Bravotv.com: How have you been, Kara?
I’ve been good!
Bravotv.com: A lot of contestants talk about Project Runway as turning point, what’s changed for you?
I think the major difference I’ve seen over the past two years is just the exposure overall. It’s been amazing. There’ve been some great things in my life. I was always doing things for different organizations and now, because of this exposure, I’ve been able to do things like go to Kansas City and talk to girl scouts. I found an amazing investor. People know me and email me -- want to purchase my stuff. It’s different from being a costume designer, and having accomplished things in the field, and now the exposure. I think the exposure as certainly helped me do some things that I’ve always wanted to pursue, but on a larger level.
Bravotv.com: What do you tell the girl scouts?
Well, they had a fashion show. I just told them that large or small opportunities, you have to kidck that door wide open and do everything that you can when you get that opportunity to do what you want to do. And I just gave them inspirations from stories from of when I was a girl. Stories where you don’t think things are going to work out and then you always find another way to go about it. A door opens for you. It was so much fun.

To Project Runway Producers,
How about another jet setter challenge, fly to Hawaii, watch a Polynesian Show and next challenge design Muumuu (Aloha wear) for a Hula competition (Auana Division or modern Hula). I will try get you an expert in this area to help you.
I love Project Runway. Seen all 3 Seasons. When will the DVD's come out? My Favorites: Kara (Season 1), Chloe (Season 2), Laura (Season 3).
I adore all the looks of Heidi Klum in every episode. Tim Gunn, you're great, and very professional.

i thought that it was so obvious that karasaun should have won the show. she was never in the bottom. she held jay's hand the whole time and even helped him with every other one of his designs... and he wins???. naw...i don't think so...it was just too obvious that she should have one. it was so pathetic. i just think that bravotv/project runway did not want that "type" of person to win just yet. i mean, by it being the very first season and all,,,they probably figured they'd loose viewers if they'd let that "type" of person to win. it's a shame.

I am 57 years old and have sewn and designed for about 45 years. I am still trying to be fun and creative and I really enjoy discussing the design process and skills with the amazing number of people who have enjoyed the Project Runway. I rooted for Jeffrey all season and I felt that many of the challenges actully had Jeffrey doing the best work but his personality is so unique and he makes little or no attempt to ingratiate himself, it's just to easy to under value his work. His collection was so fun and exciting I predict lots of sales. I am a little suprised at the superficial, off hand nature of many of the judges remarks. I take this very seriously. Sewing is a tremdously enjoyable hobby, a very economical skill to be able to give substantial advantages. I consider all the good the show could really do and I hope to see better criticism and commentary in the next season which I am anxiously awaiting. I probably saw most episodes 4-5 times. Timm Gunn is the consumate gentleman, but I was very disappointed at the styling of Heidi Klum. Such a gorgeous woman ,with tons and tons of personality, why can't someone deviate her style from hoochie momma? Please. I felt embarrassed for women because of Laura. I felt she was unnecessarily mean spirited to some of the male candidates, not just Jeffrey. Our lovely gentleman from Oklahoma, more than once was condescended to and just plain
treated poorly by a woman with enough blessings in life to act a little classier. Honestly Laura, with your beautiful body, supportive husband, gorgeous kids and super apartment, why did you have to be so rude to your competitors. She had won in the game of life already. I felt that she missed the opportunity to show some good sportsmaship and maturity, something to inspire the other contestants to hope that they too would grow up and be classy like her at her age. While I agree her craftsmanhsip appeared sublime, the creativilty was sorely lacking. Same, same, same. I would love to see the show do a few little sewing instruction tidbits. Let's foster more American designers, let's get America sewing. Thanks for my favorite TV of the year.

Kara Saun was a two-faced prima donna on the show - she should have been disqualified for the shoe fiasco. What a disgusting liar!

Genuine question for an awesome designer... I have always had a passion in clothes and art, and wanted to be a fashion designer when I hit my teens. I kept up both my art and my academics in high school but with absolutely no financial support, I chose the academic path, for finanacially stable future. Now, knowing I still wish to take part in the fashion world and design, I'm trying to save money for fashion school. What I want to ask is... is it all worth it in the end? Often times, I feel quite a heavy load of discouragment when people just exclaim how little money the designer path has, and how impossible it is to actually make it in the world, and that even if you 'make it' and 'recognized', you are really still struggling.

Kara Saun should have been the winner of Project Runway. Her designs were the Bomb! I would have worn any of her fashions. I particularly like her soft, professional personality. I know she will go a long, long, way.
Jeffrey was a brat, but a good designer, even though not my style; a little too off-beat for me. I'm glad he won, though. I cried when Heidi said to Harrison, his son, "Your Papa won!" Man, that pulled at my heart strings!
Boo to Wendy and Laura, Bad Karma for both of them. They deserved what they got: Nothing! Ha! Ha!

I 'm sorry but I thought you had more class in your designs than in your actions. You were terrible towards others, like Wendy. You guys pushed her into being the way she was. The judges couldn't judge a Barbie Fashion show. They go for the nasty cheating unrealistic designer. No wonder the show was canceled. Get realistic judges who choose nice talented and honest designers and sorry but but you aren't one.

Kara did win, she chose to concede defeat than compromise her fashion by pairing her designs with off the shelf shoes.
