Well, I just had one of those experiences -- it was AMAZING!!! My boyfriend Kieran planned and orchestrated this elaborate day filled with hilarious clues, my favorite people, and some of my most preferred spots in NYC! I was sure to remember to take along my camera as I knew it would be a memorable experience …. So get ready to relive it along with me. Oh, and I should mention that Kieran had written clues that would help guide me throughout my day, hinting as to where or who I would see next …. Unfortunately some of them were a bit “off color” so I can’t mention them, but believe me, they were HILARIOUS!

For those of you keeping a tight eye on the world of fashion, you’ll be aware of the fact that Fashion Weeks in America and in Europe have recently wrapped. An exhausting few weeks that fly by in a blink of an eye – and though they’ll return again in a very quick six months, let’s take a brief moment to reflect on what will we loved, and get to look forward to in the upcoming season. So if you haven’t been doing your homework, here’s a little sneak peak into what you missed out on.
In New York
3.1 Phillip Lim:
I very much enjoyed the cool street feel that this collection had, and though known for his strong evening wear, he’s expanded his looks in every direction quite successfully. I personally adored the flowy, long dresses as alternatives to the short, summer frocks seen elsewhere – there was something a...]]>
There’s something completely nostalgic about this time of year that I absolutely adore: all of the “Back to School” posters in store fronts, the subways being complete hell between 3pm and 4pm, and a bombardment of emails from young fashionistas worldwide requesting fashion guidance for this very important time of year. I LOVE BACK TO SCHOOL TIME!!!
Seriously, I did love this time of year as a kid (though I’m sure I’m only remembering the fun parts), I loved buying a new backpack and Trapper Keeper (do they use those still?), and making sure I had my 1st day outfit planned out well in advance. I’d say it was comparable to the Emmy’s for America’s youth:
Red Carpet = The cafeteria,
…So here goes…
So the next morning, after the big fireworks display and grand 18-bedroom house, we all woke up and had a fabulous breakfast alfresco, joined by yet more friends of out hosts. Their names have unfortunately slipped my mind, but how adorable their new puppy was most certainly hasn’t. Gup was especially curious to meet his new friend/competition in the “Cute...]]>
So the crew consisted of Elle, Colin, Anna, Kieran and me, all of which are highly skilled at either a) singing loudly in small spaces b) playing odd, random games… with ourselves, or c) continually asking “What did you say?!” due in part to the most acoustically unfriendly backseat positioning. Regardless, we were packed and out the door by late afternoon, only to sit in traffic for an hour before we were even out of Manhattan (Though you can see that none of us really cared too much!)

We’re all dying and we’re bringing the planet with us. Whether you believe that or not, there’s NO WAY you can argue that half the stuff we do to the environment is actually bad for it: carbon dioxide emissions, overwhelming piles of refuse, and CROCS. Ok, that last one isn’t exactly bad for the environment, but they are ugly and they hurt my eyes, which is never good because if I can’t see well and then I can’t recycle.
Everybody knows why organic food is good for you … but organic fashion is a new concept to most people. The clothes we wear are a direct expression of our personalities, beliefs and lifestyle. If you eat organic food, there’s no better way to spread the word than by wearing organic and eco-friendly clothes, and for those of you who don’t eat organic … well you can still look good, while doing good. These days,...]]>
Thanks for being patient, and apologies for leaving you hanging with the rest of our amazing San Francisco trip. So let me recap, -- I believe I left off last week with Kieran and I heading back to the hotel after the Academy of Art University’s fashion show… exhausted and beleaguered, and running on practically empty.

Nonetheless, we were on a limited time schedule for our stay on the west coast and we had to make the most of it, even if it killed us. So despite our lack of focus, our weary bodies, and an unappealing string of drool dripping out the corners of our comatose mouths, we carried on.
We cleaned up and setting off with a renewed freshness, made our way to Union Square to enjoy an outdoor slice and some fresh west coast air.

Who doesn’t love a little fun in the sun?! Last weekend the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA invited me out to do a little meet-and-greet, and to be an honorary guest at their annual graduate fashion show as well. I mean, how could I say no: sun, fashion, and the chance for Kieran and me to get away for a few days – I’m so in!
There have been some projects however that have been keeping my evenings occupied, for one you all know by now that NYLO is debuting later this year and has been a huge undertaking. However, that aside, opportunities just keep popping up that I can’t turn down! A friend is hosting SNL coming up and I of course had to whip up a dress for her (though no time for fittings – eek – I’ll let you know if it works!), some new job opportunities and...]]>

Who has an older sister? Who has a dramatic yet lovable older sister?
Now, who has a dramatic yet lovable older sister who’s getting married at the end of September and who is in charge of designing her wedding dress even though she’s in another state and is bound and determined to “lose another 15 lbs” even if you have to bring the dress in two sizes? …No one? Ha! I win!
For the rest you'll have to pop over to OUTzoneTV.com to read the entire story. Believe us, it's worth a click!
]]>The day began at 8 a.m. at the Westin hotel here in New York City, and after a quick drive-by of the hopeful designers already in line (I think the first girl had been there since the ungodly hour of 3 a.m!) I made my way...]]>
