A pink suit, Van Cleef and Arpels, and the beautiful Kelly Choi. Fashion week was upon us. All of New York was abuzz, thousands of people flew in with the idea that they would be seeing the newest and best of the fashion lot. Then suddenly there was the sight of black lacquer surround by a red carpet Misha Barton, Jennifer Hudson, Bai Ling, Jessica Simpson. Camera flashes, running at full speed. I do not know how anyone's eyes get used to it. Then there was Fern Mallis. Parties, Shows, everything from Malandrino to Willow, to Zac Posen.
I remember my first fashion week here, seeing the shows, meeting Liz Tilberis, Princess Diana, Shalom Harlow, Linda Evangelista. How different things are now.

Malan... your collection was magnificent. Your originality, innovative ideas and spirit infuse every piece you do. That's why I continue to be a fan. I was thrilled to see Melrose... I think she is an amazing model and she is another one who though she wasn't the top winner of the show she was on, as shown that she had the courage, enthusiasm and passion to make her dream come true and shares that with all of us. I would love to have met Ms. Malandrino... it's clear she is an extrodinary person and I enjoyed seeing her so much on Tim Gunn's Guide to Style. You are all great inspirations to me and countless others.

Had you won that challenge, it's obvious you would have taken the whole thing. But who cares? Your fashions are exquisite, your fanbase is enormous and we all love you. Life is good...and we're all lucky to have you as our friend. Soon you'll be a household word and we'll all be able to say..."we sort-of knew him when." :-)

Malan,
How wonderful for you! I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! When I watched Project Runway - I cried with you when they did your interview and you shared your story about your childhood and your mother throwing out your sketches and never wanting to see them in the house again. It just broke my heart. I knew right then that the fashion world hadn't seen the last of you. You are obviously a determined young man. I think your collection was exquisite and reflects who you are. You are truly a class act that every designer should emulate. Kudos to you. Bravo!! Continued success to you. We love you!!

Malan's show was delightful in every way. I am hoping that the designs go into production so that we can purchase them retail. Don't forget us "size twelves," Malan!

My beautiful star. You have no idea how proud I am of you. You've gone so far and achieved so much. Never doubt yourself for a second because you are too good for that. This collection was a testament to your genius and hope to see so much more. But right now, I miss you like the dickens and I can't wait to see my little movie star when he gets back. I'm rootin' for you, kid.
