For those of you keeping a tight eye on the world of fashion, you’ll be aware of the fact that Fashion Weeks in America and in Europe have recently wrapped. An exhausting few weeks that fly by in a blink of an eye – and though they’ll return again in a very quick six months, let’s take a brief moment to reflect on what will we loved, and get to look forward to in the upcoming season. So if you haven’t been doing your homework, here’s a little sneak peak into what you missed out on.
In New York
3.1 Phillip Lim:
I very much enjoyed the cool street feel that this collection had, and though known for his strong evening wear, he’s expanded his looks in every direction quite successfully. I personally adored the flowy, long dresses as alternatives to the short, summer frocks seen elsewhere – there was something a bit coquettish but demure about them.

Rodarte:
Another design label that caught my attention this season, was the sister duo of Rodarte. In you’re not familiar with this budding label, it would be wise to take note as their craftsmanship and unfiltered imagination is creating quite the buzz. Though I myself prefer strong, leaner lines, there’s something that speaks to me quite clearly with this specific collection: the feminine yet strong underlying aggressiveness, their appropriate use of sheers, and their quirky take on volume and proportion. Here are a few of my favorites…

Proenza Schouler
Lastly, the Proenza Schouler boys were another design label that sent out looks that were refreshing and bold. Bucking an overtly feminine and flouncy feel, that at times can dominate the spring shows, for a more daring and sharper look. Opting instead to showcase new proportions and silhouettes, as well as a continuous show of juxtaposition – in fabrics, color, and pattern combinations.
In Milan
Prada:
I truly, truly love this collection. Partly because the colors and patterns were utterly fantastical and ethereal, and the detailing exquisite, but mostly because in an interview I recall hearing that the make-up/hair was inspired by fallen fairytale characters. How can you not love a pixie with a dark side to her? Ever the evolving designer, I find Miuccia’s work difficult to replicate and almost impossible to predict – always a forward thinking woman who isn’t afraid to do what she feels.

In Paris
Balenciaga:
Nicolas Ghesquière is hands down thee one to be watching if you aren’t already. He is the beginning, he is the originator, and most importantly, he is good at what he does. For the past few years, one can proudly say “I saw it at Balenciaga first” and know it to be true. This season, he brought dainty, floral patterns to a new, daring level – creating almost armor-like silhouettes, exaggerated proportions and bold details like curvilinear faggoting. If looking at his clothes, you find yourself asking “But would this be wearable?”, style.com put it best:” If Ghesquière's extreme embroidered "robot" leggings can sell out for squillions of dollars apiece, and last season's jodhpurs, blazers, scarves, and ikat prints can fuel a global industry of knockoffs, what has he left to prove?”

The manner inwhich you carry yourself, relate with others, care for your models all add to make you an individual others will want to be around and associate. Since I am watching, what I believe to be "reruns" of the show, I am not sure what will happen but I wish you the best and hope to follow your career/life. Take care, and best wishes! Bill

Happy Thanksgiving to you. I am a 24 year girlie from Missouri. Just wanted to say that I absolutely loved your designs. They are beautiful, innovative and clean. I have always loved high fashion since I was little girl. The downside is I am not exactly a tiny girl. Do you think you would ever move on to a bigger more common genre of normal size girls? I would love to be able to wear your designs! So for right now, I just buy clothes that look like yours and layer them to get the right outfit :) Oh and make some tops for us big boobied girls too! :D
Love you Daniel, you are such a sweetie-pie!
