Bravotv.com: This one is from Ellen, who says: “I have three boys and a girl. They’re all under the age of 11, and I love them a lot. At the same time, I’d love to be successful with my home business, and I can’t figure out how to manage the time. You make it look so easy. What’s your secret?”
I just multi-task. When the kids are in tae kwon do class, I make phone calls, and I write letters. And look, I have help with the kids so I actually do have some free hours during the day. Also, I don’t watch a lot of television, and that’s a big time saver.
I generally, (not lately, because I’m so pregnant) – but I generally start off my morning with an hour of exercise, usually an hour. And I run on a track at the Y, which is easy and very hypnotic, and so I can go over bullet points in my head. I need to speak to this person. I just sort of manage, how am I going to get from here to there. I think that the running helps me keep my whole day organized. And with running, you get the added bonus of the endorphin rush. And then you’re like a bankrobber on meth. You can just plow through your day on endorphins. It’s awesome. You’re skinny, you’re happy, and you get it all done, and all you have to do is join the Y. Who knew?

Laura, I had six boys and only one girl. She was born second so she was a bit bossy and a real help with the others. Unfortunately she died at 14. My kids are all grown now and amazing young men. I wouldn't give you any price for any of them. I drove a charter bus while I was raising them and basically raised them by myself. My husband was in the Navy during Vietnam and not home much. We divorced after our 6th son was born and since He was still in the navy and I had a great job, I was awarded very little in child support. I know what you mean about multi-tasking and also know that you have to develop the "ear" to know when they are in trouble and when to interfere. We could talk about them for days. I am a TV-holic and one of my favorite shows is" Desparate Housewives" and I loved Lynettes comment a couple of weeks ago when she and her husband decided to try and get custody of his child by a previous relationship. He asked, "You'd really fo that?" She said, "yes". He"I thought you didn't want any more kids." She" I didn't want the four we have now, but they've grown on me." Love those babies, they grow up much too quickly. And good luck on your business. I commend you. PS: Grandchildren are fun, you can spoil them and then send them home:>) Linda

Coming from Michael Kors (who wore the same outfit on each program) Best of luck to you with your family and fashion career. I loved your designs

I posted my comments to another fan site, but I wanted to make sure your or your publicist read my email. On Season 3 of Project Runway, I thought your clothes were the best. They were expertly crafted and extremely well tailored. In addition, they were clothes that most women could wear. Your designs were not trendy, but fashion forward, classic, and classy. The clothes were not staid, but sophisticated like you. There was nothing in your collection I would not wear; something I could not say about the other designers. I would love information on how to get in touch with you to design a dress for me or to modify one of the designs you submitted for Project Runway. I am heavy chested and the deep plunging neckline will not work for me, but with little modifications, you designs would look so good in my closet!!!

Laura, I would like to comment on the whole of season 3 which for the first time I watched yesterday and couldn't stop. I was a bit upset when they stated your designs were a bit old. I am now 37, but since I was 23 I have been wearing vintage clothing because the lines are so wonderful and different, and alot of your pieces had that timeless look. I loved all of your designs, but am a bit older now and after 3 kids to miss shapen to wear the plunging necklines, but they were beautiful and not too revealing! My main question is do/will you have pieces for public purchase and will they be affordable for the non-famous. By the way, I liked your charmuse piece you took out after Tim asked if it was even pretty. Being an artist myself, people have different tastes and to choose between the last four designers was just personal preference, and if I was a judge, you would have had my vote.
My favorite piece you did was the cocktail dress (you won the challenge)and the dress with golden fringe on the 12 piece runway show. Good luck to you, you have a great talent.

I thought the idea behind that dress (with the beading inside the slit to be seen only when you walk) was so innovative. I also have to give you credit for questioning Jeffrey. I still believe he got some help to finish that collection. And then he went over budget and was allowed to correct it by "losing the wigs" rather than something from the collection. I just hope he doesn't teach his values to his son. He is disrespectful to everyone. Did you have that baby yet? He's lucky to have you for a mommy.

Laura.. I just saw the season finale for the first time and oh boy I was exited! I was nervious and was really amazed on the quality, perfection, elegance on your designs. I would buy them all if I had the money! and would have given you the first price if was a judge.
I was really dissapointed on the judges decision... Jeffrey? because he is "creative"?
In my opinion theres two markets for fashion: the one in runways with women size 0, for clothes that only 1% (or less?) of the population can wear and that sells magazines (~the aspirational factor~). The other is the fashion for the 99% of the women, the real people! and Laura, I think that 99% of the population was cheering for you, the kind of women that doesnt spend thousands of dollars on a shirt or a short, but spends a little extra for an evening gown to look amazing for one night. Too bad the judges thought on your collection as predictable.. what is wrong with evening gowns? why would I want to spend extra on a pair of shorts or on a see-through shirt? where would I wear that? (Im 25 for the record...)
Congratulations again.. you didnt win a bunch of money, but you have womens admiration (who has 5 kids, pregnant and still makes that colletion??) and my 100% support
Thanks!

Your presentation, color choices and elegance recalls the 1930s-1960s and the great designers of the past. I honestly believe your line could be a return to the "fabulously glamourous" eras I still enjoy in the old movies and Hurrell photographs. Laura, I think you're a total inspiration. Your clothes are so classic, and I would wear every single one of them - and I'm only 26! They're not old at all! I agree with everyone - it took a strong woman to speak up about Jeffrey, but at the same time it took maturity to admit that Jeffrey was innocent, and welcome him back as a designer on OFW. You're beautiful, such a calm mother (which I hope to be one day!), and incredible designer. Hey, I'm a retailer, and I'd buy your stuff, simply because you're consistent, not just in design but in quality as well, and because you appeal to the classic woman. Not every woman - modern or no - is courageous with fashion, and you head her in that direction very gently, you softly encourage her to adventure, and that's a feat. Your clothes are something a conservative woman wanting a little more out of life would definitely wear. I couldn't understand why designing 'old' was such a bad thing, because that is a market, the same way that Uli has a market with resortwear. It's marketable, it's chic, and I think you'll make a huge splash in the fashion world! Kudos for venturing out of your comfort zone with fashion, even at your age and with your humongous family! Hope to see more of you!

Hello. I can sew a pattern, but I want to really sew. Design my own patterns and sew, but I don't want to go to fashion school. How can I find someone or someplace that will teach me how to design and make clothes just for myself?

Hi Laura,
You truly are Supermom~~!! When can we expect your clothing line to be in stores and which stores can we find them? Also will there be a "Laura Casual" line as well as your famous sparkly v-neck evening wear??

Laura, youre amazing. I love your ideas. I wish you had won. I think your designs are wonderful! You have found something you do well, and you ran with it...ok, walked quickly with 5 kids and a husband in tow to 'make it work'!! Ok! So! the burning question...how long does the world have to wait before we can start buying your designs off the rack??? You are in serious demand. Nobody, save Coco and Audrey H. , in recent history, has made black look so good.

Hi Laura,
You have been my ultimate favorite designer on Project Runway. I turn 50 on November 13th and I'm so frustrated with clothing for women my age group. I'm still hanging onto my figure as I move into the next decade but it's getting tougher to find nice stylish clothing. When will you have some off the rack designs for the average girl? Please tell me it will be soon.

i still don't understand why you didn't win the runway, and as for jeffrey i agree with you, when you told Tim that there was no way he did all that work my himself. girl he had someone to help you could she it in his eyes. If he hadn't been guilty he would have cussed you out. and you know that. he has no heart for people, i lost all respect for him when he treated that girls mother on the show so badly. he is a spoiled ex-drug addict and they all will lie. but the worst part tim took up for him, he knew he didn't do all that work. love your work i will buy your dresses

HI Laura,
I think you are a fantastic designer!!! I think you should have won season 3. Jeffery cheated. There is no way he did all that work by himself. Your designs were the best of all of the three seasons. I have been sewing since I was 6 years old. Are you doing any work for the general public? My only daughter is getting married in March. I cannot find the dress that I "have designed in my mind" I have been seriously ill since 2003(I have been so ill, I have lost over 110 pounds and have been hospitalized many, many times) and I have been unable to sew the dress that I invision. I would be thrilled beyond words if you would consider designing this dress. I live in the New Orleans area and was hardly hit by Hurricane Katrina and our family is still recovering from it. Between Katrina and my illness I cannot make this dream dress a reallity. Please contact me if you can. If you are too busy, I really understand. Good Luck on your future. I am sure you will achieve your dream. You are brilliant!!
Sincerely,
Darby Heine

Have you ever considered designing maternity clothes??? Clothes have gotten better over the years (women don't look like circus freaks), but I personally think still lacking elegance. What do you think????

Laura,
I thought your collection for the finale was very smart. You deserve all the accolades. But what really intrigued me was your choice of music. I thought it was great and by far the best out of all 4 of you. Can you tell me the name of the group who performed the music? I am a musician and I would love to hear other music by this group.
Thanx.

Laura, I saw you on Tim Gunn's program-so you must be creating clothing. How can I purchase? Do you have a recommendation for me, a 55 year old woman, a size 8, to wear for my upcoming wedding? It's a small family wedding, about 35 people, in a lovely little church in San Francisco in December. It's nearly impossible to find an evening dress with sleeves of any length, and not black. Help!

Sorry for being so late with this entry. i just got into this Project Runway madness over the last few weeks. I was sitting home one day recovering from Hip Surgery and i started watgching this and became instantly hooked. I for the life of me cannot figure out why, but i just became glued to the tube. My wife and I just love your collection and can't wait to see it in a store somewhere in the city. we think you should have won instead of Jeffery because we think you have a true eye for classic fashion for a mature and upwardly mobile woman and Jeffrey is the true ONE NOTE. You are class and distinction personified. If there is a website that you have yor collection on or store we can go to it would be our pleasure to come and support you. YOU ROCK AND WE FEEEL YOUR VIBES. KEEP ON KEEPIN ON.

Laura,
I have been a fan of "Project Runway" and you have been one of my favorite designers. We are about the same age and your stood out in the group of the talented designers you worked with. I like your classic approach, your strong work ethic, your ability to go above and beyond what is expected. I hope to see more of your design work, whether it is apparel, jewelry or in building design/architecture. I am amazed at how your balance a large family with making the time to follow your own pursuits as well.
Perhaps you could become a regular columnist or contributor to a fashion/design/style publication. I would enjoy seeing what you have to say, what you have seen, what you are doing.

Let me start by saying I still think your designs are the best of all the PR contestants. Your season and all others, you are the top designer to my mom and I. We are both huge fans of yours!
I am going to be getting married and I have started looking at wedding gowns. I was hoping you had a website or sold some of your clothes. I want something in that 40's femme noir, flapper sort of simplicity that you do. Any suggestions where to look or are you looking for something to work on??

I love your style. I felt the clothes that you designed on Project Runway were so beautiful. I am getting married this Spring. I chose a simple dress that my Bride's maids can wear again even to work rather than some tacky throw away. I went with a color called purple-blossom. I thought it was more of a blue but one friend says it is periwinkle while others say lavendar. Anyway, the dress is knee length and simple and definately not formal. What shoes would you advise me to choose. One has asked that I please choose flats and I have been given other suggestions. I would love your advice for both the shoe color and style. Please help. Thank you.

More or less nothing seems important. It's not important. Shrug. Whatever. I've just been hanging out doing nothing, but eh. I can't be bothered with anything lately.
