Watching TV For A Living

August 14, 2007

I spend so much of my day screening shows and giving editorial notes on them. I have a stack of rough cuts that are taunting me. The stack is: the first episode of "Real Housewives", the third episode of "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style", three episodes of "Top Chef" and two of "Millionaire Matchmaker." These are all shows I love, so there's no favorite in the bunch.

Last night, we taped a special episode of "Watch What Happens" for Outzonetv.com (watch it HERE) featuring Daniel V. and his Vegetarian Cutie Boyfriend, Kieran M. (I think Kieran should be called Kieran M. since we only use Daniel's "V"...)

I got home around 10 with my Bravo DVDs all ready to settle in and do my work. I hadn't been to my apartment in about 10 days due to beach and travel, so I took a quick peek at my DVR before screening and was taunted by what I saw: 8 episodes of "Big Brother 8" all stacked up in a pile.

Andy,
Are we EVER going to see Project Runway again???? Come on, throw your audience a bone, give us a date, something... I'm really looking forward to Tim Gunn's new show - he's simply divine and everyone loves him- but it's not the same as PR . In the immortal words of Queen, "I Want It All".
Sincerely,
Nancy

You mentioned Real Housewives in your blog - please tell me there will NOT be a season 3!! The thought of having that douche "boyfriend/manager/svengali" of Jo's (his name escapes me at the moment) on my TV again is enough to push me to network TV! Although, I wouldn't mind seeing yummy dummy Shane again...

Sorry to be completely off topic, but there's nowhere else really appropriate for this comment. Why is it that there are more Top Chef bloggers listed than ever before, but very few of them bother trying to keep current? It's getting to be a waste of time to try to come here to get their insight into new episodes. Marcel has done only one blog after how many weeks? And Ilan is nearly as bad. Even Lee Anne, who is directly a part of season three hasn't posted a new blog in almost a week! I'm glad you added Rocco, Anthony and Barton, but they don't give the same kind of perspective that I have come to greatly enjoy from Harold, Lee Anne, and Sam. Even Tom and Padma don't have time for this anymore! Is this ever going to improve, or is this concept dying a slow but steady death? I hope not. This is what brings me to your website, and since you seem to want people like me to do so, it's in your best interests to convince them somehow to participate more regularly.

Mr. Cohen:

I apologize for being off-topic but I'm trying to get an answer that makes sense to the question: Why has Vincent D'Onofrio never been a guest on "Inside the Actor's Studio"? This actor -- a former Actor's Studio student -- not only has had a very interesting career and is articulate about it, but he also is the star of an NBC Universal series.

James Lipton features guests who have hardly had a film career at all -- not when compared to Vincent D'Onofrio.

Your sister cable network USA is about to take possession of Law and Order: Criminal Intent as an original series -- a program that Bravo also airs -- and yet "Inside the Actor's Studio" apparently not cooperating by doing the obvious: booking Vincent D'Onofrio prior to the USA debut of his series in October. This actor lives in New York City and I would imagine is available.

Why no cross-promotion through your own original series about actors and their craft? It doesn't seem very smart. A person in your position (I would think) would want to cooperate with Bonnie Hammer.

I agree. Vincent D'onofrio would make a great guest on the Actors Studio. He is certainly qualified to make a great guest. I think Law and Order CI will do very well on USA and it will give the actors and writers a wider space to do more creative story lines. Hope we see Vincent on your program soon.

Vincent D'onofrio is my very favorite theater-to-TV actor! I admire his humble beginnings, born June 30, 1959, in Brooklyn, N.Y. And believe that he deserves to be interviewed. I would think being a successful student at New York City's American Stanislavski Theatre and the Actors Studio before making his stage debut in the mid-1980s, a period that also marked his entry into films, would qualify him. Yes?
I've seen every film he's done but know he must be a hard-to-get guest after breaking through to his best known role, portraying the intuitive Det. Robert Goren on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

This would be an outstanding and superbly smart move...

I just did a search to find the Vincent D'Onofrio episode. Can't believe he hasn't been interviewed. He is such a talented, versatile actor (and incredibly handsome). Come on.
