Upfront

May 13, 2008

Yesterday was the big NBC Upfront bonanza extravaganza, where advertisers could get up close and personal with the stars of NBC and NBC Universal's Cable properties. You could fight with the (shockingly bulge-y) "American Gladiators", get footballs signed by NFL legends, pose for pictures with Janice Dickinson, and my fave, eat food prepped by "Top Chefs" Marcel and Hung.

Chris Matthews was broadcasting "Hardball" from the middle of the event, and nearby the cast of "30 Rock" and every other NBC show shmoozed and shook hands. Conan O'Brien made a hilarious speech. It was a fun shmoozfest on the Rock Center Plaza.

Bravo was well represented. Kathy Griffin was there, looking great and hilarious as ever. "The Real Housewives of NYC" were all there looking absolutely stunning. Each of the (already thin!) ladies seems to have dropped five pounds. They were mobbed and I had great discussions with Jane Krakowski, Mary McCormack, and Molly Shannon about HousewivesMania.

I have to point out that there have been no apologizes from Jackie printed anywhere. Whether she partcipated in the comments, or sat in stone silence as comments were made, as owner of the gym she needs to stand up and say the buck stops with her and take full responsibility for what was said. If that was done it would have controlled the damage that was created.

I find it interesting that everyone keeps saying that had they known that Peeler's friend was a cancer survivor, that Jackie and Lisa never would have said what they did about her. What should be said is that they never should have made ANY comment about her at all!! Personal animosity or not, Jackie, as owner of Sky Sport, should have reprimanded Lisa and never allowed the conversation to even happen during business hours in the gym. Brian may be arrogant, but he is right in this instance and should not have been fired. Jackie should have found a better reason at a different time. Now she just looks insensitive & unprofessional.

Hi Andy, I've never commented on a blog on any website before but I feel compelled to here. I think people know that the comments were not intentionally meant to hurt a cancer survivor and that Jackie hated Peeler. The furor keeps going because a) Jackie DENIES that she said anything in her blog yet Lisa and Jamie Eason's boyfriend both said that she did and b) the WAY she handled Peeler's firing was so completely unprofessional. Her refusal to speak to him was so inappropriate. I'm disappointed that Bravo and you haven't addressed this better.

Has Bravo axed Work Out? It was a 'no show' on TV last night.

"I got an email from her the other day saying that Cancer runs in her family and that she would never joke about that topic."

So if the woman didn't have cancer, would it still be considered okay for Lisa & Jackie to sit in an office and make jokes about a paying customer's body? I don't think so. As much as I enjoy all the shows on Bravo - I am DONE with Work Out. Jackie needs to show some professionalism and maturity.

Thanks for mentioning the Work Out controversy. As Jackie never liked Brian Peeler it is too bad it ended the way it did. She had plenty of time to figure out a way to let him go without looking callus, crass and crazy. I'm juz sayin' s'all.

BTW - Where are you moving to? You never said. Smell-A?

The Work Out incident was unfortunate. We all make mistakes. It's also unfortunate Bravo decided not to air the conversation between Jackie and Lisa.(yet you would air the assault on Marcel!) I think the public doesn't buy her denial that she didn't say anything inappropriate(stated in her blog) She just doesn't seem to have the character to admit wrongdoing. This undermines her, Bravo, and your endless exaltations of Jackie Warner. Now thats reality.

OMG! Everyone needs to get off Jackie's back. There isn't one person out there that hasn't said something horrible about someone else. Her circumstance is totally different than ours because she's watched like she's sittin' in a petri dish. Leave that lady alone and get over it...

PS- Jackie is sexy and so is Rebecca...
