So you’d like to see fabulous, glamorous pictures of yours truly and that adorable South African goddess Kara Janx? Well you best run -- don’t walk -- to your nearest newsstand and pick up the current issue of Entertainment Weekly.
You can’t miss it, it’s their MUST LIST double issue and it’s on the shelf for two whole weeks! I won’t ruin the surprise for those of you who haven’t read it, but Kara and I are both extremely proud to have been chosen to participate in such an amazing collaboration and because of that, I wanted to share what it was really like to prepare and be apart of one of the most in-depth, yet most fun photo shoot that I’ve been involved with to date!
Getting my hair done by the fabulous Karmela from John Sahag's salon.
(Spoiler Alert)
After the delicious people at Entertainment Weekly had a chance to meet personally with Tim Gunn, Ms. Janx and myself, they informed us that we had been chosen to not only grace the pages of EW’s “Must Have” issue, but that we would be opening the Style section!
To say the least… we were ecstatic.
Building the sets
Throughout the next week, our tight-knit creative team consisting of a photographer, set designer, photo editor, stylist, art director, writers and designers, bounced ideas back and forth about the setting, suggestions about products, elaborate sets, and everything else you can imagine. It was exhilarating working with such an amazingly creative team of hardworking people that ultimately wanted Kara and I to simply look as good as possible -- I’m sorry, but how cool is that!? In the end, an ultimate plan was decided upon and the shooting date set, all I really had to do was provide the clothing.
Photographer supplies
Now, you all must understand that unlike an established designer, I don’t have a huge surplus of clothing to simply pick and choose from (everything from the show was auctioned off), there is no factory that manufactures my clothing at this time (I’m holding off starting my collection for a year or two) and I’m not about to call someone up to help me whip up a dress in the next week (I do everything myself). So the predicament lies in the fact that this EW shoot was not only showcasing us as designers, but our clothing as well, and I wasn’t about to show something from last year -- that would be absurd! (Cue Project Runway theme music.) My next challenge is to create two to three new outfits in the next five days. However, there’s always a catch. You must do this while…

But I wanted to know what you were working on, because on wikipedia there's a rumor that you are with Harper's Bazaar. I'm starting fashion design school at FIDM in the fall, inspired largely by you and the rest of the gang in season 2. I'm not into fashion, (although I DID go to the high school of fashion industries in NYC) but as a professional artist myself, (check me out at www.subwaysurfer.com) I could appreciate the struggles and challenges you guys went through. Much success in your career dude, and stay cool! I bet you can give me change for an ice cube...

I've seen the first two season #3 shows and I miss your opening shot; that stooped walk with your arm swinging was a great intro to your spirit.
