iNterns = the new iPhones

July 27, 2007

We’ll be the first to admit: we didn’t invent the Intern Blog. Mentos, always at the forefront of media and advertising (anyone remember those Euro ads with the people getting crazy, only to offer up a mint and make everything all better? Ah… those were simpler times), has asked their intern to go online, and anyone can “hire” him for a block of time and make him do whatever they want. Within reason. We suspect he thought it was the greatest, funniest thing in the world… for about ten minutes. But how many summer romances can he be asked to end? How many lunches can he order? I’m sure he’ll be glad to get back to school, or start earning a little money for these random tasks.

We’re no strangers to internships around here, of course. Someone here in the Dish Headquarters had to get sandwiches for a crazy vegan one summer. One of us had to travel around the Midwest, going into random fast food chains, quizzing the cashiers on their knowledge of Coke. One of us had to count dead bees in their boss’ shed (true story. Can’t make something like that up). But those were the olden days, long before having your intern splayed on the internet was the new trend in offices across the country.

We’re proud of our interns. They’re smart, ambitious, and fantastic writers. They have great stories to tell, and we’re overjoyed to share them with you. And apparently, we’re not the only ones. E! Online has their interns blogging up a storm over there, but something’s different. To be exact: instead of writing about what they think of E!, or what their experiences as interns have been, they’re writing not-so-nice things about other networks. Other pop-culture obsessed networks. Networks not unlike the one sponsoring the words you’re reading right this very moment.

So… the gauntlet has been thrown. Prepare yourself, E! Online interns, because the Bravo interns mean business, and they won’t take lukewarm reviews of ‘Top Chef: Watch What Happens’ lying down! We’re ready to rumble, and we might even spring for uniforms.

You mess with us? Watch what'll happen.

We want your blog comments! We will read and approve them as soon as we can, but sometimes they can take a little while to show up online. Here are some guidelines:

  1. Keep it clean. You're a Bravo fan, you know better words than most TV audiences.
  2. Avoid using ALL CAPS! (It’s like screaming...)
  3. We don't post e-mail addresses or phone numbers.
  4. Have a good time. We love that you love the blogs.
