Last year I did an event in San Diego, in conjunction with the Season 3 premiere of Project Runway at the Mall of The Americas near the Mexico-US border. Bravo, Cox Media, and Fashion Career College had asked if I would host an event and fashion show there. I guess because of the success of this event, I was asked again by the same clients to do another event this year.
This time, Fashion Career College (FCC), a fashion school based in San Diego was having a unique competition, in conjunction with Junior Retailer Charlotte Russe. Open to anyone wanting to go to this fashion school, a contest was held, where they were given a certain amount of fabric, an allotted amount of time, and they were to drape agarment that best represented the Charlotte Russe customer and trend of the upcoming season. At the end of the day, the finished garments were to be judged by a panel of judges, including myself, as well as a rep from Charlotte Russe, a TV news anchor from the local Telemundo station, as well as local San Diego fashion personalities. The Grand Prize would be a full paid one-year scholarship to the school PLUS Charlotte Russe would manufacture and sell the winning design! I wished I would have had a chance like this starting out.

I agree,I wish there were something like this when I was their age. I was given the option of being a teacher, a stewardess(the term used in those days)a secretary or a nurse. Since I wanted to be an MD I chose the nursing slot. Closest to my goal.Young women weren't expected to dream beyond their lot in life. From what is shown, the dresses look gorgeous. You couldn't have had an easy time determining the winner. I so enjoyed your time on Project Runway, Nick. This is just icing on the cake to be able to continue to read about your new projects.
