40's the New 30

Now that I'm 40, where do I start ... How about my party? Simon had full control of planning my birthday party and would not give me any details. I was a bit nervous. It was my 40th and I wanted it to be special ... and boy was it! Welcome aboard the Paradiso (a 85-foot charter yacht in Newport Beach). When I found out where my birthday was going to be held I was so excited. Who wouldn't want a party on a yacht? Simon did such an amazing job planning the party, from the food, flowers, guest list, and my favorite Sprinkles cupcakes. With all my friends and family there to help me celebrate I couldn't ask for a better celebration. Thank you, Simon!

I actually was not worried at all about turning 40. I think the editing made me look like It was the only worry I had in my life. No one wants to get old, but it is definitely better than the alternative! I try to live a healthy lifestyle, work out, and eat right, and the Botox helps. I know I'm not 20 anymore and I'm OK with that. I am happier than I have ever been in my life. I don't think life changes because you turn 40 -- from what I hear it gets better. I am actually looking forward to life in my 40s. I think you worry less about the small things. Besides, 40 is the new 30. Well, it sounds good.

Hmmm...are the 40th birthday breasts your new ones? It seems there was strange editing going on this season. I've never had any cosmetic surgery, I'm 50. I look great. Now and then, I wouldn't mind a lift. How painful was the experience?

Faith wrote:

The watch was great, but way over the top! The cost of that watch could have paid off a 1/4 of my mortgage here in the midwest and I live in a decent sized, brand new house! And to hear that you only wear it a few times, urghh!!! I would have that strapped to my wrist 24/7!! Actually, I'd have your "cheap" Rolex on 24/7!!! I'm a stay-at-home mom to 2 kids, going to college and going back to work full-time, and couldn't even think of buying something that even cost $500 for myself! Jealous, yes. But to have something nice like that, gawd, I'd faint!!

Tamra, you looked fierce at your birthday party, I can't believe you're in such good shape after having kids. I'm in my early 20s have no kids and I think your stomach is flatter than mine! Anyway, I wanted to give you a tip about your hair extensions. It looks like you have Great Lengths, but they aren't quite blended well. You should go to a girl named Chris at The Lab in Beverly Hills, she is the best at hair extensions, and she cuts and blends them flawlessly.

Honey wrote:

"Simon had full control" Did you just realize that? As an outsider looking in I see alot of things you may not see. Be very careful he's more in control than I think you realize. One more tip Dont forsake your child for a man. You can always replace the man but you can never replace the child. Hint:When Simon said something about a girlfriend during your birthday party it was disrespectful and just maybe you should look into that.

Hi Tamra,
I hope you enjoyed your 40th birthday party on your husband's yacht. Not many women, or people, get to celebrate their special birthdays on a yacht, so I think you should show more appreciation than you do. You live the life that most women could only dream of, you're able to stay at home, work a job "only" if you want to, and enjoy the riches of your husband's wealth from hard work. In numerous instances, both parents "have" to work to provide for their family, so your unappreciation, excessive materialism, and lack of compassion is a travesty. Finally, to be upset that God has blessed you with 40 years, is so sad. I should remind you that the most beautiful woman in the world, Halle Barry, is 40, but what is most beautiful about her, is her heart, her genuine kindness, and her humble nature, which is nothing I've seen in you.

Keep on keepin on and just have fun! Cheers!!!

Instead of Botox you need to look into MesoDerm. With all the injections your are getting it is going to make your face feel dead in 6 years then it will look really bad. Mesoderm delivers the product into your skin and you have no redness or scaring. My wife loves this new technology! Have fun! What's not to love about a needle-less delivery system. I know people also us it for pain remediation, cellulite, and acne!

I'm only a couple of years younger than you and also a mom. I think one thing that I would say to you is just be yourself and don't worry about little things like wrinkles. (You don't seem to have any anyway.) Besides, you're injecting yourself with poison. Read about Botox before you get another injection. A doctor isn't going to tell you this since he wants your business. I think as a mom we have to be careful and take care of our bodies inside and out so that we can be around for our kids. Please just consider this for next time.

Tamra. Please lay off the Botox. It looks like it's almost painful for you to smile. You'd probably look better and younger without so much make up, fake tan and plastic appearance. So what if you are 40? By trying to make yourself look better and younger, you are actually doing the opposite. It seems that you are jealous of Quinn - true? If so, is it because she looks natural and looks like she's 35? You seem like you'd be fun to go have drinks with but also that you need to be the center of attention. You made a comment in a recent episode that your new boobs were so that you wouldn't look like a "hoochie mama." Ummm.....what about the clothes, hair and makeup? And I don't see a difference in the boob size. It's weird to see all these people posting how great you look. You should definitely tone it down.

This message is for Stephanie,
I don't know what show you are watching but the Tamra that I see on tv is very appreciative. She is not near as materialistic as you say. Do you realize that the show is "edited" and that they pick and choose what gets aired. It really sounds like you are bitter because you don't live the lifestyle that she does and that you have to work. Yes she is very fortunate that she can afford to stay at home. Her job allows her to make her own hours. Go get your real estate license and then you can make your own hours. Yes God has blessed her with 40 years, 4 great kids and a great husband as well. You don't know what she has gone through in her life, so just be happy for her that she can relax and enjoy the life that GOD has blessed her with.

Tami wrote:

This message if for Stephanie
I don't know what show you are watching, but apparently we aren't seeing the same Tamra. She is very appreciative of the life she lives and to her husband who by the way loves her very much. Yes there are alot of people who only dream about living the life she has and having special birthday parties on a yacht. It sounds like you are bitter because you have to work a 9-5 job and her job allows her to make her own hours. All you have to do is get your real estate license and you too can make your own hours. You can not pinpoint her as being materialistic. She doesn't brag about owning 4 houses, or nine cars etc... Do you have any idea what she has gone through in her life? She is in the prime of her life now and she is living it the way it should be lived. God has definitely blessed her with 40 years, 4 great kids and a great husband as well. So go with your life and if you want to make it better, then you know what to do..Good Luck.

After doing all of that, it's fun to have a drink or 2 (or too much) every once-in-awhile.

I'm in my mid 40's, don't even come close to being as beautiful as you ladies, but I laugh my butt off watching my husband drool over this shot of you! You have a wonderful husband who truly loves you, a spoiled young adult, and two beautiful smaller children. Lady you have it all. Enjoy your 40's, absorb all that life offers you, and stay that silly young goofy 20 year old...I did. I love being sllly. I wasn't able to have children, but I get silly with my neices and nephews each time we're together. I love to watch them laugh and enjoy the time we spend together. It's an awesome feeling. I'm not as young, or nearly as pretty as I use to be, but my husband loves me for me, and my friends and family enjoy spending time with me. That is what life is about. Love, family and friends, I think we both have it all. Stay silly because I love it! You make me laugh!

Tamra,
Thank you for sharing your B reduction experience on the show. So many of us fell into the same trap in OC...getting implants that were too large for our bodies and now wanting to make a change. I admire your spunk and empathize with the struggles with your son. I am a year younger than you, have a son a year younger than yours, and am dealing with many of the same issues as you.

I have to remind myself all the time, that my 'precious baby' (lol) is an adult and needs to enter into manhood. That required permission from himself to move on from things as a child and wierdly enough, permission from me (in the form of gentle coaxing, acceptance, and love). I'll explain. The most difficult part (as you probably know) is separating ourselves emotionally from them and letting go so they can be men while at the same time not withdrawing our deep love for them. I make certain to tell my son how much I love him and that we will never lose that special bond that was formed in a special circumstances, ie., teen single mother, absent father, and the extraordinary emotional attachment and protectiveness that developed between us.

One thing I saw on the show that blared out at me like a neon sign was how much Ryan loves you and how conflicted you are about how to treat him (this was my relationship with my son last year). I felt pressure from my husband to get tough with my son. I felt conflicted myself about how to go about this and like you I thought toughness included making disparaging comments about my son's choices and sarcasticaly saying that I would disown him, etc., This just made the situation worse. I was doing this and it was so devastating to my son and I recognize the same pain in your son's face.

Lately, I have been encouraging a healthy emotional, financial, and physical separation from my son while at the same time reminding him that I will NEVER remove him or demote him from his special position in my life and in my heart. Husbands need to understand that the experience we had as teen single mothers of our sons had such a profound effect on who we are as adults. We in effect 'grew up' with our babies and the detachment process needs to be handled with great love and care. This doesn't mean that we should enable them out or do things out of guilt, no way. It took me a while to understand this. From watching the show, I think your son is begging for you to tell him that he will never be demoted in your heart NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES. And, that you appreciate the burdens he carries for example, maybe he feels that he needed to be man of the house at a young age and then he was replaced, etc, and was never able to process his confusion and conflicts about it correctly?

It has taken several heartfelt loving discussions alone with my son to find out what is holding him back from flying the nest. I also think that your husband loves you so much as well. He is much like mine, ultra responsible and in charge. But, our hubbies need to be sensitive to the delicate nature of the situation, be supportive, and not try to 'fix' everyone. I believe acceptance and love are the keys, and just say no (with a smile, a hug, and a kiss) to enabling, and never threaten or take away that special position he holds in your heart and in your life.
~Take care :)

Evidently the boob job went well Mine need removing just because they are getting old but will definantley have another set put in although smaller. You look fabulous at 40! No worries! I just turned 40 and don't look it or feel it- I was blessed with good Irish genes!! I wasn't too sure how I felt about you at first but your attitude, zest and zeal is growing on me...and more than anything, THAT is what keeps us young! I thought at first you might be a bit shallow, but having lived in socal for several years myself, you kind of get sucked into that lifestyle..it's true....but I really do believe you understand what is most important in life and that would be family, friends and loved ones and it is evident to me that this is a priority for you. Simon is interesting..he seems very emotionally reserved at times but I think below the surface he is a very loving, emotional and sensitive man who deeply loves his wife and family. I like him, he has a sweetness to him. I hope Ryan gets his life, priorities in order..it's a tough age, the bridge between adolescence and adulthood and I feel for him. Some kids get it right away, and for others, it takes more time. He'll eventually "get it" as soon as he realizes that life is a challenge, nothing comes for free and you and Simon won't always be willing to help him out. I think that once he gains some independence he will really relish it, respect himself and not want help from mom and Simon. One would hope. At some point you have to just say enough is enough, time to grow up and be your own man. Being a mom myself, I think besides the toddler years, teenage years, that part is so hard...getting them out of the house and out into the world. You need to get tough with Ryan. So there's my two cents, for what it worth!!
I wish you all the best, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the show!

Even our style is the same, only mine is more of a Dallas style. I am very happy for you and Simon and it seems that ya'll got it goin' on...but your SON!! OMG...what a freakin' spoiled brat. Girl...take my advice, you need to get him out of your house before it destroys your marriage!

I know that he is your son and you love him with all of your heart, but he is old enough to make it on his own, everyone else does. It appears to me that he is trying to cause issues in your home and more over your marriage to Simon. If he were younger, I would not have even written this entry, but he is not younger...I guess what I am saying is...what type of "man" doesn't have a job, no cash flow...no money and he spends money on a tattoo (garish) and $400 jeans...I call BS on that!

He is playing you...you need to get him out before he costs you more than you are willing to lose...just saying, ya know??

Not "preaching" but I know what I see...

"Got your back" in Big "D"

Helllo I can almost pay off my 100 year old 3000 sq foot home with that.
I actually started to cry when he gave that watch to you because , our family is just struggiling now, I know you appreciated that watch but my goodness you already had one not to mention all the BLING BLING you already had on.
Im happy for you just very invious , all I want to do is make my 4 kids happy and keep them involved with travel sports . Your husband seemed just concerned with what George thought of the watch and not how you felt about it. I wouldnt say you guys were Phony people , its just a BLING competition and with all the money you have I guess I dont blame you. IMe and my husband like watching the show, this is just the first time it really hit me like that.

Hi Tamra,

I think that your husband is the nicest, most sincere honest man I have ever seen on TV....you have no idea how lucky you are and wish you both nothing but the best! There are times when I watch him on the show I sense a bit of sadness but other than that he is a real Gem!!! I was wondering if he had a brother who is just like him because if he does, I'd like to meet him!

TaTa,
As I endearly refer to you.... I feel compelled to write due to the reason that you and I are the same age, and I, too, have a 19 year old son. He is a full time college student, studing premed, however, my "new" husband has forbid him from moving back into our home after spring semester. I mean, I do not have the words in my heart or the emotion to tell him. I am in a major dilemma....What would you do. Oh, and by and by, he has never really been too motivated to do "labor" as, we too, have a bio dad with mega bucks who finances his lifestyle, however, he feels at home with me. Please write back, you have my email. Could really use some been there advice. Much love to you.
You look fab, and I think megaderm is a better option, we have similar complexions and I think it is a more refined, less "scared straight" effect. Love and best wishes, Janie

Don't think you need botox because you are gorgeous for 40!! It is nice to see how much you love and care for your husband and kids, and that your family is so important to you! I love watching and I hope you have more new episodes to come!

I will have to say I applaude you. Being a new mom is probably the hardest job especially raising a family and trying to find time for a social life. But you look great for 40. You are very beautiful and I was shocked when you revealed your real age. I am right now learning to be a house wife and it's one of the hardest jobs but rewarding moments. Thank you for inspiring those many women whose jobs are not appreciated as being a care taker.

I am a 25-year-old housewife from New York with one beautiful little girl and a great husband. My husband is not as sucessfull as yours and i can admit, im jealous of all you have. However, I also think that you are someone i would be able to hang out with. You dont let all the money get to your head and you are so dedicated towards your family. It makes me smile when i see you out drinking with the girls because it really reminds me of myself. I guess what im trying to say is, never let that "down to earth" attitude slip away. You've got spunk and you look like you know how to have a good time, without being judgemental towards other people who may not have as much as you....cant wait for next season!! p.s. Looking at you, I cant wait to be 40!!

Tamra,
I'm sorry but you get on my nerves almost as much as Vicki. I admit you have a great body, but your personality is horrible. Furthermore, if you want to make it in the business world, skip coctails at lunch with clients. Your comments regarding your body were both hysterical and outrageous. You basically admit that's the only thing that helps sell houses. What will you do a few years from now. Believe me, you are far from the prettiest housewive in O.C. You are second to last only to Vicki.

You hit the nail on the head when you said you need to grow up! News flash... you are not the center of the universe and the sooner you realize that the better off your family will be. It's no wonder your oldest son is obnoixous and uses everyone for all he can... that apple certainly didn't fall far from the tree.

Karen wrote:

You make me sick. When was the last time you did something for someone else that didn't include a plunging neckline and alcohol?
Great role model for your children. You sponge off your husband, and your grown son sponges off you.....sweet! You should check yourself, you are not that cute. Does your fake hair, fake boobs and fake life mean anything at all? Why are you even on that show - the other girls have way more class than you.

Tamra,
I'm sure you're a nice enough person, but the editing of this show makes you appear VAIN and NARCISSISTIC. (I know you aren't college educated so you might want to use a dictionary.)

Toodles.

Tamara,

I have watched this show since it started and have always loved it.. You were a great addition to the show, the only thing is..........Your attitude how how HOT you are ... sucks!!!!! Everyone of those women on that show are just as pretty as you are. You need to stop and really think about how you talk about yourself on the show.. I just laugh and so do all my friends about how hot you think you are. Cool it on your looks and how fabulous you look. People can see that they don't need you reminding them every time you watch the show. Other than that you have a great personality and are a pretty old lady...LOL, i just turned 40 as well so I am just kidding.. I actually love 40, I have a 21 year old like you and a 18 year old and my husband and I are so glad we had them young we have been married almost 22 years now and its our time now to enjoy life more without the work you have when the kids are young. Our two kids are our best friends and we have so much fun with them even more so than when they were younger. I have been a stay at home mom but became a realtor like you about 10 years ago. I tried to do it part time and it turned into full time so I put my license in escrow so I could devote my time to my family but I still do referrals.. if I have anyone coming your way I will refer them to you....
Enjoy your 40's I know I am.. Life is wonderful.

You are such a fake person. I call it like I see it and you think you are so much better than everyone else. NOT!! You are fake from head to toe and must really be good in the sack. I am betting if Bravo keeps you its only to mock you again. Run circles around Jeanna, Please do you even know what a circle is? You were so unprofessional with your clients and you act more like a 14 year old than a 40 year old. You made way too big of a deal, you were only FISHING for compliments. How appropriate your party was on a boat. Stupid is as stupid does and I can't wait to see your NEW ATTITUDE next season, IF>>> the keep you on. Show some class please. Tamela and yes that is my real name.

You are so hysterical. Way to hook up with a winner. Simon is the bomb. He has more of a clue with your son than you do. It's funny, but sad. You are more worried about your boobs and your watch than the fact that your son is a non-productive member of society. Way to go! You make the rest of us look so good! Without the fake boobs and all!

Tamera, you are such fun. I really enjoy watching your segments and also like your husband, Simon, very much. I think Simon is very wise and a good guy. You are really a welcome addition to the show. I have watched the show from the very first episode and think you do a lot for the program. The only thing that makes me mad is how short the season is for the show. It seems like there are only six or seven shows each year. I sure wish the network would air about 12 shows at a minimum! I love the show!!

What a wonderful birthday party he planned for you along with the beautiful watch he gave you! We're soooo disappointed that the season is over with. Looked forward to HWOC every Tuesday night. Hope you'll be back next season!

You looked great at your party. You have a wonderful figure and I was so impressed that you went to smaller implants. You've got a great handle on your body and how you look to others. I wish that I had that ability.
The only piece of advice that I would give would be to stop tanning. The damage that you're doing to your skin will ruin all the work you put into looking young and youthful. 40 is not old but you'll start to look much older very quickly if you don't eliminate tanning. Have you considered spray tanning?

Hi, there! I have to say you do look fablous, how do you stay so young and so beautiful? You were awesome on the show, you and your husband! I would really like to know some of your beauty tips and what kind of skin care you use. I'm really hoping for season 2 and i enjoyed seeing you on the show!

You are my favorite housewife, so much like me! So fun, hysterical, gorgeous, hot body, forget all the haters that are out there trying to make you insecure, just know it for what it is, you work hard on keeping yourself up as we all do (at least you admit it, that's being real) it is hard work to keep your body and face youthful as you get older. You look gorgeous, don't change a thing! You are my favorite!
