Truth Hurts

Hello, Hotel Hotties. Well this week’s episode was certainly one of many lessons. Retta, girl, what were you thinking?! Next time you come to The Parker for R&R, you need to kick Ashley to the curb and come yourself. I have never heard of anyone going on vacation to diet and be quizzed about every morsel of food they are going to put in their mouth! I grew up as an overweight young adult, and I can tell you that it is like any other addiction -- until you decide for yourself to do something about it, no one can help you.

Yes, America, I helped Retta get that Slinky Dog and fries and would have bought her another one myself if she could have eaten it! Vacation is a time to over indulge, especially at The Parker.

I just can't believe that the Parker would show themselves in such an unflattering light. I have been to the Parker quite a few times now, and have always found the service, massages, food, rooms, drinks impeccable. I Love it There!
I know it might make for better tv, but it really makes the Parker look bad. The two girls that gave Annette a makeover "like need to go to a like finishing school" They came across as so ditzy and vacant.
Annette was one of the first people I met at the Parker, and is so truly nice and genuine, she made a fantastic first impression, and is one of the reasons I love to go to the Parker as much as I can.
And as a business owner, if I heard one of my staff saying "Like, business is so slow, and I'm like, sooo bored" And then they start playing juvenile, unprofessional tricks on each other, I would hand them a mop and a bucket, and make them prove how much they want their boring job.
As for the Desert Cancer society lady...Perhaps this lady once had Cancer, and perhaps she started fund-raising with all the best intentions. But now I think we can all see that she enjoys (a little too much) her place on the Totem pole. Her power has gone to her head. She loves the control and the feeling of importance she gets from it. Her place in high (ugh) society. I know her type too well. This usually happens in every and any group, the mob mentality kicks in...what's the hierarchy, and what tier am I on. If I host fabulous luncheons, will I finally love myself?? :(
I can't stand self-important people like this. So tiresome. She thinks because who she is, everyone should drop everything, to jump to her beckon call.
Thankfully in my line of work, I don't have to suffer these types too much.
Really Micheal...you should be fired.
And GM Thomas...you really have to cut those nails, very unprofessional and doesn't really look nice on a handsome man like yourself.
With all the mishaps with the events, it really makes everyone seem inept, and I would have never thought that of the staff at The Parker. Surprising.

I was stunned, stunned I tell you, that you gave Ashley Retta's food service charges. Had that been me, there would have been hell to pay. She had no right to ask for that information and you had no right to provide it to anyone but the client and law enforcement agencies (should they ask). Oh, man, I'm steamed by that.

Now, let's talk about the practical joke twins. I'm sure they are lovely ladies, but they don't belong within a 5 block radius of a 5-star hotel. Letting the bartender walk out with that practical joke hanging from his backside?! I would have fired them both on the spot. Slow day or not, they're being paid to do a job. I'm certain that there was something more productive that could have been done. Don't get me wrong, I believe in having a good time at work. But there are ways to have a good time that allow you to act consistently with the purpose of the organization you work for.

I want to stay at the Parker!! Having worked in the hospitality industry (in Sales, no less!), I am surprised that Michael still has his job. It seems as though he was not needed at all and the event went off with everyone else's help. A ten year old can take the sales call and do follow up on the BEO. Is he bringing in so many sales from the outside that his presence would be missed? I hope that he is ok emotionally - the stress seems to be getting to him and it seems as though he is waiting for the ax to fall. If his job is stable, let him know. If it is not, sit him down for a serious talk and lay down the guidelines. I think he needs to know one way or another.

Hey John, this is my first blog on here. These are some observations I have made watching this show and am not trying to bash anyone. I have stayed at four star hotels and had fabulous service. You at the Parker put yourselves out there as a Five star resort and the service needs to be exactly that. You seem to put yourself out there all the time and your guests are always pampered and well taken cared for, as it should be. The Chef and her people in the Kitchen seem to have that same quality. However , there are some in the resort who seem to be in over their heads. When one person puts everyone in a bad position and makes their jobs twice as hard then that reflects on all. I like Micheal and I know about the compassion part. I do believe the GM and staff at the Parker has shown him great compassion and have tried their best to help him over come some of the problems he has. That being said, what Micheal did in last nights episode was unforgivable and a serious failure. He put the reputation of the resort and all that work there in jepordy. I am sure there will be some who will bash the GM if Michael is fired, but, I will not be one. His mistakes are now so serious that, if I heard right , has caused some clients not to want to work with him again, not good at all! This can cost the resort future busniess and once you have a bad reputation it takes a long time to bring it back up, if in fact it can be done at all. If all the people at the resort treated the guests as you do , there would be no problems at all. When I come to California, I will look forward to staying at the Parker and being served by a five star professional like yourself.

I think you do a great job! I am a compassionate person, I am also a business woman. As hard as it may be, Michael has had many chances and needs to find another job. He isn't up to the tasks at hand. Sorry.

Ashley would be a fun date. "Hey, instead of chocolate cake, why not see if we can get them to drizzle some chocolate over a half a pear? That's the same thing as chocolate cake, right? And instead of a cocktail, why not have a salad? People go on vacation to eat salads right?" What an awful vacation. Still, I'd rather spend the rest of my life with Ahsley than three seconds with Peggy, the cancer ceo woman. It must have been terrible to have been an employee on michael's no-show morning, but anything that distresses the world's peggy's is okay by me.

I have to defend Ashley to a certain extent. They made it clear in the show that the reason she was along on this trip was to determine why Retta had such trouble sticking to her eating plans while on the road. They weren't off on vacation together. She was doing her job, a job Retta is paying her to do. It may seem somewhat mean, but if Retta doesn't want to lose weight then she should just fire Ashley and do her own thing. There's nothing wrong with that, but if she is going to pay Ashley then Ashley needs to try to help her learn to face the temptations that being in restaurants and hotels bring. Remember that Retta is a stand-up comedian, and is on the road a lot.

John, I enjoy the show but wish you had more camera time. You seem to be so warm and personable. I especially like how down to earth you are. And, might I add, handsome as well. But the two anorexic chicks, Adrianna and Danielle, have got to go. There should be no place for them at a 5 star resort. They both look like hookers. And act like losers. There must be some job for them in Indio but not at the Parker.

i totally agree with karen for her comment on giving away those room charges. unbelieveable..you should know better not to give her rm charges to anyone but the guest herself. simply a front desk common sense. and also the comment you made after was uncalled for. i cant believe that you are the head of the concierge department. i have been in the industry for about 8 or so years and im pretty sure that you and your staff does not have nearly the 5 stars services. i dont think is even close to 3 stars. i know im being completely rude but is the truth. im sure above and beyond services is there but overall i see very little knowledge of customer servies from every department. i feel like the staff at the parker needs serious training and decipline.
