Last night a miracle happened at the Shrine Auditorium in Downtown LA. No, Runway didn't win an Emmy. We were beaten by "Amazing Race" and that sucked. But it was what happened right before our award was announced that helped dull the pain of losing for me.
A tribute to Aaron Spelling was begun by Heather Locklear and Joan Collins. Collins deserved an Emmy -- or at least a Daytime Emmy -- for simply GIVING IT in her delivery. And for her wig. She was a Carrington, a Colby, and a Dexter all wrapped in one.
The clip package was a collage of TV hits ending with "Charlie's Angels." The package concluded somewhat abruptly as the familiar CA theme-song played loudly for the audience. My date, Bruce Bozzi Jr., and I let out a gasp as the lights came up on the three original Angels walking down the stage, together again for the first time since maybe '76. We felt like the audience wasn't giving it up enough at first and were whooping and clapping like madmen. (Bruce and I feel personally responsible for rallying the crowd, by the way. But we might be a little crazy.)

There are no words that really say what it felt like to watch my Angels, (yes, I said MY Angels. When you enter a Charlie's Angels lookalike contest as a kid and cut your hair so it looks like "Sabrina" you qualify to say that) come out on that stage together. If it couldn't be me sitting there seeing it unfold live, I'm glad it was you Andy. INCREDIBLE. Thanks for look behind the scenes. Sorry about the loss.

Hi Andy,
I'm sad PR didn't win. Last season was great! Hope 3rd ones the charm (if got nominated again of course!), Conan was hillarious, Tim Gunn was quite good for 1st timer on the pre-show. He's stood up so straight, I was afraid he's going to get leg cramps though. Loved the Charlie Angles tribute too. My fav, Jackie Smith rocked!
Glad you enjoyed the day.

While I'm sorry PR didn't win, I am not entirely surprised.
In Season One, PR was fresh and fun yet it seemed very realistic.
S2 suffered a bit from the designers' fear of taking chances and from the judges' unbalanced treatment of Nick Verreos and Santino Rice.
Early in S3, the judges' questionable decisions seem to have taken PR off course:
The show has lost its most talented designer (Alison), its most sympathetic and eccentric character (Malan), its most-liked designer (Robert, who designs well when not subjected to cutthroat deadlines), and the show's laid-back comic relief (Bradley). The surviving designers are dominated by the crankiness of Laura, Jeffrey, and Angela, and the dishonesty and often-dreadful designs of Vincent.
Tim Gunn, Uli, Michael, and Kayne are pleasant to watch, but they lack the charisma and energy that are needed to overcome the season's growing crankiness. And the longer Vincent and Jeffrey survive, the less respect viewers have for the judges.
Nina Garcia and Michael Kors are highly talented and insightful, but they've held their positions long enough and their decisions are making the show a bit stale.
For S4, I recommend a fresh set of judges and some structural changes (an extra half-day for several challenges, for example) to restore PR's freshness and originality. One more thing: How about a sidekick for Tim Gunn? "Carry on" and "make it work" are indispensable elements of the show, but some fresh perspectives would nevertheless be welcome.

I can't believe Amazing Race won again, especially after such a weak year that they had. I really thought you Project Runway folks had it all sewn up! (Pun Intended)
For the Spelling tribute I loved Joan and her wig (When is the rest of Dynasty coming out on DVD???), and I was shocked with all 3 Angels on stage. I thought hell would freeze over and Joyce DeWitt and Susanne Summers would reconcile onstage before Kate, Farrah, and Jacqueline would appear together.
Some shocks with the 3 of them... Kate being there....
Farrah being coherent...
Jacqueline's odd plastic surgery but tremendous grace when the teleprompter went down (which was noticable to the TV audience)

For the reality show that did not win, your presence was everywhere. Heidi was being interviewed left and right, with all the network crews cutting away to her for Emmy b roll. And Tim getting his own instant fash re-cap with that cheesy chick who is part Eva Longoria part Jessica Alba- who ever that is. For me at first the Angels reunion was akin to seeing Eric Clapton perform White Room, with you Andy sometime in the late nineties. But now I realize it awas EVEN bigger. There was not one person over 38 who was not overwelmed inside their heart, when those three fairy princesses magically appeared on stage. God Bless America.

Dear Andy, I am one of the ultimate PR fans, I have seasons 1 & 2 on DVD and watch them whenever I need a PR "fix"". In my opinion PR should have won over "Race" , which I watch if it is convient, but don't if I have anything else to do. I am hoping PR will continue for many seasons, so it is a concern to me that there is so much flap over last week's episode. In truth it was uncomfortable to view the Jeffery/Darlene business. An observation, Darlene did have the grace to smile and be appropriate of the runway, and Jeffery's powder blue near her face was flattering to her features.
In the future it might be interesting to see the contestants have to source their material for Wal-Mart insted of Mood for one episode. Models from a plus size agency would have leveled the playing. Another observation, if Robert had paid attention to the outfit worn by Vincent's sister he could have gotten help with his designing. She looked much smaller in her outfit which had shorter sleeves, a shorter length to the jacket and was a printer fabric. Had he taken note it wouldn't have been boring. I LOVE THE SHOW ! "Make it work !"

I missed the emmys (But NOT the arrivals! That's the important part!) And Hiedi looked absolutely stunning, so, you know, she represented beautifully. You guys are the winner in my book! Bravo to you all for a beautiful job and a well deserved nod.

PR should have won won won! Too bad. As for the Angels, Kate Jackson looked beautiful but like an amazon between Fawcett and Smith. Just how tall is she? Or are Fawcett and Smith 2 leftovers from the Munchkins?
Heidi looked radiant and stoled the red carpet.
The worst dress--Sandra OH OH OH!!!! If she wore any more jewelry with that Ruffles-R-Us monstrosity, she would have had to have been carried inside by 6 muscle men on a stretcher. If Vera Wang was on PR as a contestant and showed that dress she would have been out faster than Heidi could say,
"shtinken".

Loved Charlie's Angels when I was a kid, a teenager except for the Shelly Hack season. Never liked The Charlie perfume girl as one of Charlie's Angels. Enjoyed Tim Gunn in the preshow and most agreed with his analysis of both Sandra Oh's dress being "too busy" with all the mixed jewelry around her neck with the beautiful Vera Wang dress and Cheryl Hines having too much jewelry with that jeweled back dress, most agreed in the shows Monday on the programs about the emmys dresses. Did anyone notice the modified Angela Kesslar rosettes at the top of the Zac Posen dress on Portia de Rossi? De Rossi was liked and called a risk taker for wearing that dress. I wanted to scream because the dress had PR 3 Kesslar rosettes on it, I wondered if Project Runway was influencing designers, especially after Cheryl Hines (wearing George Chakra) very jeweled dress back reminded me somewhat of Kayne's Miss USA dress somewhat in the use of jeweling details, although I actually thought his was more tasteful. Most called Hines' dress an ice skater or ice capades costume/dress. Maybe Project Runway is influencing designers... really aggravated me that no one seemed to know who made Heidi Klum's dress, although finally I heard it was Michael Kors. Can't believe The Amazing Race won its fourth emmy in a row either.
