Tonight at 9 EST, the "Real Housewives of New York City" reunite (followed by a new "Work Out" at 10 EST) and it is my fave reunion show we've ever done. Here's a video we shot before the show that will give you a taste of how hopped up the ladies and I were..... Do not miss this one!

As a native New York City woman, I am disgusted by the bitchy attitudes and nasty, antisocial, borderline behavior evidenced on this reunion show. They are attacking Simon and his wife for being social climbers: well, guess what: they are ALL social climbers. That's why they're on this "reality" show. The countess would be Mrs. Smith from Anywhere, U.S.A. if she hadn't married up. Ramona seems absolutely psychotic and mentally unstable. Bethany is a headcase as well, and classless and obnoxious. At least Alex and her husband seem like nice people who love their children, unlike some of the bitter, unhappy women spending more time and money on preserving themselves than on anyone or anything else, apparently. Disgusting!

This show was amazing because of Beth. When I watched the show I would be thinking something and seconds later she would blurt out exactly what I was thinking.
I was like, "THANK YOU!!!" Someone is addressing the massive pink elephant in the room! Even on the reunion show, she and Jill seemed to be the only ones who kept it real.
What was that mess about Alex and Simon not being portrayed correctly? Unless they were reading from a script BRAVO provided, I don't understand what could have been tweaked from CONVERSATIONS they had with each other! ha ha
Ramona, poor thing. She's so insecure that she tries to overcompensate in other areas. She really gets her feelings hurt easily and it makes her spin out of control.
The Countess did not want to admit that she TOTALLY sees class. It had nothing to do with respect. I saw on the episode how she didn't shake the driver's hand. If it was about ADULTS calling her Mrs. D, she would NEVER let people introduce her by her first name.
Man, I think I need to be a therapist! ha ha

Why am I so sad? Perhaps because the Orange County housewives seem "real" compared to the NY housewives. Just when I thought the world might end (drama in the O.C.), I was wrong. Here come the Real Housewives of NYC. Certainly, Bethany, Jill, and Luann more closely resembly "real" housewives (even non-countesses can have goood manners), we are subjected to social climbers and "ne'er do wells."
What if, just what if, REAL housewives with good manners and nice social manners live in Indianapolis? Columbus, Ohio? Tulsa, Oklahoma?
Manners and good graces can be learned (and bought. Cotillion, anyone?). And maybe, just maybe, those of us in the heartland aren't truly oonvicted that the rest of the country gives a damn.
Just maybe.

This reunion show was quite interesting.
They say a word to the wise is sufficient. It is apparent that Alex turns a deaf ear to any constructive criticism as does Ramona.
Its too bad that they can't see themselves as others see them.
The housewives of New York City is an interesting contrast to the Housewives of Orange Co. Perhaps you could do a Housewives of the South and show an additional and different way of life.

Hmm....I have to say I love Jill. She seems like a really down to earth Barbra Streisand look-alike who has a lot of connnections because people genuinely like her. She's wonderful and I hope good fortune keeps smiling on her. Bethenny is the girl who didn't have a Dad growing up that I can relate to, she also seems like a "real" person. Luann I liked until I saw the episode where she just had to correct Bethenny when she was "inappropriately" introduced to the driver. And how her husband, the "Count" would be appalled had he been there. She says it was about "respect" at the reunion, but what about HER RESPECT for the driver, as another adult, as a human being? What if he said call him Mr. Smith, would she? Ramona, what can I say? What is she on? Never mind her gaudy, I-wanna-be-young-again outfits or her delusion that she looks so good. She seems like she's off her rocker. She has the least amount of class of them all, the way she acted at Jill's dinner party, the way she acted at the reunion, and did you see the way she got off that couch? You definitely cannot buy or apparently, even learn "class." She is uncouth, rude, and has absolutely no common sense. Now Alex. Or should I say AlexandSimon. Fine, never mind that they want to spend time with each other all the time. But what is up with talking about being connected to the "right" people or getting into the "right" social circles and then acting appalled that people would think that they are social climbers? That is all they are, and for the true socialites, steer clear of Alex and Simon. Not because they are "lower class" than them but because it seems like that is all they are interested in, who can get them into what circle and who is connected to whom in this town. So classless. I miss the Orange County wives (except for Jo).

I enjoyed most of the reunion - but a key question remains what is the real nature of the show. Socialites, not a chance? Everyday housewifes, closer to the truth, at least for New York. But a big problem, no ones likes each other particularly, save Jill and Bethany. And that's true in NY, a lot of acquaintances, but no real friends. That's why NY Housewifes has such a disconnect with a lot of the audience. Plus one can't help but think it should be titled South Long Island Housewifes in NYC.
Ramonna should be booted, she is just over the top in hypocrosy, mendaciousness, childishness. Her view on the nude pix was silly, driven by need to be superior, yet look at her manner of dress and behavior. To me, her hyprocisy is no more than a cynical means to drive viewers to purchase her cheap religious jewelry, but who would after seeing her behavior?
Alex redeemed herself somewhat, though in denial re socialites. But part of the problem could have been she didn't understand the show at first, what others doing, and she just tried too hard.
Bethany is fun to watch, Jill for the most part, and LuAnn ditto. Jill is a caricature, but those people exist, and she comes off with a good heart; LuAnn with brains and some reserve, Bethany for just being herself for the most part, with some control to enhance her "brand".
Re comments on Alex' house, just such bad taste to comment, but so New York. You tease people when they're chubby, u say nothing when they're truly fat, they were just kicking needlessly, and it's her choice on how to renovate.
In sum, Ramonna is a distraction, a speed bump while watching, not funny, but but a rock in your shoe that hurts - you can't wait until it is gone.

hi,
I thought this show was crap in comparison to the LOVELY O.C. Angels!! I am a native NYker as well as many of the other people who will blog here, and it's not that it wasn't a good reflection or anything, they just lacked substance. These women, outside of Jill and Ramona seemed like they were pushed together, forcing these relationships and outings, unlike the women of the O.C. almost all of whom had known each other in some way, many going back decades....their ups and downs on the OC seemed more real and you grew with their storylines... I can honestly say I truly miss those girls (i know i'm a 26 year old girl who needs a life) LOL! I must admit their was at least 1 thing i liked about each of the NY girls (outside of Ramona.- she was an embarrasment to mother hood- let it go girl) I adored Jill, and i wished she would move to CA and hang w/ the other girls, she was soooo NY! From the accent to the attitude..that is a NY Woman! Bethanny was ok, a little dramactic, but one could grow to love her. Luann was kinda making me sick, until she had the episode where she helped the abused woman, and Alex, hate her or love her, i generally liked what she is trying to acheive, and the fact that her house was a mess? Well, everyone's house is a mess regardless of the paint on the walls or the finished floor, a house doesn't make a HOME, Ramona's house maybe gorgeous, but her daughter is MISERABLE with her as a mother, and her husband i'm sure dreads going to that finely decorated million dollar condo home to her nightly.....
Long story short, it was okay, but get back to CA! Where's my Vicki, Tammy, Jeana, Laurie,Quinn, Jo, the kids... We need all those gals back! (Did i just say GALS??- OMG that was soo Golden Girls!)
continue your blessings!

OK, she has some money, she is not as attractive as she would like to believe, and she behaves like a trash bag... her scenes I tune out.... I think Jill was the main reason for me enjoying the show..... she is awesome!!! and real... so is bethaney

These women are clearly attention seekers, and clearly do not see themselves for what they are:
"The Countess"- blames the "Count" on being absent...I think she needs a reality check. Her children are crying out for attention. Wake up before it is too late.
Bethany-Sad, Sad, Sad. Hard to believe this is a spokesperson for a major food brand.
Jill - Loudmouth
Ramona- Needs major drugs and therapy
Alex - Social climber but has a good marriage and loving husband...what's so bad? At least she has class.
Simon -annoying but loves his wife and children, could be worse now couldn't it?

The two whom I think are pretty normal are the countess and the Joy Behar lookalike. Alex and her husband are oh so pretentious. Every time they talk about Franzwwwaaaa... sp.
I want to vomit. Bethanny is just a reality junkie, I saw her on Martha Stewarts Apprentice. That blonde bimbo is a highstrung looneytoon. Okay it is a train wreck and yes I guess I love watching train wrecks.

The real housewives are the women caring for the home, the family, not having meetings with their children when they can pencil it in. What percentage of New York do these women represent. I want to thank Bravo for exposing this lifestyle it's sad that this percentage of America don't seem to get it they are not the majority and the rest of us don't envy we convulse. Stations in life? New Yorkers more than anyone else should know station in life means very little in the subway flagging a cab or surviving disaster, this medeval clinging to acceptance by people who are more "screwed-up" than the rest of us is mind boggling. And just to show you how insignificant it is, why don't presidents and people of power outwardly align themselves with this demographic?

This blog is for you. I have to be honest, I was really disturbed by the NY Housewives Reunion show. Even though, I don't agree with Alex and Simon, I found myself changing the channel because of how over the top the attack on them was. I realize that drama is great for ratings, I happen to work in the television industry, but how in-humane it all seemed. I've watched all of the OC Wives, Project Runway, and Work out reunion shows, and you always handle yourself with tact and class but, I have to say, my opinion has changed. You jumped right on the "mean" bandwagon that night. You and the other lady's seemed like a pack of wild dogs fighting over the same piece of meat. Gross!!! As delusional as they are about status and money, Simon and Alex are human beings and they really deserved better than that.

Why doesn't BRAVO introduce the GASTINEAU GIRLS to the show... They are semi-famous, independant, and great looking... I believe the two of them would really SPICE-UP the show. Both look better than the women already on the show and would really ramp it up a bit. They know NEW YORK AND HIGH SOCIETY.

I don't think I can take another season in New York. Please consider any other city: Atlanta, Miami, or Chicago.
Also please consider adding a little flavor by including a couple of women of color. I know there has to one or two you can approach.

Watching this show was a lesson for sociology students everywhere. These women, all of these women, have lifestyles that do not reflect the majority of American Housewives. This was a very sad representation of women who do not work outside the home. The show was full of negativity and for the episodes that I saw - very difficult to watch.

I think Alex and Simon are a class above the rest because of their intellect. They have been completely misunderstood by everyone. When Alex says her son knows Twinkle-Twinkle little star in 3 different languages, Bethany given her nouvea-riche and obviously non-intellectual background interprets it as a 'Class statement' whereas Alex is only just talking about his intellectual capabilities, she is not throwing class, heavens. Well the same can be said about Jill, she has no intellect, just street smarts as she often admits. As is also apparent when her sister questions her on a show "isn't your life all about keeping up with the Joneses" and Jill is supposed to defend supposed to say, no my life isn't so superficial but misses the point proudly proclaiming that 'earlier it was keeping up with the Joneses, now she is the Joneses !!" obviously showing she missed the point. Also Alex's comment "a wise woman once said that if you feel
misrepresented your premise is wrong" couldn't be understood as expected by Bethany, Jill, Ramona obviously and the countess. Obviously Alex's premise is wrong - she is with women who are not half as intelligent as her and cultured in arts, And when there's no depth there's just surface energy in them. And Bethany please don't make fun of Simon's accent. He is
obviously not a 'local' like you, please please appreciate that. I think I truly understood Alex and Simon in the last 2 episodes when I saw their house was in shambles, I knew at once their life has quality, its not just about keeping beatiful homes, making money and buying good clothes. Well its not like they have been misrepresented but more like not completely represented. I wish Alex had taken advantage of the fact that she is was also on air and showed her singing / other prowess, everyone would have better understood what they were all about.

I am appalled at how Alex was attacked by these ladies. And, really disappointed in Betheny with her obsession over Alex and Simons social status and the fact that they are rennovating their house. Sometimes women (Alex) would rather not live lika a primadonna and have everything "down to the spoon" taken care of for her, but rather do it themselves. Shame on Betheny for ridiculing Simon about simply answering a question asked of how much was spent on the dressess, and mocking his "aloot." I very clearly recall Betheny stating "I get paid thousands of dollars and my food is good!"..boasting about her stuff. Sometimes attractive beautiful self-assured women face envy, and I believe envy was directed toward Alex from each of these ladies. True colors sure did shine through at the reunion. Alex and Simon should not spend one more second justifying their fabulous lives; let's face it, who is not at the Hamptons each summer one trying to outdo the other. Alex and Simon are truly happy and the others seem not so. One more laughable item...Ramona leaving the reunion because of Alex's photos!? Has anyone seen her dance lately, the bending over and the stripper-type movements are more obnoxious than anything I can think of....especially Alex just the opposite with her beautiful natural body. Again, envy all over again!

These 2 are really in love with eachother, their children and their lives. Who cares if they wear designer clothes while revamping their homes? Isn't this the United States, do they not have that right? And, Betheny's comments about their being pretentious? Not as much as LuAnn needing to be called "Mrs. DeLesepps.: Ugh! To Betheny: If you really want a child, I suggest you move on from Jason. You are fooling yourself by staying with him. Don't give up that choice of a child if that is what you really want. If he really loved you, he would have a child with you fully knowing the love and joy that comes from having children already. He really just might not be that into you.

I really felt like all of the "ladies" were ganging up on Simon and his wife (sorry, forgot your name). Yet his wife sat with such composure and never said a bad thing about anyone. Perhaps she is already high society, and the others have to learn how to be polite, caring, and show empathy for humans. I'm positive that editing can do interesting things to circumstances. Moreover, perhaps the happily married couple have a dry sense of humor. There's more than one way to look at things. All I can say is Bravo for showing such restraint while the screaming meanies of New York "high society" was acting very low.

After watching the reunion show, I decided I was never going to watch this show again. There was a hierarchy between the women that was disturbing. Alex and Simon had the most class out of any of them. That's a fact. Who cares that they like making connections? At least they were honest and didn't care what people thought of them. Was Luann so different once upon a time? She used to be a model, for crying out loud, and not even a major model. How does marrying a count suddenly make her too good to shake hands with anyone? And Ramona, what a hypocrite. She can't be in the same room while they're discussing nude photography but she can wear a dress that practically shows her snatch and dance like a skank in front of her own daughter, who is mortified by Ramona's behavior on a daily basis, might I add. And what the heck is Bethany on the show for? She's not a housewife! She wasn't married or living with anyone! They didn't even show her interacting with her boyfriend's kids. They couldn't find a real housewife to fill that spot? I actually liked Bethany until the reunion show when she went after Simon and Alex and kissed butt to the other three. She's utterly useless. The redhead, too. She's so ova. She threw Alex and Simon under the bus, too, and what did they ever do to her? Here's an idea: either get a whole new cast or give Alex and Simon their own show!
