As a New Yorker, I love bars. In moderation, I think they are wonderful places, but, like most wonderful things, idiots tend to ruin them from time to time. There are many bar behaviors I find deplorable, but the most offensive one to me is a flagrant disregard for jukebox etiquette. People, it is indecent to play 6 live Metallica songs in a row. Jewel is also unacceptable. And don't make us all sit through the High School Musical soundtrack just because you and your drunk buddies find it hilarious -- this is a bar, everyone here is a grown-up, and there is no room for Zac Efron and his Disney cohorts here.
There's also the matter of infuriatingly overplayed songs that need to be banned from bars forever. Readers, I beg you to think twice before you put your dollar in for the following songs:
That Was a Crazy Game of Poker -- O.A.R. (This one is very important and most definitely includes the 17 minute live version!!!)
Mr. Brightside -- The Killers
Livin' on a Prayer -- Bon Jovi
Here I Go Again -- Whitesnake
Welcome to the Jungle -- Guns N Roses
Don't Stop Believing -- Journey
Sympathy for the Devil -- The Rolling Stones
Playing those songs in a public place is just cruel. There are more than just those seven songs in most jukeboxes, so why are those the only ones anyone ever plays? Any ideas? Any songs I missed that you can't stand either?

Thank God someone finally had the nerve to say something. The 80's are gone...Let those quirky-not so cute anymore-pop songs GO! They irritated me then, and they REALLY irritate me now! Music is a huge part of my past and present, however, not everyone has the same emotional reaction to those "old faves" like you do. Be conscience of the atmosphere, and the general age group of the bar you're in. The last thing you want to do is bring the mood down, or irritate people enough that all they want to do is head out the door!
