Tom Talks

May 14, 2008

It's a "Top Chef" Wednesday, and to celebrate I shot an interview with Colicchio before we shot the final Judge's Table at the Puerto Rico finale...

(In other news, if you saw "Work Out" last night I want to hear your comments below....)

OMG! Can you just say "Such a good episode of Workout!"? Totally on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next one. The retreat looked awesome (wish I was there with them). All the flirting between Renessa and Greg = Juice & Drama! Jackie was sexy, as always. People need to lay off her in regards to Peeler, who should've been gone a long time ago. My only complaint is that there should of been more Rebecca on screen :-D

Jackie + Rebecca - Brianna = Favorite Duo!

You want my comments about last nights Work Out. I didn't watch out of protest to Jacki's behavior and response to her behavior. Sorry, I love all Bravo reality shows, but this one is too much to take for now.....

Last night's show? Not watching. No way. Your comments were too little, too late. Don't patronize us.

I'm with Lise on this one - I am boycotting WO due to Jackie's immaturity & unprofessionalism.

Tell me when Peeler replaces Jackie & I'll start watching again. Or better yet, Jamie Eason replaces Jackie.

This has been by far the best season of Work Out! Enjoying every minute of it and can't get enough! I miss Zen though!

lb wrote:

Out of fairness to you, I watched Workout last night. I did not see anything that has changed my mind. Jackie obviously made horrid comments, egged on by the actress who plays Lisa. I will not watch any more episodes.

And I have not regained the respect I lost for you and Bravo.

Chris wrote:

I'll keep it simple. You should not have edited that episode of Work Out. We, the viewers, don't know what Jackie really said but for Peeler, who in this instance, has no reason to lie, to go to Jackie and have her "I won't talk to you about this"...She's hiding something. It's embarrassing when you do something stupid, this one takes the cake.

Brian is a class act. I can't believe that people didn't catch that he was willing to continue to train Shannon, even though she was still in Skylab...that says a lot.

Andy, this was low on Bravo's part. You should have seen the need to show it raw and let the viewers decide. I'm done with the show myself. Others have followed...

Curt wrote:

Andy, we watch every show on Bravo religiously and have been HUGE fans of Work Out since day one.

However, what Jackie Warner has done and the grotesque self absorbed character she has become makes this show disgusting and unwatchable. Furthermore, her smug holier-than-thou-blame-Bravo-for-editing-to-make-me-look-bad apology about the Jamie Eason fiasco is reprehensible, especially given what Ms. Eason, Ms. Eason's boyfriend and so many others have written about the truth!

It was quite obvious (and reasonable!) why Propel has pulled its sponsorship of Work Out, and now another sponsor Soy Joy is following suit. Perhaps your slow reaction to the outcry of anger over this could have prevented the loss of sponsors and revenue.

But we'll continue to watch Work Out in the future, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons.

And Andy you got it completely wrong last night; you should be blurring out Jackie Warner's image from the show along with the products pulled by ex-sponsors!

amye wrote:

Watched Bravo last night? No way, no how!

I've stopped watching ALL Bravo shows until Bravo makes some kind of apology to ALL overweight people & ALL clients of Jackie "Warner's", for how she treats them.

And until Bravo fires Jackie's ass for inappropriate practices, remarks, and hostile work place.

I'll get my TC fix elsewhere, thank you!

Jen wrote:

Let's talk about Jackie Warner in all fairness. She is in fact a human being faults and all. Her behavior, however horrid is on display for all to see in its entirety because she decided to do a reality show and because Bravo has given her the arena to do so. Workout is entertainment, it's drama in all its glory. Jackie Warner however is no roll-model, she's not inspirational in any way and she certainly is no leader. Jackie Warner is merely an entertainer, a reality personality and a pseudo celebrity. What if Bravo took the highroad and stopped giving people like Jackie Warner an arena for fame and fortune and reserved her space in prime time for someone who actually practices what she preaches? I ask all of you this question- based upon her behavior and choices, would you want Jackie Warner as a friend- would you trust Jackie Warner as a friend? And, um...Andy that question is directed at you as well- since you've continually referred to Jackie as "wonderful" and "fabulous" in your blog. If we are indeed trying to encourage positive portrayals of gay and lesbian people in the media, is putting someone like Jackie on a pedestal really the way to go about that? As a gay man Andy, what do you think?

Hi Andy

I watched and will continue to watch becasue the coming attractions gots me hooked my brother. Doesn't mean I think JW was in the right. I think she has become so focused on branding herself she has frazzled herself. The JW of this season is not the same of two seasons ago. She use to deal with Brian with humor but boy o boy did she blew it this time. To paraphrase Will S. - Heavy lies the crown... of fame.

Love you

I'm totally amazed at the outcry to bring down WORKOUT. I enjoy the show and the web that is weaved. However, I see it as just a show, and not 100% reality. The pulling of sponsors at the prodding of intolerant people is ridiculous. Oh please. I sincerely hope Bravo WONT pull the plug on Workout and let it air its run. All this Hoopla might make Ms. Warner think twice about doing the show again. Or at least give the script writers a course in the current politically correct mumbo jumbo to apease the crowd.

Thank You,

I watched last night for one reason and one only--to see if that 'person' Lisa was fired for her inappropriate behavior. Of course not, not in LA--no accountability, no repercussions.
You know, if drop dead gorgeous people get that sort of catty behaviour when they go to the gym, is it any wonder that the rest of us normal to unattractive people don't want to go?
I did get some satisfaction today when I read that Propel stopped being their sponsor for this egregious, and frankly, abomination, of so-called professional behavior. Despicable.
I don't think Bravo has any culpability in this. Jackie, if she was any sort of business person, or decent human, would have fired Lisa right then and there. Period. She doesn't get it that even though she (claims) that she didn't have anything to do with it, as the owner and boss, she has all the liability. Caca rolls up hill, as they say.

I enjoy Work Out! I have started making life changes because of it and I have started working out! I don't think you would have a show if you didn't have Jackie. I liked Peeler too, but, it is all scripted and your producers cut where they want to I am sure. I do have to say Jackie has acted this season like it has went a little to her head. I think it was the first episode this year she made the coment she has reached perfection, hmmmm! This has not cause me to want the show off the air, any of the characters gone, nor do I want Jackie off and replace with Peeler! Please listen to the majority and not the few. I am also sick of the topic on the boards.

I consider Work Out like all shows on TV it is mostly for entertainment and do not take it seriously and if something annoys me then I have the choice of changing the channel!

Thank you for taking time to read and listen to ALL of us!

Sincerely,
Robbie

I'm not watching WO anymore, either. Jackie's ego is out of control.

As far as TC, when is pinch-faced Lisa going to be booted off?!? She's such a downer!

anyacat wrote:

The producers must be thrilled with this year's cast of unpleasant chefs. It makes for compelling TV, provided the viewer is looking forward threatening behavior from emotionally stunted cooks. Frankly, I was outraged when Sam was ousted in favor of Marcel, for the same reason Tiffany finally received some prize money, and I should have stayed away, because I no longer find the show interesting or entertaining

I didn't watch Work Out and never will watch that show again. I haven't been a long time viewer of that program, just having started watching this season. If I was a paying member to her gym, I would cancel my membership immediately! Since I'm not a member, thankfully living on the otherside of the country, the next best thing I can do is not watch her show. I know that viewers want an apology from Warner, but if she gave one now, honestly who would believe her?

Air it and own it Andy, Jackie isn't going to.

Hey Andy--

I think you're in a tough position with Work Out. Jackie is a loose cannon and has dug herself into a hole this season. I really believe that if it was the middle of last season, when she was in the fans' good graces, this whole thing probably would have blown over faster. I'm actually happy that Peeler is gone - he was incredibly annoying and there's no way he should have been around as long as he was. Back to Jackie - she just lies and we all see it, and it is like watching a train wreck. She spins and spins and isn't fooling anyone.

I watch the show for Rebecca. She is the best part about this show. The lack of her presence on screen the last couple of shows was disappointing to say the least. Maybe we got spoiled last season, but I wish she was the center of this show.

Thanks for reading, Andy! Love your comment the other day about being in a cab w/o a TV - you're soooo NYC!! I love it!!

Hey, Andy -

I just listened to several of your viewer e-mail vlogs on the Bravo website while I was doing work at my desk...it was like you were sitting in the chair next to me, gossiping in my ear. How the heck do you keep such a positive demeanor ALL OF THE TIME?!! It's a wonderful personal quality.

I love Top Chef and, to a lesser degree, Work Out. I am puzzled that two inferior chefs (and unsavory people), Spike and Lisa, continue to stay on the show week after week. I think that both Dale and Richard's work is terrific, and I liked Jen, too, and miss her. And I hate that we have lost Peeler on Work Out, as he seemed to be an inspirational trainer, even if he is headstrong. I think some accountability about that situation is in order, as far as Jackie W. is concerned.

Keep up the good work, and the great attitude.

well... I used to watch Wo religiously but I gotta tell you, I got sick of Jackie long before the boobage incident. We get it, Jackie is sexy, but frankly the focus constantly being on which straight gal Jackie is going to turn next was getting old last season.

I enjoyed the working out aspects, and watching peoples weight struggles... The constant navel gazing by JW and whining about how everyone around her is incompetent for one reason or another...not so much...

karen wrote:

I used to be a huge fan of WORKOUT . not this season..Nothing can save this show from itself. it, along with Jackie Warner is a train wreck..doesn't loosing 3 sponsors tell you something??? Jackie is a poster child for unethical behavior in the work place. she has set gay rights movement back 30 years, and Bravo does not care

CDH wrote:

I am a regular viewer of Bravo's series - and watched all prior episodes of WO over the years. The show seems to have less about physical fitness, and more about pimping JW's business ventures (water, energy bars, tacky clothing, videos, etc). The catty comments on Peeler's client from Lisa (and likely JW too) was the last straw. I refuse to watch anymore episodes of Work Out. And I respect Propel/Gatorade all the more for their action.

I am right in the demographic that Bravo's advertisers want -- GWM with advanced degrees and lots of disposable income. I will not watch WO any more and hope that this season is the last one.

This could be about a bunch of viewers with too much time on their hands. This could be about overreacting, but I think it is something more. I think people haven't been able to put their finger on it until now. Jackie is about Jackie. That's fine. Jonathon Antin and the flipping fellow are no different. However, Jackie focuses more on her image than the people she's training. I think your viewers can totally see Jackie make those comments. Anyone with a weight issue struggles with going to the gym especially around being compared to others or being made fun of. With this incident, Jackie totally confirms what so many people fear. She's not safe. It would also help if she displayed even a modicum of self awareness. Hope this helps you, Andy. You rock!

As a loyal Bravo and Workout veiwer what upset me more about this entire incident was the denial it ever happened. A simple statement of an apology to the viewers who made her a celebrity, instead of trainer to the celebrities she was a few years ago. We are the people who she is selling her DVD's and everything else to. I have yet to read the words I'm Sorry anywhere in print. I have read she wasn't happy with editing etc, but zero accountability for her mistake or poor judement. If such a statement was printed last week, this would have blown over for the most part.

For the record I have read Olivia Cruise was not happy with the episodes featuring the cruise line. It may have something to do with Jackie describing it as cramped quarters and bad food. Again, nothing to do with the comment or Peeler, but Jackie's behavior.

Unlock the footage and air it, let the viewers decide for themselves. We're not mindless drones. Let us make up our own minds, treat us with respect. Not to mention the killer ratings it would Bravo.

Sarah wrote:

Hi Andy. I love SJP and that she's back on Inside the Actors Studio! LOVE IT!! Can't get enough of her.

I did watch Workout, and have been a fan since moment one. The show really is negative this season, and while she tries to blame the editing, it really is all because of Jackie. She started out the season hating on Rebecca, blaming her for all the problems in her personal life. Instead of looking at herself, she just kept attacking Rebecca, and it was uncomfortable to see someone so angry and bitter.

We've all made comments about someone else behind their back, but to find out what she did - that the woman had a boob job because of breast cancer - instead of owning up, Jackie played the blame game and threw Lisa under the bus. We all know Jackie said something, and it is not what she said that's so bothersome, it is that she denies it. She's such a liar, and she's not fooling anyone.

I am not boycotting the show, any sponsors, or other Bravo shows for that matter (how could I when Kathy Griffin is coming back?!). I watch the show for other trainers, really, and when Jackie is on screen, I zone out. I just don't believe anything she says or does. I'm sure this season is already in the can, but I would shift the focus to Rebecca, Gregg B, etc to minimize the damage that Jackie is doing. Those two are much more entertaining seemingly and genuine.

Good luck - you've got your hands full!!

JJ wrote:

No client should be the target of ridicule - period. The fact that the client had breast cancer is irrelevant. Jackie had corrected unprofessionalism among her staff before (when Rebecca was showing off a nude pic of her boyfried to a client) but she didn't correct this one while it was occuring in her presence and thus endorsed it. It says a lot when an owner tolerates, and participates in, an environment where clients can be made fun of behind their backs. Apologies were only issued (to the boyfriend) when they got caught. But Jackie still hasn't apologized despite numerous statements saying that she DID participate in the catty remarks. I'm sure Bravo wanted to edit out the entire incident but they couldn't because it was needed to explain why Peeler got fired. Bravo did edit out Jackie's participation in the incident but they couldn't stop the witnesses (Lisa and the boyfriend) from telling the truth. Everyone makes mistakes. If Jackie is able to find the courage to be accountable for her actions then this can be a learning experience for her and perhaps inspire her to improve the level of professionalism in her gym and within herself and to improve how she manages employees.

Carolyn wrote:

I'm not sure why all the hatred is being thrown Jackie's way in the case of Peeler's client. If cameras captured Lisa & jackie's comments they were all edited out. Lisa admitted that she made comments. So tell me--what exactly were Jackie's offensive comments? Are we supposed to take Peeler's word for it?? Ha! Peeler HATES the fact that he works for a female and he is clearly threatened by jackie (haven't you people watched the previous seasons??) If Peeler really knows Jackie is the scum-of-the-earth & said all these derogatory things, why did he come groveling for his job again? It is because he probably made the whole thing up and is trying to make her look bad. Kinda backfired on him.
Also, nobody has made mention of the "Mud Run" episode wherein Peeler looked at the camera and said "F-- you, Jackie." Classy guy. I'm not saying Jackie is perfect (dating Rebecca and making out with Brianna at the dinner table were TOTALLY unprofessional) but if all this hatred toward jackie is being based upon the word of a person like Peeler-- you're all on mighty shaky ground.

mgagne wrote:

Why have Peeler's blogs been erased? Also the blogs about Jackie's infidelities on the cruise and the Peeler situation have also been erased as well as thew video. I know they existed at one time because the blurbs are still there. Drama is what makes reality interesting. I think you should put them back up!!!!!!!!!!
