We here at Bravotv.com love back to school. So much, in fact, that we asked some of our favorite Bravo celebrities to share their 'back to school' stories. For more on this series, click here.
There’s something completely nostalgic about this time of year that I absolutely adore: all of the “Back to School” posters in store fronts, the subways being complete hell between 3pm and 4pm, and a bombardment of emails from young fashionistas worldwide requesting fashion guidance for this very important time of year. I LOVE BACK TO SCHOOL TIME!!!
Seriously, I did love this time of year as a kid (though I’m sure I’m only remembering the fun parts), I loved buying a new backpack and Trapper Keeper (do they use those still?), and making sure I had my 1st day outfit planned out well in advance. I’d say it was comparable to the Emmy’s for America’s youth:
Red Carpet = The cafeteria,
Best Actor = The cool kid with the really cool older sibling who dressed him/her for the big day.
Best Supporting Cast = The lunch ladies!

Back-to-school fashion's pretty exciting, but I'm more excited for fall fashion!! I started buying some new pieces for the fall already. =] Ohh and I beg to differ. I personally find Sarah Jessica Parker's line to be quite tasteful and very affordable. I'm a guy, so it's not like I buy her stuff, but I still think they're nice. I usually shop at Forever 21 and H&M and recently, I've been trying to find the courage to splurge on something, but it's just sooooo hard!!

Daniel,
I have to say that when you put anything from the celebrity "fashion" brands via Sarah Jessica Parker on the not-to-wear list - I have to say that's a shock. I went to Steve & Barrys and saw her line, and I was pleasantly impressed. Some of it looks cheap (and it is), but some of it's quite good. I'm a fashion design major in Michigan (holla!), so I'm not just talking from my a**. Amanda Byne's line is OKAY. But, I think SJP did a commendable job with Bitten. I think if something looks good (and good on you), you should get it - no matter where it's from.
So, SUCK IT! Just joshing, I love you.

YES! I hate Crocs as well. I counted over 100 people wearing them at Niagra Falls this summer. How insane and horrible is that?
I have finally gotten used to my school dress code (shirts with collars, no jeans), and try to work in fashionable clothes. Love you and your advice!

I usually just like to read blogs for senseless rhetoric, however today I felt compelled to respond. First off fashion is very subjective and its all about creativity and innovation. If you really want to stand out and be original, I would use Vogue as a mere guide not a law. Don't be afraid to mix and match retro pieces with new items, high end designer threads with modestly priced pieces (like Vera Wang's new line at Kohls), play with colors and patterns. Know your body and your pockets. There's nothing wrong with picking up items from SJPs line and matching them with bolder pieces for a more chic feel. As for over exposed Marc Jacobs, do him in moderation. And, stay clear of him for kids clothes, they're way over priced. Kids grow too fast and play too hard, you want something fun, stylish and durable for them. Remember, those who can, do, and those who can't blog. Oh, I'm just teasing, but for real style look within yourself.

Hey there-I'm a high school senior, and I'll be one of the first to admit to my lack of fabulous fashion sense, but there's a couple things I hav ealways agreed with you on. Uggs and Crocs. I've never seen the fashion of those Ugg boots--sure they're comfy, but they're really ugly(and really over priced!) Which brings me to Crocs. They're only ok if you're actually walking in water. Not walking through the halls of your high school--or worse--a professional business! But seriously, have you seen the new Crocs with the fur that's like Croc meets Ugg? That's a little too much.

Hey Daniel,
The only reason that I wake up to go to school everyday is to put together an outfit, and then go to school to hear everyone's comments (and sometimes critiques). It makes it worthwhile!
I would wear anything you design.
I would also marry you. But that's another story. :)

Hi dan,
congrats another time for your sisters wedding...
I need your help with a problem I have,
in my school we dont have to wear uniforms, and that is fantastic because we can dress pretty fashionable , but for the next year we will have to wear uniforms, but not just simple uniforms, horrible neon-orange polos, or black and green t-shirts that look like halloween costums!
I has horrified when I heard the news, because I'm a really fashion conserned girl, and I dont whant to look like a pumkin at school.
So I wonder if you could advice me, in how to accesorize the uniform, I think we have some possibilities because we are going to wear the horrible t-shirts with jeans and the shoes we whant (except for heels : ( , and flip- flops)
I hope you could help me, I really hope! so thankss 4 everything
luv yaa!!

Daniel, you're the best, but SJP's collection is fantastic. If your fellow designers didn't charge so much their designs we'd all dress a lot better. I applaud celebrities and designers who recognize that everyone isn't a freaking millinare and can't afford to spend $100 on a tank top, $250 on a blouse, $500 on trousers and $1000 for the "it" bag. I agree 10000000000% on Crocs though. They are an absoloute abomination.
