Maraysa: Me and Kanye West

I’m taking three guesses as to why you’re reading the Bravo intern blog: a) the obvious -- you’re bored and somehow a night’s worth of internet surfing has led you here, b) you want to know the inner workings of Bravo and decided the intern was the person to turn to, or c) you’re my mother.

In the first case, I commend you for stepping away from youtube and Wikipedia. I’ll try to make this venture worth your while. If you picked B, well, I can tell you that all you wanted to know about Bravo I can see from my little dub room. That is, if all you wanted to know was access to DVDs of every show Bravo’s aired. And if you’re my mother, I’m just surprised you could find the site.

After reading a couple of the previous intern blogs I’ve gotten the idea I’m supposed to write about all of my cool little adventures here at "30 Rock." Bravo is now my third internship and I can tell you already it’s got (and will continue to have) the most amount of “cool intern stories” to tell my housemates then write about on here.

Well, except for one story from the time I interned at Law & Order and unbeknownst to him, an actor gave me the official tagline for my semester abroad of “Sex and the Italian City.” Trust me, interns remember every. single. word. any celebrity at work says to them. Especially when they say they’re jealous of you.

But this is for Bravo stories, and I’ve already got a couple of awesomely awkward intern moments. I could tell on my first day that I liked the laid back feel to the office. Professional, yet the abstract painting all over says we’ve got character. I was thrown off track on how laid back it was when at approximately 5pm my boss comes in and says “Maraysa, it’s time for cupcakes and champagne.” Was this an every day occurrence? Not quite. Turns out it was someone’s last day and that’s the tradition…but for a minute I was convinced I had scored the most unimaginable internship ever.

What was even more unexpected was the other day when a co-worker came into my office and said “If you’re bored Kanye just started rehearsing if you wanna go watch.” The SNL studios are just down the hall but I’ve never ventured past the bathroom we share with them for fear of Lorne Michaels spotting me and shooing me back to Bravo’s offices. But I’ve always thought I should be more adventurous.

So I decide to attempt to find my way to the studio, always with my NBC ID in clear view. After exiting the bathroom (to try to be “less conspicuous”) I headed the opposite direction of our office and make a couple turns. With no sign of a studio, or sound of Kanye West, I’m spotted by what seemed like 20 (ok, it was more like 5) older employees of SNL who look at me with eyes knowing I have no idea what I’m doing. I attempt to make a smooth move, pretending like I’m looking for someone in the elevator bank, then made a b-line back to the colorfully painted hallways of Bravo.

Out of all the blogs, I stopped at your because you are a very good writer. I fall into the "i'm bored category". I wish I would have done an internship in T.V. as oppose to taking the first job offered to me out of college, creating debt, and 11 years later finding myself in a dead end career. Keep upf the good work, you're on the right path. Always follow your heart.

We want your blog comments! We will read and approve them as soon as we can, but sometimes they can take a little while to show up online. Here are some guidelines:

  1. Keep it clean. You're a Bravo fan, you know better words than most TV audiences.
  2. Avoid using ALL CAPS! (It’s like screaming...)
  3. We don't post e-mail addresses or phone numbers.
  4. Have a good time. We love that you love the blogs.
