There's a fun new episode of "Top Chef" tonight featuring kids, drama and Oprah's chef. I was in Chicago for this one and brought my sister to Judges' Table. Before the Judges started their deliberation, hilarity ensued when a mouse ran across the set. Oh, joy.
I'd been telling Emily on the way that Judges’ Table takes for-e-vah and they we would certainly be shooting way into the morning. Don't you know that it wound up being the quickest Judges' Table in the history of the show, and we were out of there by 9pm! I was like the boy who cried wolf.
After the taping we all met up at the Frontera Grill and got blotto'd on tequila as the Judges attempted to get embarrassing info out of my sis. They didn't get any!

Even NPR did a Miley story. I chalk it up to her billion dollar net worth.

Hi Andy,
My almost 8-year-old daughter LOVES Miley. She was sitting with me when the pics came on the news. Her reaction was along the lines of: "Ugh, she looks like she just got out of the shower. That's dumb." So I left it alone. She doesn't yet "get" the idea of it being provacative. I'd probably be more upset if my daughter was 12! And the pic with Billy Ray -- That's the one I thought was creepy. Anyway, anything in the media, especially inappopriate stuff they accidentally see or hear about, is really an opportunity to have a conversation with your kids about what's appropriate, the choices people make, and why those might/might not be good choices, etc. Have a nice day! :-)

Hi Andy
Miley Cyrus = Who Cares. The ones that think this is the a non-story ( me) are jaded by the surety that this is a calculated career path stunt fully blessed by all her handlers and family.

Andy -
I agree that the backless shot of Miley by itself is not a big deal: Had this been a shot of her in a ballgown "Madame X" by John Singer Sargeant -style no one would care. The fact that the props w/ the satin fabric and mussed lipstick and toussled hair - give the illusion that she is in bed - post sexual encouter or heavy makeout session at the least.
Kids have sex at 15, but parents don't like the glamorization of teen sex - or illusion thereof.

Andy,
What is going on with "Flipping Out?" It had high ratings and was a great show. Can you give an update on that?
