| Golden Globes? |

As far as last night’s Golden Globe Awards goes, our reactions were mixed. Sometimes we agreed. Sometimes we didn’t. We were moved. We were annoyed. What follows is our own off-the-cuff awards for the Best and Worst of this years Golden Globes. (PS: That's Borat looking sexy and suave, above.)
Most Puzzling Moment: Martin Scorsese Eyebrows
We couldn’t concentrate on his acceptance speech because we CAN’T STOP STUDYING HIS EYEBROWS. Does he dye them or is it possible to have pitch black eyebrows and snow white hair?
Best Cleavage: Helen Mirren
She got damned near every other award why not give her this one? But seriously, she looked great and so did her cleavage. As for whether The Queen should be winning this many accolades, we definitely are disagreement in this office. Some love her. Some think she was just doing a damned good impression. More importantly, some think Judi Dench (Notes on a Scandal) or Kate Winslet (Little Children) deserve the award far more.
Film We Were Happiest Won: Dreamgirls
What can we say? We loved it. We didn’t even think it was a “great” film -- but we still saw it twice. It’s rare to have an audience burst into applause in the middle of a movie, but both times, that Jennifer Hudson number got the audience worked into a fever pitch over, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”
Film We Were Unhappy to See Win: Babel
Staff consensus:The Departed and Little Children were a zillion times better than Babel.
Actor Most In Need of a Speech Writer: (TIE)
Forrest Whitaker (Last King of Scotland) – The guy was sweet but incoherent.
Warren Beatty (Lifetime Achievement Award) – We started to wonder whether his” lifetime achievement” wasn’t for that long-ass, ponderous speech that took a “lifetime” (ours) to pretty much say nothing. We still love Warren … but, man.
Best Award for Role that was Really Meant for Another Role: Emily Blunt (Gideon’s Daughter)
Face it, anyone in their right mind would be conflicted about ignoring Emily Blunt’s role of the frenetic-n-pathetic assistant in The Devil Wears Prada, but what can you do when Emily is up against Jennifer Hudson’s Effie? Answer: Give her an award in another category.
Funniest Moment: Sacha Cohen’s Speech
Hands-down funniest moment. It gave us the same belly-laugh as the naked wrestling scene in the movie. And when he was able to viscerally recreate for us that moment when he debated breathing in what lay in his naked co-star’s secret damp darkness: “If it were not for that rancid bubble I would not be here today.” Genius.

My nomination for funniest moment is when America Ferrera was leaving the stage after accepting the globe for comedy actress. Stunned, she stood by the color commentator for a good long while before she had a moment of clarity and left. You could see her mouth something like, "Wait, I don't know why I'm standing here," and then she quickly hurried off camera. And moments like those are why award shows are fantastic.
I'm sorry but Borat was not worthy of any acting nomination. Nor, did I think Babel was a best picture nomination. The Departed was bar far a better film.
Meryl Streeps speech was so good! I agree about Emily Blunt, she turned a minor role into a character we all rembered.
Will the Golden Globes be shown again. What day and time will it show again? Unfortunately, I fell asleep during the latter part of the show. Please respond with the time and day you will be showing it again.
Thanks for your consideration.
Renee
Ugly Betty's America Ferrera leaving the stage was the funniest. I too saw her mummble the words "what am I doing here." And the commentator didn't know how to tell her to leave. You could tell from her perplexed look she was thinking "what is she doing standing next to me?" So funny!!
ps renee - i believe the show airs on bravo again on Saturday evening. check tvguide.com or your local listings.
