I’ll admit, I’m one of those people who drank the organic Kool-Aid (is that an oxymoron?). For about four years, I’ve swiped my credit card at Whole Foods hundreds of times, and on most of those occasions, paid hundreds of dollars for a few bags of food. I justify this slow financial death because it’s important to me to cook foods for my family that are made with, well...real food. I grew up eating Shake and Bake and Velveeta, and I have to say... cancer-prevention and nutrition aside, fresh food does taste a whole lot better.
But it wasn’t until recently that I discovered organic hair care.
I’m somewhat of a shampoo snob, but mainly because as a copywriter, I get a lot of high-end products for free. About a year ago, I received a goody bag at an event that contained some John Master’s Organic hair products. I could have cared less about the mascara, cd, perfume and watch that were also in the bag, I just wanted to get home and try the Lavender Rosemary Shampoo and Citrus Neroli Detangler.

The essential oils in this shampoo are well known for their skin care and nair care properties. It is nice to see a company use them properly, and in a high enough concentration to make a difference for most users.

I love organic shampoo, I turn my head to hippies and such but it is amazing, (my sister forced me to try it) I have a sensitive scalp and it still does me great. Great post!

Just as Beth said, I have a sensitive scalp too. Tnere are some shampoos that make my scalp so dry that it feels like I wash my head in Comet! Organic shamppo is so much better and soothes my scalp while conditioning my hair.

For fine hair, I recommend Jason Thin-to-Thick shampoo and conditioner. Awesome stuff. You notice a difference right away, but the real difference is after a few weeks. It permanently thickens hair. Love it.
Also check out a small company in San Francisco that makes a product called Max Green. Their whole line of hair products, especially the styling gel, have changed my hair from sad and flat to fabulous every day.
