There's a rumor going round that the citrus industry is trying to get people to call them "Moro Oranges" now. Apparantly the "blood" part is turning people off. Fooey! They're delicious and the reddish-pink color is a bit bloody beautiful, as the Brits would say. Blood oranges taste like a cross between a grapefruit and an orange and a lemon. And I can’t get enough. Seriously, though, they do stain your clothes red, so be careful. --Adam S.

I live for blood orange season. If I ever decide to move south again, I will move to a location where I could get them all year long. We Americans try to "tame" everything to our liking. Well, blood oranges have been called that for much longer than they've been "popular" I love to eat and cook with them and feel that if the name were changed to Moro oranges, we'd probably call them Moro "Blood" Oranges anyway.
viva la blood orange!

What about the blood oranges that don't come from Moro? I think the whole idea is silly. Keep the name "blood oranges". I'm still calling "arugula" rocket and tender stems or aspiration "broccolini". Why are we losing all the fun names for food?
