Faux-hawks, Potty Mouths, and Pizzas …

Hi everyone! I’m so glad to be here to share this season with all of you and look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments as the weeks go by and the contestants slowly begin to dwindle.

Last night’s premiere of Top Chef was quite a ride. First and foremost, I thought it demonstrated that the folks in casting are taking it up a notch stocking this season with some serious characters. They’re also apparently really into faux-hawks. Will they be requiring this ‘do for all contestants next season? Perhaps we can get Christian from Project Runway to be the hairstylist? Note to producers: Mix it up and go with mullets for next season!

Seriously though, I think this cast is going to make for a very exciting and scintillating season. Though I have to say, I was surprised at the number of New York contestants. I suppose it makes sense because we do have the best talent, but still. I was expecting to see some more diversity. I was also a bit surprised that they cast a couple. Then again, it does make for excellent drama. I’m curious to see how that relationship plays out as the competition gets tougher and more heated.

So.... I agree, the talent is much better, the hair a little more ridiculous (who cares, but it's TV!) but the potty mouth stuff gets old quickly. While it goes on in kitchens of course, it is not done by well trained Executive Chefs as much as these guys would like to believe. A well respected Exec Chef knows how to speak to his or her crew. These guys would be wise to think about that as they move on in their careers and in the show....

So, are we going to hear from you again this season?

I watched Top Chef all day today (June 4, 2008) and I am completely disgusted with the foul language. The people need to learn some new words. If I knew that a Chef talked like this in his/her kitchen, I would avoid their restaurant.

We want your blog comments! We will read and approve them as soon as we can, but sometimes they can take a little while to show up online. Here are some guidelines:

  1. Keep it clean. You're a Bravo fan, you know better words than most TV audiences.
  2. Avoid using ALL CAPS! (It’s like screaming...)
  3. We don't post e-mail addresses or phone numbers.
  4. Have a good time. We love that you love the blogs.
