I've noticed a lot of people wearing purple lately, and there's really only one joke that can be made. But who doesn't love the, um, huggable McDonald's icon?
But it got me to thinking, what is he? I'm pretty sure he's supposed to represent a milkshake, but honestly, who knows? Well, the good people at Wikipedia provided me with a very detailed entry on Grimace and Grimaces around the world. Check it out here. It is, in a word -- hysterical (and a little bit frightening.)
You should also, no kidding, check out the entry on Mayor McCheese.

um. hilarious. So, I'm pretty sure that Grimace is a mid-to-late stage alcoholic: Irish father, frat boy binge drinking at the cancun like island of his people..... His joyous spirit helps everyone overlook the fact he's a little slow and clumsy sometimes. That's the drink....
Nickname is Shaky?
Also, I love the early-on second pair of (clearly evil) arms. Once they are removed, he is loveable and emasculated.... I mean, as much as he was masculine prior, what with the purple.... thievery in combination with physical heft could lend a 4 armed Grimace a kind of thuggish, macho, derringdo....

See, I picture him as small-town homosexual, who has to drive four hours to the nearest gay bar. He lives in a small little town, does some volunteer work. Might be a librarian. That kinda thing.
