It was a cold rainy morning, the wind coming from the west was shrill. My driver pulled up to the Lincoln center and there was a line of people around the building. Darlings, it was the morning of the premiere runway show.
I had a chance to meet some of you as you waited patiently in line. I was escorted in and then there she was... The Beautiful Nina Garcia! I was then introduced to the Housewives and then the show began. Darlings each designer gave their all to make it on the show that would change my life forever.

Malan... what a glam night you had! You're writing style is brilliant. Thanks for taking the time to share what the new season 4 designers are about. LOVED IT. Okay.. gotta agree that Christian's outfit was amazing... not sure if I liked it more because his name is the same as mine or not.. but I sure did like it. Rami's was genius ... simple, yet dramatic and Amanda is amazing, isn't she? My personal favorite is Kit's... chic, elegant and reminds me of Zac Posen.
Continued success to you, my glamorous friend! Write on!!

Very interesting designs. I think this season will be a fun one. About your question of who to interview...I'm leaning toward Rami, Simone and Jack. These are just based on the fashions I've seen. Maybe I should study the designers themselves and see who appears to be the most interesting.

Malan, I am always happy to read your blog entries, and this one especially because I get my first look at the new "Project Runway" contestants. I appreciate your remarks about the garments since we viewers don't get an up close look at the details at home. I already have a few early favorites, Rami among them.
I saw some of your work in the December Elle magazine Style 360 section. Your white sheath dress was my favorite -- very Audrey Hepburn.

Your voice is like velvet and satin......OK, on to the fashion! I think that Kit stole the show. I am a simple housewife who loves Project Runway as only a frustrated designer could! But, her piece was the only really innovative design If I, as untutored as I am in the ways of fashion, can be bored with the designs of the others then something is wrong. (ie. Uli's use of the same dress design and pattern in everything she made. She even won the photo outing with the SAME offering. I think she is amazing but only as a one note designer). There does seem to be something extraordinary shining on the chartreuse coat but the inner outfit was sloppy. I look forward to seeing some really courageou use of materials and color as well as design this season.
Malan, you needed more time, as did many of the others, to complete your design visions. I also think that your insecurity about your family holds you back. Please find someone strong to help you focus. Don't look around to see what is on either side of you. Look in the mirror and you will find your confidence.
Good luck.

I couldn't agree more about Christian. His hair is a bit severe :), but you can't deny the awesome McQueen traits he has. The tailoring is exquisite. I'm excited to see where he and Rami go. It was hard to get a good reading on how the others will do, but I suppose that is the most fun part of the show - seeing what the designers come up with each week! Can't wait to see what the future episodes bring!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Malan!

Malan... I'm watching season 3 this very second, just now because I'm Mexican and we get shows after a long time, unfortunately. I have to say, I've fallen in love with your style. I was looking for a way to contact you and say congrats on your success! You are wonderful as a designer and may I say, as a person as well. I wish you an even greater success.
