Now all the contestants fit into one car.
Andrea, Carisa, Goil, Matt, and Michael’s tasty task this week was to create a Chef’s Table adjacent to the kitchen of a fine restaurant. Our celebrity client and guest judge was hoping for more than a fantastic gastronomic experience for his future guests; he wants to engage all five senses.
Did anyone notice how Andrea was glowing when Todd visited her during the design phase? It was certainly a harbinger of things to come. When you love what you do, it shines through, and not only in Andrea’s rich textural room that you simultaneously felt impressed by and yet comfortable with.

Andrea smashed it out of the park.
Matt was good too, nice mood, nice warm color.
Goil was fun quirky place, just a little busy. Good for a hip Thai joint.
The other two: Michael gets the boot and good for him! He hasn't made a good room yet, didn't do much design of anything.

She was very exited, but at the same time must have been extremely worried. Didnt she say she tought a class on restaurant design? It would have been pretty awful if she lost, lol, but infact she did an amazing job! Certainly agree with the way everything fused, including the different textures, and loved those chairs. The long piece she considered "art" was a great idea. It looked very good with the dishes adn all the things needed for the table. No wonder she teaches.
I was surprised to see Michael go. I thought that both his room and Carisa's were unfinished, but at least Michael put a little more thought into his design. Carisa was the worst for me. The proportions of the room compared to the table were totaly off, and she didnt add anything to make up for that. Nothing stood out. Even that wonderful table was lost in the room. The paint in the room made it look even longer with those stripes. It had no atmosphere to me.
I wish I lived in LA, lol, so I could have my stuff on the show too :(

I loved your Louis VI hairstyle and clothes--innovative and keeps people thinking. You have been a proponent for the innovative--restrained by elegance and sumptuousness throughout the show.
It is helpful to read your commentary, which is an education in what is beyond mere personal taste--excellence and sublimity.

I find that one of the reasons I watch Top Design is to see what Kelly is going to wear and how she does her hair this week. I'm a designer/ fine artist and I can't wait each week to hear her comments. They are alway right on the same page of what I'm thinking. I love how she's a great designer inside and out.

The Black shirt and the hair was awful and I usually love your clothes, I am not a rude person but you are truly very hard to watch. I wish you happiness.

Kelly,
Ignore the comments about how you dress - you always look
beautiful and interesting. Anyway, how you dress is really not very important. What's really important is how you judge and what you have to say about the designers. And your comments are always the most insightful, powerful, and truthful .
I think Matt always designs rooms that are extremely beautiful, classy, tasteful and elegant. At this point, I'd pick him as the top designer. Andrea designed a beautiful chef's table, but she had a real leg up and advantage because she teaches restaurant design. But she deserved to win this one with her beautiful choice and arrangement of natural, warm materials.
Goil's rooms are always very interesting and unusual - he has a terrific modern sense of style, very creative, artistic, and in great taste. Ulta-modern can be done garishly and badly, but Goil NEVER does it badly. I happened to love his garden chandelier ! Like everything he does, it was interesting and unusual. But I think he needs to listen more to the particular charactherists the judges are asking for.
Carisa has a very good sense of style too, but I don't think she has the level of talent that Matt, Andrea and Goil have. And she has a very strong ego and a personality that can be difficult to work with.
I knew Micheal would get booted. Personally, he's a wonderful, very kind and sweet guy, but he has a long way to go with his color selections and overall designs. Often, it seemed like he didn't really listen to the characteristics and qualities the judges were asking for.

What is up with Goil? It seems he is deconstructing quickly. He is just falling apart. I don't see him lasting long. I think Clarissa's "put the blame on everyone else" routine is getting old fast. I think she's next.

I've watched every episode of Top Design so far, and I'm still not
understanding the point of the show: to see whether or not the contestants can, in a painfully short time, design and execute a room that looks pretty much like any room you'd see in a magazine?
I loved Andrea's design, LOVED IT, and it's mind blowing that entire rooms can be created so quickly. As a game show, TD succeeds. But I think TD doesn't reward its contestants for thinking outside the box or developing their own styles. Luxuriously safe seems to be the winning combination.
My favorite part of the show is at the end, where the audience
is treated to Margaret's bloodless face, Johnathan's foppish ties, and Kelly's outfit and hair disaster of the day. Listening
to fashion comments from this group is such twisted irony.

It's amazing how much better everyone (even the bottom three) to impress you guys this time. In Carissa's room, I almost wanted ryan to pop out of nowhere and paint orange swirly designs on the blue walls.
You, Ms. Wearstler always rock awesome fashion on the show, but this week, I nearly had a panic attack thinking that you had been taken over by evil fashion demons from 1986. The shirt with the huge shoulders and the equally enormous hairdo? Yikes! Though I suppose high fashion is trying to revive the scarier images from the era of shoulder pads.
But, if I were as tall and gorgeous as you, I would certainly seek out a way to replicate that beautiful gown/jeans ensemble from the Limon party episode.
I almost watch the show just to see what you're wearing :P. Keep us guessing!

Your remarks are original and sometimes SO funny. You can be catty without trying to be catty and funny without trying to be funny. Genuine. "Top Design" is very entertaining on many different levels & I'm glad to be hooked for at least a season.
By the way, your "assisted living" sound byte still makes me laugh.
Keep up the great work & honey, you look like a knockout - every single show.
Love the fashion. Love the hair. Love the originality.

I realize it's too late for this cycle of TD, but if you judge next year--I am pleading with you--get another dresser/stylist!
You are a beautiful woman and a professional in your field. So why the costumes?
All I could think of this week was "Frau Blucher in a King Charles Wig." And this week's costume wasn't the worst one you've worn, either.
The worst thing Michael Kors (Project Runway) could say about a designer's outfit was "You know those newspaper columns the day after a red carpet? The ones titled 'What Was She Thinking?' Your design would be the headliner."
Kelly, your costumes in this show deserve a "WWST?" magazine of their own.
Seriously, how can you expect people to take you seriously as a professional when you agree to be dressed like that?
Please, next season (if there is a next season) get a designer/dresser who will do your beauty and professionalism justice...and not make you look like the butt of a very bad design joke.

Well at last Michael has gone. That was along time coming and a lot of dodged bullets. However much he shouldn't have been on the show in the first place, his refusal to commment on the others rooms was one of the highlights of this series, the top chef series and project runways. It is a non u question and he showed some real character by not giving in. Well done and good luck in our future Michael

Hello Kelly. I was raised in Hollywood only a couple of blocks from the Broadway Hollywood department store, back in the 1950s. I have a photo of my sister and I sitting on Santa Claus' lap at the store at Christmas time. As an adult, I have come to love the history of Hollywood, it's architecture and the classic movies. Imagine my surprise and delight to find your name as the designer for the conversion of the masterpiece to high-end lofts. I was so thrilled! Hollywood is coming back and will become the fashion-forward design center it once was, thanks to great designers and the new developers who understand the history of the area. One thing I did not see mentioned about the Broadway Hollywood is that a young Ayn Rand was fascinated by the building when it was under construction and her observations of it was the basis of her writing the philsophical novel "The Fountainhead". That the building is being reborn with your help is something I can't thank you enough for.
I also admit to looking forward to your personal design style each week. You are always innovative, striking, fascinating and fashion forward. I have really come to love the show and designers. Thanks for the great work you do for promoting a new excitment in design "out of the box"! You rock!

Hey Kelly,
You are one of the most stunningly beautiful and breathe taking women I have ever laid eyes on. Liked the Louis the XIV outfit; didn’t like the hair! It was too much, very overpowering! Please, please, leave the big hair at home or better yet in the 80’s. OK, moving along...your feed back is always on point and your periodic cynicism is brilliant!
As for the contestants: You guys should really have talk with Carisa, her arrogance is repulsive. She should get the boot for having such a lousy disposition!
Loved Andrea’s room-she totally deserved the top design. I predict her and Michael will be the final two and man will it be difficult to choose which of the two will win. Goil is extremely talented but someone needs to give him a xanax before he has a breakdown. I think he should stick to architecture and leave interiors alone.
P.S. If you were single I would so ask you out on a date! Take care and stay beautiful!
