OK -- everybody calm down. We just want everyone to catch their breath before we dive into the upcoming Fashion Week, which begins on Friday. But we have to tell you that even before the first model hits the runway, there are already so many events and shows and pre-shows and post-shows and after parties and pre-parties and subcutaneous parties that OH-MY-GOD it’s PRE-FASHION WEEK OVERLOAD. Here's a sample from Fashionweekdaily.com:
Today, Sept. 5th, 5:00PM: Mac Millan spring/summer 2007 collection, Great Jones Spa, 29 Great Jones St., NYC, Followed by a soiree from 9:30pm at The Kimberly Hotel's Penthouse Suite, 145 E. 50th St., NYC
Wednesday 5:00PM-6:00PM: Secrets of Charm Spring/Summer 2007 Collection, Soho House, 29-35 9th Ave., Champagne and strawberries immediately following the show in the White Room from 6-7pm
Thursday: FASHION ROCKS curated by Elton John, Radio City Music Hall, 1260 6th Ave., NYC, Conde Nast Media Group presents musical performances by Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Bon Jovi, The Black Eyed Peas, Daddy Yankee, Jamie Foxx, Nelly Furtado, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, The Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Scissor Sisters and Kanye West, KCD produced fashion shows
FRIDAY: 9:00 AM (that’s right 9 in the morning!) Fashion week REALLY begins with Hottie tamale, John Bartlett’s show in the Bryant Park tents! Is that enough for ya? It’s not? OK, go here for the full calendar.
There are at least 17 other events BEFORE Friday’s fun begins. But make sure you get some sleep and eat something! (Lettuce and a glass of water at least.) Oh, and for those poor fashion-forward saps that don’t live in or around NYC -- you know who you are! -- don’t worry there will be a fashion week coming to your area soon. Paris (of course)! New Delhi, India! Johannasburg, South Africa! Even Philadelphia!
