First of all let's stop pretending you actually do work at your office because you don't. You know it. I know it. So what better way to pass the time at a soul-sucking work space then music -- good music.
If indie rock is your thing (with the occasional splash of reggae, hip-hop, bluegrass and country) then you need to check out KEXP 90.3 FM Seattle. It's "where music matters." It's also a terrestrial radio with an amazing online reach. The station is nonstop music with only the smallest of commercial breaks. They play some of the best breaking bands in the Seattle area and beyond -- bands with names like Von Südenfed and Vampire Weekend -- but they also play more established acts like The White Stripes, Broken Social Scene and The Pixies.
Billionaire co-founder of Microsoft Paul Allen is said to have lent the station considerable financial support which might explain its unparalleled success as a traditional FM station with an online presence.
You can access KEXP via your Windows Media Player, Real Player, or iTunes radio player (look under the Alternative tab) or just simply visit the site, which has a live playlist that automatically updates after each song has played. The web site also has an interactive feature where you can write to the DJs and request songs live as well as an impressive archive of in-studio live music performances from bands like The Arcade Fire and TV on the Radio.
In other words it's the perfect staff pick for music lovers and people who hate their job. Thank us later.
