I grew up watching "The Bold and the Beautiful," a soap opera I can vividly remember. South Africa at the time had three channels, and whilst the rest of the world got to watch the Discovery channel, I got involved in the lives of Brooke and Ridge, their trials and tribulations, their undying love and of course their part in the mega-empire Fashion House -- Forrester Creations.

What I don't remember is having any of the characters actually going to work, or working at the mega-corporation for that matter. I don't recall ever seeing them battling it out with their manufacturers to get their product finished on time, or having a meltdown because UPS didn't deliver on time.
It was clear to me then that those in fashion looked at sketchbooks and had multiple kids, with multiple partners.
Now the point of my observation is not to reminisce and speculate as to how their love triangles managed to work themselves out. It is, rather, a realization that the business of fashion is hard, and being a business owner is HARDER.

Hey Kara! I absolutely fell in love with you last season during PR - both your personality and your design style. I'm so happy that you're enjoying your work even if it so hard (trust me, I don't envy you!) and that you're still making the ridiculously cute and fashionable clothes that I saw you make on Bravo...Furthermore, I am SO SO excited that you are a fellow BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL fan! That is the one soap opera I got into, and I loved the fashion edge to it. Brooke was always such a character on the show and I had tons of respect for her, even if she was the most hated, lol. I hate Ridge!!! P.S. I'm sorry I missed your trunk show on the 27th because I didn't know about it until now but I live just outside NYC so please update me on your next event or next line!!!!!! Love you, and good luck.

Hey! I came back to leave another comment after checking out your fabulous website. Your "decoy" collection for Fashion Week was just SO good I was in awe. You undoubtedly would have won the show if the judges weren't stupid and eliminated you one episode too early. Also, I think I shall buy one of your great mens t-shirts soon, I love the prints and color combos, especially the asphalt with turqoise. :)
On an unrelated note, what did you think of Bradley's exit tonight? He was my favorite, the person I was rooting for all along just like I did with you last season... so I was sad. My "new Kara" is out. :(

Hey there Kara. I'm 13 years old, and I loved your stuff last year and now, although I haven't seen many of your new garments. I think that you deserved to win, or at least get to the final three. I also think you could be your own model , because yo are incredibly beautiful. It's true! Well, I need to get a start at organizing my back-pack for school tomorrow. Please answer my message. Bye.

Hi, Kara: I absolutely loved the dress you were wearing on 'Project Runway' on your final episode as a competitor. Since it was a dress you had designed personally, I was wondering if a copy was available for retail sale, and if so, where?
Thanks, and best of luck to you!
