Mathew's Notes:
When Kathy’s father died there was an outpouring of supportive notes on her website from fans who felt moved by his life and saddened by his passing. Kathy shared many of these notes with her mother, who was also very moved by what was written.
Kathleen's Notes:
As for the conversation about "flicking" in the car...people often ask if Kathy is just as funny and sharp off camera as she is on. Yes, absolutely. She's naturally hysterical and you're talking to her one-on-one as opposed to seeing her perform for a sold-out arena.

I lost my dad a few years ago. When a sad feeling comes across me about his death, I think of a time he made me laugh when he was alive. There are MANY times he made me laugh, so I think of those times always. Your dad looks the same way.

Oh my dear Kathy......I am so touched by your testimony of love for your Dad....I lost my Mom 4 years ago and I still remember her laugh, and her wit, and her hilarity...maybe that is why my friends call me the "Kathy Griffin of the Midwest".......I so admire you for grieving publicly...I can't imagine.....I am so thrilled that you have those pictures of your Dad...those are heartwarming. I am sending you hugs and encouragement from Michigan.
P.S...I thought I was the only one who talked about "flicking".

Hi Kathy! I'm sending my condolences to you and your family. I also recently lost my father. My mother died 4 years ago. I know of the void you are feeling and want to let you know the good times you have with your father outweighs everything else. I watch your show all the time and I know the many laughs you had with him. Remember it will get easier to deal with as time goes on. On a lighter note, I love your show and wish you much success!!!

Anyway, I wanted to tell you how sorry I am about you losing your dad. I posted a reply on your blog.
I also wanted to let you know how much you have touched me in your show. Of course, I think you are HIlarious!!! You're smart, witty, cute, funny. I love it and I can really relate.
When your show first began this season, you talked about your divorce a bit and I just wanted you to know I know exactly how you feel. My marriage just ended after 16 years (!) and my soon-to-be-ex wrote me a letter detailing how he had NEVER loved me but only married me so he wouldn't "hurt my feelings." And he read it to me the NIGHT before our 16th wedding anniversary.
Anyway, I saw what you said about your ex and how you feel like he maybe never really loved you. You're too good for him. I take strength in what you said about remembering the good times AS good times whether they were true or not.
I just wanted to tell you to hang in there. You look great, you're very smart and funny, you have so much going for you. I hope he's sitting in some hole somewhere watching your show and seeing all the FANs you have and all the love people have for you.
Be strong. Be KATHY. You're so cool. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Your dad was a riot; the genuine article. Every time I see Sean Hannity, I laugh so hard thinking about your dad's suggestion as Hannity as the ideal "new son in law". The Mick Prince

Ms. Griffin, I Lost my mother almost three years and I know exactly what your going through. I was truly blessed to be able to be at her bedside when she took her last breathe. She was on a respirator also and we were giving the difficult task on making the decision of removing her from life support. Within 8 minutes she went on to a better place. I send My love and condolences to you and your family. May God be with you always and forever.
