LA Nights

March 2, 2007

I have been logging a lot of hours at the bar of the Sunset Tower (the deco gem that was formerly the Argyle Hotel) Hip hotelier Jeff Klein has remixed it into a Hollywood Regency hotspot with a 50's hue.

The other night I had dinner with a friend as a paino player with cello accompanist played everything from "Riders on the Storm" to the Theme from "The Price is Right." Now that's what I call music!

The table configuration in the restaurant, began, from my left, with Lily Tomlin and Frank Langella, continued with Sandy Gallin and Andrea Eastman, followed by Winona Ryper with Bill Maher, and Bravo Prexy Lauren Zalaznick with W mag's Gabe Doppelt rounding out the room. Now that's what I call insane!

Andrew, Are you still hung over in L.A.? The Oscar's were so last weekend! Anyway, WHERE was the restaurant with that piano player & cellist??? Your description reminded me of a twist on Marty & Elaine, the dynamic lounge duo of Los Feliz. Maybe the "Housewives" reunion show SHOULD be a The Dresden Room, a real change from "Tentations"!

Can you please bring Marcel back as a guest on top chef 3? I don’t care to see Ilan who is sooooooo boring. Marcel is one of the most inspirational realty TV stars that we have seen for a long time. Bring Marcel back

Hi Andy, Just wanted to say, really enjoy watching your after show ( mostly just to see how cute you are)
And wanted to let you know that I love watching Project Runway.....and have also enjoyed Top Chef. But Top Design is really leaving me cold, not really fun to watch.....and unlike food, which I cant taste through the TV I can see what the design rooms look like. Such as the Garage Sale challenge. There is no way that the Casa Armani room should not have been the winner. He made that room look like the things came out of the Merch Mart. Anyway its still not all that entertaining........and then you have the competition on regular TV from LOST.....so you have lost me to LOST. But I will keep watching your webcast and waiting for the better shows to come back.

Aaah--Frank Langella. I will never forget my childhood best friend embarassing the devil out of me when I was 17 and she was dying to see Langella in Dracula because she thought he was so hot. She was 15 and could usually look older and she and another friend had attempted to get in and were turned away, so we went to see Dracula. Her other friend should have been thrilled that they didn't get in because in oine scene Langella is wearing an open front shirt, and yes I thought he was sexy as all hell too, but my friend just lost control and suddenly couldn't catch her breath. I sank down in my seat and hid as she began panting heavily and making little animal noises and clutching the seat arm, but first I looked around to see how many other people were in the movie theater and whoa, too many and they were staring at us. Moving would have been too obvious, so I literally sank down in my sink so no one could see me. I made her sit in the dark theater until everyone left and we ended up staying through the next showing of the movie, when thank God she was quieter when the scene came back up, but she still reacted. No, the first showing I did finally move a couple of seats down because she just had this animal passion reaction to Langella, like he had turned into her invisible lover and was right there with her down from the screen. Even Bela Legosi and Rudolph Valention whom I adored in old movies I saw as a teen didn't cause quite that reaction for me. However, Langella was (still is) very sexy and our high school friends really reacted to photos of him and just at the mention of his name. Don't believe Jackie as she is probably lying to you and will make you throw up.

  1. Keep it clean. You're a Bravo fan, you know better words than most TV audiences.

  3. We don't post e-mail addresses or phone numbers.
  4. Have a good time. We love that you love the blogs.
