With one week into planning, the stress was already beginning to take its toll on me. That coupled with the fact that Bethenny was beginning to turn into the ever-feared Bridezilla!
I've said it before that I can do a lot of things, but I can't move mountains and I can't make things just magically happen. If I could do that I would be retired on an island and we would never be having this discussion. I think Bethenny thought that I should have the entire wedding planned after our first meeting. And you have no idea how hard I busted my butt after that first meeting to get vendors lined up. Most were either booked or not willing to work on a Sunday (being their only day off). I begged and called in every possible favor I could. But by the time I saw Bethenny at the hair salon for her trial I still didn't have confirmation on most of the vendors. Time was ticking and so was Bethenny's patience. And who can blame a bride to be with just three weeks until her wedding? She was getting nervous the wedding details wouldn't get pulled together. I knew they would, but convincing her was another story. She wasn't willing to give up control and nothing I could say would change that.
When it came to her hair trial at the salon I sensed Bethenny wasn't having a good day and that she couldn't shake it. Boy, was I right. She was very dismissive and quite frankly acted as if she didn't want me there. She lashed out at me and began to suck the life out of me just like a Dementor from Harry Potter! By the time I left that day I was drained both mentally and physically. The worst part was that the journey of planning her wedding in four short weeks had just begun! Honestly, I wasn't sure if I should continue ... I am pretty nice person and getting beat up wasn't something I signed up for. After thinking about it, I was bound and determined not to give up. I was going to plan her wedding and plan it to the point where it would blow her socks off!
You have no idea how hard I worked to get the Four Seasons to say "yes." How I made that happen will forever remain a secret (to both you and I). To be honest I don't know if they said yes because I called 20 times a day or if it was the fact that I was willing to do ANYTHING and made that perfectly clear! (Even sleep with Julian. Every time I think of that I puke in my mouth a bit...)
Shawn I knew you could and would pull some strings and get the four seasons. They were blessed to have you plan the wedding. You are witty and Bravo needs to give you a show. It would be a big hit!!! Just saying hey Bravo throw Shawn a bone he'll run with it.
I hope you got to know that Bethenny is just a so opposite of you and it was a process to slowly get to know her. After watching her for 3 seasons she's rough around the edges but still such a likable, humorous person. She's great your great and I bet the wedding was great too! Can not wait to see it. -JR from RI
Wow...you do tell it like it is. Brave man for taking on a pregnant bride!!! And you have a sense of humor too. What's not to love about you?
You need to have your own TV show. You make me laugh really hard. Out loud. To the point of embarrassment.
You did such a good job! and yes, Bethenny (and Cookie) were sooo hard on you. Way to keep going & not give up!!
Shawn, I'm watching the show and all that keeps running through my mind is what an angel you are. I love Bethenny, but this 4-week wedding planning is CRAZY, and you are handling the plans and Bethenny with kid gloves. I hope this exposure launches your event planning company into the stratosphere, because you deserve it! If I lived in NY, I wouldn't have anyone else plan my events. All the best to you!
You're a doll. I've enjoyed watching you on tv. You have a spunky, fun personality....much like Bethenny. Best of luck to you and your business.
Shawn, patient Shawn....you DESERVE 10 times what you may have been paid to plan this wedding and reception. The planning was probably a "piece of cake"; tolerating Bethany had to have been a total nail-gnawing nightmare. I feel sorry for Jason, too. Eeeeee-gads, she's stressful!
Do you still have a penis??? You've made me laugh so much....I'll say a prayer that the damn wedding cake taste just as B wanted it to! God love you for taking on a bride and mother to be! Glad to see you stuck in there. Hopefully, your phone won't stop ringing after B's wedding. Best of Luck!
You are so funny!! and I really admire you as a wedding planner!! I enjoy watching you as a person and a business man!! Hope you will be on the show even after the B's wedding because you add a great taste to the show!!!
I don't believe that Shawn wrote this. This is a cover-up, and unless we see some proof of life, my suspicions will only increase. I think she killed him and that cake is somehow involved. Maybe she smothered him with it, maybe she poisoned his red velvet, I don't know. She's not strong enough to dispose of his body but if I were investigating a potential crime scene, I'd check the garbage disposal.
Shawn, I think that you are truly starting to get Bethenny. The great thing about her is she tells it like it is. I think you are doing a great job and will have a lasting realtionship with her. I hope that you are are on the show after the wedding is over. She is going to look back and appreciate everything that you have done for her. Remember she is in a very emotional state. Love you, love the show and most of all I love Bethenny.
you are toooo cute. I love your attitude and would love to have you plan my party, or come to my party. I can't wait to see how the wedding turns out.
You are such a great edition to the show. Pulling this wedding off in 4 weeks with Bethenny constantly biting you in the butt, along with Cookie, is a real achievement. If she doesn't lay off a little, I think you could easily take the title away from Ramona as the one with "crazy eyes."
I have to say that when I first saw you and listened to your responses and input I would not have hired you, but you have definitely come through and proven yourself. I like you personality and hands on with every step of the process and that you don't get combative or defensive when Bethenny rips into you is fantastic and you put a positive and funny spin on it!!
Hi Shawn! I don't know how you did it ALL without losing it with Bethenny, she WAS being a Bridzilla! And she seemed to always be treating you badly! Although last night's episode when she talked with you about her wedding plans and Jason, it seemed like she finally let you in! I can't wait to see how you pulled it all together next week! You sure earned your keep with THIS one!
So glad you are blogging!!! As I was watching last night, I thought to myself "man, he really needs to blog about what all this was like!!".
As an event planner myself, I can somewhat relate with the craziness of short-term bookings! You are willing to do everything in your power to make it perfect for your client, but sometimes, it's just too short of notice!!
Anyway, much love from INDIANA!! We LOVE you!
You're wonderful! You and Bethenny are hilarious together and I appreciate how you don't take some of the things she hurls at you personally. If I had money to burn I'd hire you to plan all of my events. I can tell from previews it's going to be beautiful. Just curious, did Bethenny have to buy you any new pants on behalf of Cookie attacking your leg? I wish you all the best from Colorado!
What a nice man. You really helped out at such a crazy time for B. Seems like you really saw the big picture and with that saw that B was a nice person, too, just struggling - so you jumped in to help! TERRIFIC!!
Bravo, party planners of NY and NJ??? You already have 2 great planner, Shawn and the woman that Theresa used for her house warming. They would be GREAT!!!!!
Well Shawn, I'm thinking you definitely have gotten thru the Bethenny " I have absolute power" wall. Her opening up to you and your gentle prodding combined with quiet as she said what she needed to get out was endearing.
Well done. I'm praying for the cake.
lol....I ADORE you on the show. Your reactions are hilarious!!
Kudos to you for agreeing to do all this for Bethenny with so little time. I truly shows how professional you are.
Love, love, love you Shawn! You are absolutely hilarious and your facial expressions are priceless. I hope the risk you took by being on the show pays off for you professionally - you deserve it!
ok, luv u and ur patience and sense of humor...and i was reading the other comments and someone said u should do your own show and i agree one million percent! that would be a great new show for BRAVO...the crazy life of an event planner and their crazier clients! DO IT!
You are a fantastic business person. I would hire you in a heart beat. After pulling off that miracle I pray that your business just grows and grows.
You Rock...the shower cake looked adorable! whew...right??? FYI..Bethenny's wedding song was "No ONE" by Alicia Keys.
Shawn, I've grown to LUV you on the show!! Hope they keep you on the show!!! Thanks for making her wedding perfecto! You're amazing to watch as you make miracles happen.
