I absolutely love Barnes and Noble but I have to admit, BN has got nada on El Ateneo in Buenos Aires. This theatre-turned-bookstore is impressive with high ceilings, elegant drapes, and rows of DVDs and CDs, but what’s awesome about El Ateneo is that although it is no longer a theatre, the look and feel remains (there is a theatre box and a “stage” where a café is now located). Oh, and they sell great books too.
