LA Oscar Weekend

February 25, 2008

Good morning from very hung over Los Angeles...

Even though I think I am still numb from the crappiest directed awards ever televised, the torturous show didn't kill all the fun I had in LA over the weekend.

Unfortunately I can't blog about the parties we went to or else I won't be invited back. Suffice to say that the highlight was chatting with Madonna. What party highlight would top that anyway?

Saturday night was classic - we went to Vegas and hit Caesars, saw Bette Midler's "The Showgirl Must Go On", grabbed some dinner at the Palm, and hit it back to LA. My favorite is that Bette's face is on all the chips at Caesar's Palace. This is MAJOR:

Jon Stewart kept the show moving, what a good host. Hal did not have a chance but it was good seeing Dixie Carter looking virtually unchanged since her DW days. And I have to say it, the red carpet sucks since Joan Rivers' departure. Sounds like you had a great weekend.

Andy, I too was puzzled by Travolta's look - he had a lot of makeup on! And didn't the Supporting Actress winner look like Eric Stoltz in a dress?? (sigh) - In Vegas for Bette's show and chatting up Madge at the Oscar parties -- alls I can say is, "YOU ROCK, ANDY!!!"

Sounds like a great weekend Andy. Wow, you talked to Madonna? Was she down to earth? What a thrill. Her and Bette in a weekend... too much.

Agree about John Travolta's "what the hell is that hairdoo about"
head. God he needs to do something with that ugly mess.

You are soooo right Andy, as that was the dullest and worst directed awards show I have seen in many years! What is up with that? The guys and gals sure looked fantastic though, gotta give that! Nice gig being able to chat with Madonna...very nice! I look forward to hearing more about your California adventure!
