Half Nelson

I was happy to see that Ryan Gosling got nominated for an Academy Award (Best Actor), but surprised to see that both the movie Half Nelson as well as the other leading actor, Shakira Epps, were snubbed from the nominations this year. Shakira's acting maturity is years beyond her age. Her knowing yet pained facial expressions throughout the movie say everyting without having to spell it out. She and Ryan together make the movie. Coming to DVD soon. Definitely one to watch. Ms. Epps, and Half Nelson. --Barry C.

Hey! Thanks for the post. I loved this film too. If it had a little more momentum at the box office, it could have gotten picture, director and supporting actress nominations (considering Abigail Breslin was nominated for supporting actress for Little Miss Sunshine). However, the actress's first name is Shareeka, not Shakira.
