And they're off! After months of anticipation, 12 contestants showed their skills on the premiere episode of "Shear Genius." There were some fantastic hair-dos and some incredible hair-don'ts.

Jean Paul should not have gone home!! That blond girl should have, she SUCKED!!!!! I can't beleive it, I don't even want to watch the show anymore. I mean I don't get how they kept her over him, his hair wasn't great this time but he has TALENT she has nodda!!!

I can't believe you sent home Jean paul. He was in the top three of the first competition and the blonde was in the last three. Then she was again in the last two and you let him go instead of her. He was one of the few who made that wig look good! If that's you idea of fair judging boo. I won't be watching this show anymore, so thanks for giving me my Thursday back to me. Too bad as I have been a Bravo reality TV fan since the first Project Runway.
I thought it was so funny when paul jean got sent home. The whole episode he talked himself up, but his hair art was SCARY!
Who does hair like that in the real world? I wouldn't put any of those styles even on the runway. As for the initial "signature" hair cuts...what is up with exaggerated asymetrical, hair hanging in the eyes crap? Someone should tell them signature looks don't need to be something only a manequin would wear.
Truly poor decision to send Paul Jean packing. He had talent and would have been far more impressive in coming episodes than Lacey will prove to be. Completely shortsighted. Disappointing to viewers looking forward to a season that has already been cut short. Seriously, bring Paul Jean back.
i love this show. it has the great fun that hasnt been shown since project runway. i am sad paul jean went home but his hair for the elmination was down right ugly. but that blonde chick should of gone. i could cut hair better than her. my fave though is tyson. i want him to cut my hair.

First of all.... his name is PAUL-JEAN and I think he is HILARIOUS! He has a dry wit that I very much appreciate. Hope he is enjoying the "slums of Rodeo Drive".
Dr. Boogie and Jim are toooo much! I was doubled over laughing the entire time. They are outrageously funny!
I applaud all the stylists for their willingness to go out on a limb and attempt to be the best that they can be. Being a sytlist and salon owner myself I believe that it takes guts and a true belief in what one creates to make another feel confident and beautiful in their everyday life. Thank you Bravo for allowing our craft to be seen, judged, and admired by your watchers. Tyson... you rock!!!
Yea.. totalllllly agree with "ashley" ... lacey or whatever was HORRRRRIBLE!!! i was so upset when they sent paul jean home... he was waht, in 3rd or 4th after the short cut and she was like 11th!! and they still kept HER over HIM?! ridiculous!!!!!
dr. boogie's hair design looked the best. the winning style reminded me of a cafeteria worker with the hair net thing going on.
Frenchy is fried - get over it. Bring on Union Jack. The rings of Saturn were brilliant. And bonus - he's a hottie!
How could you let Jean Paul go?????? He would of been the stand-out of the show. Oh boy, you really missed the boat with him. Aside from that major mis-step you decide to keep Tabatha over Jean Paul - are you kidding???
Evangeline has been my hair stylist for 10 years and she is AMAZING!!!! She did my hair for my first date with my husband and for our wedding. Not only is she talented but she's also the sweetest person you've ever met. Go Evangeline!!!!
I loved Jean Paul - he had a lot of potential and i hated to see him go....By the way do you know any exclusive stylist in the Detroit Area?
very disappointed to see jean paul go home. the young blonde stylist didn't impress me. he was talented and fun to watch.

this show is everything that is worng with our industry. Hair Stylists who have no education past beauty school. Hair styling is an art, but with any art you must have strong a foundation first. I was very disapointed with every shape i saw. It looked like beauty school students work.
I have been a hairdresser ffor 23 years and Dr. Boogie's hair art was the best and the most polished by far. That style could have easily gone down the runway or appeared in any fashion magazine.
hair art is exactly that art............it is not supposed to be worn out on a date, the challenge was not specific to any situation........art is subjective....
This new show for Bravo sucks.......real bad! This one is a real stinky flop and I will not waste another evening on it! So stupid! Some things just don't work in a reality show people...get a clue! Someone should have given me money to pitch some ideas, I could have done better on my worst day!
