Every week, Jeff Lewis will be answering viewers' questions about real estate, design, and "Flipping Out". If you have questions for Jeff, submit them in the "comments" section!
1. So what is in for bathroom showers?

People today are looking for spacious spa-like showers with multiple water sources such as double shower heads, body and hand sprayers. Rain shower heads are also very popular, Ryan & I use them often. I have installed steam machines in previous properties and I was surprised to see how reasonable the actual units are ($800 to $1500 dollars, not including installation). Mr. Steam is a brand I like to use. If you have the room, I like to see benches installed. To make a smaller shower seem larger, take the tile to the ceiling and use a frameless glass shower enclosure. Please do not use a fiberglass prefab shower pan. It can make tasteful well-designed shower look cheap.

2. I want to know who makes most of the design decisions?
I make the design decisions on the homes I remodel, but Ryan makes most if not all the design decisions on the houses that he and I partner on. I completely trust Ryan's aesthetic, and we decided on our projects that he would choose finishes and I would manage the construction. That said, I like to bring friends through our homes and solicit ideas. Inevitably, someone always comes up with a great improvement idea.

Jeff, you are stong with your business decisions, however; when it comes to your employees you need to be tougher! Chris and Stephen are not watching your back. They are both albatross's around your neck - fire them and move on. I love your show and my husband and I want to see it more on BRAVO but you have not been on for many weeks now. I did write requesting they show you more...love your first assistant. But unfortunately you hired her husband and firing him will probably cause friction between you and her. I would still let him go.
Good Luck Jeff - we love your show!

I am currently getting my Master's degree in Human Resources which takes most of my time, but I never miss your show. I can't wait until the new season.

Can you provide some more info on it...and was it all fabricated together with the countertops? Any other kitchen trends we should be aware of?
Looking forward to more episodes!

Dear Jeff, I finally feel validated that there is someone out there as compulsive as myself. My home is like my showcase and I think it reflects the personality of the occupant. If it is a mess more than likely the occupant is. I get a lot of people who feel uncomfortable in my home because it is just too perfect. It feels perfectly comfortable to me because I know how to live in it. You made a comment about people who use your powder room and mess up the towels, you go in behind them and fix the towels. That was great I laughed so hard, I do the exact the same thing. I also tend to run off most men I date because I will walk them around and point out the things they mess up in my home. There are not many people like us out there and it is so refreshing to see someone like yourself making a guy like me feel better about my o.c.d. Yes I can be mean, yes I can make people squirm, it is all about standards and living up to them. I also wanted to say I think you are absolutely gorgeous, I am sick of others making comments about work you may or may not have had done. They're just jealous they cant fix things they are self conscious about. I think you look great and I think the work you do is phenomenal. Just so you know I keep myself medicated in order to be mellow, otherwise things just wouldnt be pretty. Keep up the great work and I'm glad to see you've raised the standards in your business and staff. There's always room for improvement no matter how perfect you may think things are.....Take Care and the best of luck to you. Christopher

I think your show is fun to watch as well.
I think your employees enjoy being with you because...although you can be tough...I think the "highs" far outweigh any of the "lows".
You are the most enjoyable Reality Show Star that Bravo has managed to showcase.
Side question...I'm always intrigued by Ryan's assistant...the Asian girl - but, she doesn't seem to speak in any of the episodes.
Does she say anything next season ?
I like the relationship you have with your assistant - and wonder if Ryan has the same type relationship with his assistant.

My wife and I loved your show. We waited eagerly every week to see the changes to your properties and the antics of you and your staff. I am a design-builder in Charlotte, NC and truly admire the way you pull your homes together. Your eye for detail is fantastic. I did have a question regarding that beautiful trough sink at Nottingham that aired in the "open house" episode. Who is the manufacturer? I have searched the internet and had my suppliers looking for a double drain trough sink that appears to be fireclay or porcelain to no avail. If you could let me in on the secret I would be forever grateful?
Thanks,

Hello! I hope this finds you doing well. My husband and I watch the show all the time and are very impressed with the work you do. There are a lot of "house flippers" who do the minimum to fix the house just to make a profit, but you and your team really put quality into your work which is a nice change. I would purchase a home from you without hesitation. My question is this, what color was the office in the Valley Oak home? It was kinda of a blue-greenish or turquios color. I am painting a room in my home and have tried to match the color but it is still way off. Please let me know what color it is and what company it was purchased from whenever possible. Thanks in advance and happy house flipping to you.

Hi jeff,
Forgetting about your OCD behavior, which I feel doesn't always display that except in stressful situations, why not use supplies that aren't so top of the line; but beautiful, to keep your overhead down? This way, you will still have monies in the bank. As far as the towel thing being straightened, I don't have OCD, that I'm aware of, but when I have company I, too, want to keep my home perfect especially in the bathroom when I know it will be used by another guest. I noticed that you're always buying take-out food, why doesn't your housekeeper cook for you. This way, your sandwiches would be perfect which would be another destresser.
As far as the contractor that let his people use your house as a toilet bowl, I would fire him and his entire crew. In fact, I would have had HIM clean it out. Wasn't it up to him to tell you that his workers need a toilet....how about digging a hole in the ground for the time being. As far as the workers using your property as a skate board ride, if I was your neighbor, I would be upset too. That is money YOU are wasting too.
You happen to be a wonderful designer, but you must have the proper help behind you.

Love the show, you remind me a LOT of myself.
My question is : Such as yourself, when you are buying and selling properties for your living, how do you avoid your credit rating being lowered from inqueries when just normal business operations of buying and selling properties requires the lenders to run your personal credit ? I've thought about buying the properties using my corp which has good credit and I'm assuming business credit wouldn't be affected so much from inqueries. Would they still run your personal credit in that case ?

Your show is absolutely fabulous and I've seen every episode. I would like to know if you would ever be interested in looking at any property in Arizona? I live in a little neighborhood called "Sunnyslope". It is a beautiful mecca in the middle of the city and the North Mountain preserve. It has been allowed to fall down the tubes and open some doors to low income and less than desirable folks...you get the picture. Anyway, a few years ago, the city attempted a major clean up project, but it wasn't nearly good enough. It needs to continue!!! There is absolutlely no reason for this fantastic area to be habitated by people that don't care about it or all of the beauty and fun it has to offer. If I had the money or knew of more investors like yourself, I would certainly be on a crusade here. I would like to encourage you and Jenni (or any other investors you may know if you can't) to visit and just take a look and see if you feel the same. You can feel free to contact me and I'll give you a guided tour. I know you are busy and would understand if you can't make it down personally, but I beg you to look into this, you won't be sorry! I have nothing to gain except for gratitude for anyone that can come in and help rebuild this lost little community in the middle of metro Phoenix!!!

Hi Jeff,
I love your show, greatly admire and respect you, and agree with you on most everything. Furthermore, I don't understand why your employees think you are difficult to work for, as I have had far worse employers and don't feel you are asking them to do anything that is unreasonable.
Here are my questions pertaining to decorating:
I have been living with the same furniture for years, and some of it is obviously dated. I would like to change it myself, by adding some overlays, etc., but I have a chronic pain condition and am unable to do this myself. However, if I were to hire someone to help me with this, would you have any idea who I would hire? Would I hire a carpenter? What kinds of questions would you recommend I ask them?
Or, if I wind up buying new furniture and replacing what I have, although it is perfectly good and would I think look better and updated with a few minor improvements, what style would you think I should decorate in that would stand the test of time?
I like mission style furniture, but I also like the coastal style of decorating, because I live in the desert but grew up near the ocean. I also like Spanish style furniture and actually have a dining set that is old style Spanish with pine, although the rest of my furniture is oak. So you can see how confusing and confounding this all is. I never intended to have such a mish-mash of styles and looks, and all of this came together quite by accident.
I don't know whether I ought to just set all of it out on the street and set it on fire and start all over again.
What are your ideas? I know that if anyone can help me, it will be you.
I look forward to hearing your ideas.
Thank you for your help in advance, and your wisdom.

I too am a little compulsive about things and I love seeing your life! I too have been interested in houses and the real estate market for as long as I can remember. I was a Realtor for a couple of years and am now working with a website dedicated to selling homes for sale by owner. I love it cause I get a peak into the homes (structural and design) of everyone else. I notice everything when I go to a home to do an ad. Right now my husband and I are realizing our dream of building a "little house on the prairies" where we live and farm. I WISH I had your negotiation skills with the trades people as we have been getting shafted for months now with workers not showing up and price quotes going throught the roof!! Have you ever considered coming up here to do a TV bit on building or renovating!!! We could really use some advice and we have honestly been waiting for the plumbers for 10 weeks now. You absolutely cannot work in a house with no heat in winter time in Canada. So here we wait. I thank God every day (literally) that I can watch your show and for a minute forget about our building problems. Your problems are always so much more dramatic......I love it. We have "flipped" and sold every house we have ever owned to get to our goal of building this house. I am very close to realizing this dream and am enjoying your show immensley! so i have grand plans for a addition (2 years?) for a new addition to the master with a new bath addition.. thats the good news
bad news.. renovated first and only bathroom 6 years abo (marble and great tub/shower combo. was not sealed correctly causing water damage under the floor/shower, so i need to redo the whole bathroom.
it is a small bathroom 6 feet wide, 10 feet long, with the option of taking over a closet from either bedroom as an option)
question, even if it is longer, it is still width wise the same.. does it make sense to do this, as an idea make a separate shower. or do i just max this little, primary bathroom with better quality tiles,(ann saks?) and vessel sink? or what?
ideas please! thanks!

And their motives are usually dirty and selfish. They want you to suffer and they always want to prove to you that they have it hard. Some, won't call names here, are unmotivated and lazy..and others are cold and competitive. In truth, Jeff, you are beyond amazing - and I am not talking about your talent here- I am talking about you as a person - just incredible. And, no question, very, very talented, to top it off. I am very sorry you are surrounded by a bunch of unappreciative, unsupportive people.

Jeff, after seeing your amazing work, I want a Jeff Lewis home!! Any chance you would come to Dallas to remodel my home? I'd give you carte blanche. How about any colleagues you would recommend who are located in the Dallas area and share your talent? Love your show!

Fabulous show! As much as I LOVE the drama, I would like to see more of your incredible design work. Live in Dallas where everything is over the top. I really appreciate the liveable simplicity of your design. Ever thought of doing a book?
Thanks from a fellow rescue dog owner!

Hi Jeff,
Love you and love your show. Chris Elwood is absolutely taking advantage of you AND his wife. He is well aware you might have issues confronting him because of Jenny. Chris blatantly lied to you and obviously Jenny, without a modicum of guilt and yet you are the one who feels guilty and dirty for spying? Let him go and stick to it. If that means losing Jenny then so be it. No one is irreplacable. Yes, she is your friend (if she really doesn't know Chris is lying), but he is NOT a friend. He is a free-loader taking advantage of a cushy situation. You are a little out there with some of your demands but it is your money, honey and you are paying people to maintain everything to your specifications. Don't buy faux friendship. This isn't your first rodeo! Looking forward to future episodes. Ryan rocks, too.

Jeff, you really are a genius, and a true inspiration. Your houses are absolute works of art.
I find your work awe-inspiring.
Your show has re-spark my passion for real estate. And for that, I thank you deeply.
I was wondering though, how does one get into the business of "flipping" and remodeling houses ?
Best of luck, Jeff, on all of your projects and future endeavors.

Hola Jeff, from the "Central Valley" curious does Zoila ever cook some great Mexican food!
I can relate to your OCD often addressed, but you and your staff along with Ryan are always eating out of styrofoam at your table. What's up with that? That's a little insite of my OCD.Enjoy your show it would be great to have you take a day off and drive up and visit me.
You could use a break from city to country.

Hi Jeff!
I love your show so much and it is such a joy to watch. You always make me smile. I was wondering what you would do to add life to a room I am about to paint? I want to paint it like a light blue. My mom, by the way, thinks you are amazing! We always laugh constantly when we watch the show. We so back you up on the decision to install the nanny cam. We are sorry about what happened in the end though. I hope everything works out in the end! I hope to talk to you soon! - Tara :)

Jeff,
You need to cut Jenni some slack, I just watched tonight’s episode, and you are an ass for scolding her about the check. You expect her to read your mind, and when she gets it wrong, you treat her like she is 2! maybe you should communicate better? You are lucky to have her, as your assistant and friend. Keep this up and you will be an even lonelier man than you already are.

Hi Jeff,
I had a chance to sit down and watch the marathon reruns of your show this evening. I like your style of perfection. It is sometimes hard for people to take at first, but if they last a little while with you they find out that you just want everything to be as appealing as possible. You have a real intuition about design. It is a treat to watch! I think that you need loyal employees with a good work ethic. So firing Chris was the right thing to do. I hope to meet you in person some day.

Love your show. Love your work. I'm a big fan I was just catching up on episodes and noticed that you required that moving and packing be completed before Mercury went retro. Great call. It led me to wonder if you are also paying attention to Feng Shui principles? I slso wondered how you are utilizing astrological methods in regards to managing your staff and clients. The shows' promos mention your interest in Metaphysics, which is what drew me to watch. This is the first I've seen on the show though. Would love to see more.
BTW, all things considered, I think you are dealing with the people in your life just fine. Give yourself a break, it is a disfunctional world. We are all imperfect, we are all perfectly human.
Peace,

Hey Jeff,
I love your show. YOU ROCK! Have a question. Buying an old house that needs a lot of TLC, about 2,230 sq. ft. How much do you think it will cost me to make to knock out 2 walls, put in a new kitchen and a bathroom.
Help?

Hey Jeff!
Your so dedicated to your work and that is beyond admirable. I love your show! It's like crack for me. haha
Ok so I have a story for you. Me, my mom, and my step-dad were watching Flipping Out and I was like mom, do you think Jeff Lewis is good-looking? And then my step-dad jumps in and says, Alina, he's gay. I was like no he's not! What? No!
I don't know if I'm just in denial but I would definitely like to know because I think you are perfect. Gay or not. I'm just dying to know.
Haha, I hope this makes you laugh if anything, because I am not at all trying to offend you.
Love ya!
