Christmas Horror

20061212_blackxmas_320x240.jpg

What do you think about a horror movie opening on Christmas day? What do you think if the horror movie is called "Black Xmas" and deals with slashing co-eds who are stuck at college on Christmas break? Boy that really gets ya in the Christmas spirit, doesn’t it!

Some websites are completely excoriating producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein and their distributor (MGM) for the decision to open it on December 25th. Okay, it’s pretty tasteless, but is it cause for so much uproar?

Frankly, with all the commercialization of Christmas, we think the holiday has become open game for any kind of movie or parody. Our problem is “Black Xmas” makes a huge mistake by being set in an empty college. Yawn. You want real Christmas horror? Try the mall.

I think the movie opening is o.k., since not everyone celebrates
Christmas day. The subject matter may be questionable, but many big movies opened on Christmas day, such as Titanic, and
the Godfather years ago,(which was a violent movie) Probably teenie boppers with nothing to do after eating Christmas dinner will go to the movies to see this horror movie. This is America after all where capitaliam reigns supreme !!

You want a horror movie that is what halloween is for. Is there nothing sacred any more. This is the season of joy, lets keep it that way.
