Dear Patti,

I’m an avid Kathy fan as well as shows like “Shear Genius” and “Runway.” I’m hoping you can give me some of your advice about looking your best, so important in the dating pool. So have at it Patti! What’s your “best foot forward” advice for us single girls trying to grab a Mr. Right?

Autumn,
Park Slope, Brooklyn

Dearest Autumn,

It’s not just the clothes! Men love to put their hands through long, silky hair -- make sure your ends are perfectly straight and flat-ironed. If you’re a fun chick like Kathy (known for comedy, not glamour)...the best offense is a defense! Surprise attack them with a flawless, angelic face -- that means throw away your ‘goth’ make-up! Stick with a little blush, eyeliner, mascara, lip-gloss and a hint of bronze...iit goes a long way. Girl-next-door beauty can totally create the “WOW” factor! Also, SMELL GOOD; not like...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/07/dlist_dos_and_donts.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/07/dlist_dos_and_donts.php Tue, 24 Jul 2007 20:00:04 -0500 Celebrity Dating Tips Hiya Patti,

I suppose I don’t have a dating question per say, as I am happily engaged at the moment and my fiancé is a very talented hair stylist with his own business (okay, am I gloating?). But I couldn’t help but think, while flipping through this week’s People magazine that celebrities never stay together. What gives? Can all the single girls (and hey, I used to be too) get any insight from Justin and Cameron’s break up? Or Jennifer Aniston and anyone she happens to be dating? I’m mean! Don’t mean to be but just thought, since you are the “queen of the D-list dating scene,” maybe you had some special thoughts on all those Hollywood couples and their messy love lives?

To Carla,

Well, if this isn’t just right up my alley? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why most celebrity couples don’t work out -- can you...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/07/celebrity_dating_tips.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/07/celebrity_dating_tips.php Tue, 17 Jul 2007 20:00:02 -0500 Take A Dating Diet patti_04_320x240.jpg

To Patti,

Hiya Patti, I love this blog and I love Kathy. If you ever hit West Palm Beach you know you’ve got some girls to kick it with! I’m writing in cause after a pretty eventful couple of months of dating I’m really getting discouraged. After going out with some really cute guys (who had a little extra change in their pockets) it seems like the river’s run bare and my last couple dates especially were really a waste of time. It’s not good when the meal is what you remember most about a night out. Right now I just want to kick it my friends cause I hate the highs and lows of the dating scene so I’m wondering...do you ever feel burned out on love?

Fawn (who’s fed up)

Dear Fed Up (Fawn),

Take a dating diet! Breaks are great. They give the body,...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/07/take_a_dating_diet.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/07/take_a_dating_diet.php Tue, 10 Jul 2007 20:00:01 -0500 That Face to Face Connection Patti, first of all...you rock! I love your advice. I just wish my friends were as cool. They are giving me a hard time because they think I’m shallow but I think I’m just being real. You see, I work for a large company with offices at 2 different spots and am always on the phone with people from the other office. One of them happened to be this guy I got along with really well for about 5 months until he quit for another job. He sent an email (a special just to me one) and invited me to his going away thingy on his last day.

We actually got along on the phone and he emails really well -- I liked his sense of humor and he even sounded cute so I went ahead and showed up to his party. It could have been love at first sight (I wanted it to be, anyway)! It wasn’t. Maybe...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/06/that_face_to_face_connection.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/06/that_face_to_face_connection.php Tue, 26 Jun 2007 20:00:01 -0500 Sexy in the City Patti dearest,

I recently moved to New York City from my hometown in Virginia and I love it -- of course. But maybe not all of it. I hear a lot about the big city dating life (okay, mostly from “Sex and the City”) and now that I’m getting a taste of it … I’m worried! I hostess at a very upscale restaurant in Manhattan where guys stroll in with models night after night. I think I’m pretty cute but these girls are long legged giraffes and it can make a short southern gal sorta self-conscious, if you know what I mean? I hate to sound so superficial but I am an attractive, buxom lady so what gives with my sudden anxiety? I meet guys at my job and many of them are successful in some way. I’ve been going on dates and I really just want to put my best foot forward. But I think I need help?

D-List Dating Ex Anxiety patti_02_320x240.jpg

Patti,
I’m a newly single gal living in Los Angeles (or as I call it, shark’s town) but I had been married for the past six years. I ended it last year for all the right reasons and spent several months feeling guilty about ending it until I coaxed my way onto some online dating sites. So far, okay. I’ve met some decent boys but my past problems with “the ex” still looms. I really don’t want to be that girl who talks all about her past on the first date but I also don’t know how to avoid the topic since my marriage was so major in my life for such a long time. So how do I explain my past relationship and not create a million questions about it? Any advice how to brush past the “ex” topic when you’re just trying to enjoy your night out?
Stacey,
L.A.

D-List Dating Disasters patti_01_320x240.jpg

Dear Patti,

Help! I waaaay need it. I recently ended a 3-year relationship and find myself newly single again. After some much needed alone time (Yeah Tivo) I agreed to go out with my friend on a double date with some guy she likes and his friend, who I had met once before at her birthday party during my “mopy” phase. I guess I impressed him somehow and he wanted to go out which is like weird because I was such a mess then but anyway... THE DATE WAS HORRIBLE! I mean ‘Sucks to be you’ horrible. What made it bad though is that my jerk friend left me alone with this STRANGER at this bar we went to after dinner. I know I’m sounding totally evil because he wasn’t a bad guy or anything but he was just very boring and not anything in common with me (how do you not like seafood?)....]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/06/dating_disasters.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/datingfordlisters/2007/06/dating_disasters.php Tue, 05 Jun 2007 20:00:04 -0500
