The Tim visits are always a treat to work on (I sound 70), mainly because you get to enter each designer’s reality and not the one that was created for them with a five-block radius between Parsons and Atlas. Heading out to see the designers and their collections in the ATL, the Big Apple, location set for Miami Vice, and City of Lost Souls, I felt like a kid who was getting a sneak peak at his Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa presents early. (Don’t want to show favoritism.) Plus, stockpiling air miles and a per diem means my dream of disappearing like Keyser Soze is that much closer to becoming a reality. (“And poof, he’s gone.”)
However, when traveling with Tim Gunn there are few things one should know:
- The man consistently wants to help carry 80-pound production cases while wearing fully pressed suit and shinned dress shoes despite being, what we refer to as, “talent.” (I carry your bags, Tim. That’s what I get paid to do.)
- He’s an efficient packer and his one small bag makes your bag look like it was packed in the dark by a group of kindergarteners.
- The cloak of 4:30 am travel is not enough to hide the fact that Tim is still “Tim Gunn” or “that guy from Project Runway” and people WILL recognize him.
- Before even getting to the metal detectors, Tim will be stopped no less than six times by young girls with camera phones, once by a 40-year-old man with a cellphone clipped to his belt asking for an autograph for his wife “who is a really big fan of the show” (suck it up, dude, you like it too) and twice by busty redheads who want their cleavage signed. This process takes 45 minutes.
- Tim will complain about BEING in first class away from “the crew” (producer/cameraman/sound operator), which is asinine, because given the choice, I would enjoy every minute of extra legroom or opportunity to not sit next to someone blasting Enya from their headphones. (Really? Enya!?!).

Thanks for the great summary of Episode 13, Behind the Scenes. Wtf is going on with Jeffrey? I couldn't believe that Laura went that low! One of the things that I noticed about jeffrey is that he was the most focused and professional of the designers. His garments were always completed with plenty of time. I have no doubt that he could provide the quality completion which the other designers were griping about. He survived all the drama of Angela and Darlene just to have this crap thrown on him. Shame on Laura, whether she's correct or not, for going behind Jeffrey to Tim. I have understood all of her other little moody maneuvers cuz of the hormones, but this is unforgivable! Please don't take Jeffrey auf! His collection looks gorgeous!

so i'm pretty sure that laura's life would make me jump off of a very tall building. i'm proud of myself when i get up before noon on a day off work, let alone dealing with five children and all of that.
at any rate, what i really wanted to comment about was telling you that i will be sad when you aren't doing this blog anymore (i'm assuming once the season is done next week?) and i think you should continue somewhere else. i mean, really, where else can you find so many random (and possibly crazy) people who care about what you do with your life besides the internet?

Mr. Rucker:
After reading today's Blog, I can say with great assurance that you are a poet, not seen since the likes of Reverand Jim, whom you may catch, when in LA, eating soup at Canter's at 2:00 a.m. Don't sell yourself short, claiming to be merely "a dork". Rather, when able to refernce Keyser Soze and Brittany Murphy in the same story, you, my friend, are no mere mortal, but truly a Lightning Rod of Pop Culture. The only thing seemingly missing from your recount of the "Under The Gunn Tour 2006" was Bon Jovi's "Dead Or Alive" as the soundtrack.
Look me up when next in LA LA Land, and I'll take you to the magical place where Eddie Izzard goes for beef jerky and batteries after midnight. Life is a cabaret.
Keep up the good work.
Your fan,
Jackie

Rucker, please comment on the second half of the show... please please please. Your self-depcrecating stories are amusing and if I weren't a married woman I'd say I loved you, but come on, I want to know what happened when they all got to NY and Laura made her announcement; I could care less about the rat-ta-tat-tat of the jackhammers and your credit line.

I liked your show except the end of Episode 12 when Prego Red head accused other cast member of having wk done. Very Malicious and unproven at best, this should have booted her into 4th place for such an acusation.

Really, Rucker? Hotlanta? ay-ya...
Tim Gunn seems so sweet. The best part of this episode was when we got to see his feet whilst talking with Uli on the beach. Had to do a tivo pause just to verify that because I'd never seen a pair so... pale. :) jk Tim *hug*

even though i enjoyed your blog, you didnt mention the bull that Laura pulled on Jeffery! that was a low thing, saying that he got outside help and stuff, and just because his line was way better style-wise, and was made beautifully doesnt mean that he didnt do it. she needs to grow up and just take that Jeffery is a better designer.
