| Real Housewives of NY |

We're proud to announce the, er, announcement of The Real Housewives of New York City. The show will take an up-close and personal look at a lifestyle where private chefs, Au Pairs, front row seats at Fashion Week and Hamptons estates are part of everyday life. The show will follow five glamorous Manhattan women as they balance motherhood, demanding careers, and a fast-paced social calendar, and shows what life is like in the most exclusive areas of New York.
We adore the Real Housewives of Orange County, but since the Dish HQ is located in NYC, we're pretty psyched for the East Coast representation, and we're pretty sure some good raps have to come out of this ....
Keeping check back for more details!

Why haven't we seen any minority housewives? Two diffferent cities and still no minorities.
now this sounds FUN!!! i love the coto ladies, but this show is gonna be fantastic. NY wealth is a lot classier. i am sooooo excited!
I love watching the Real Housewives of Orange County so I'm pumped for this new show!! Can't wait to see it! When does it start?!
These ladies are all fabulous! We love them in the Hamptons and can't wait to watch the new show.
Looking forward to the NY ladies, at least they will be educated.
i am SO excited! All the mom's look really great and fun. I can't wait any longer to see it!
More ethnic and racial minority representation please! Presenting such a homogenized view of wealth and who it encompasses is a disservice to NY, plausibly the most diverse state per capita, in the world, as well as a disservice to the heterogenous viewers that tune in to Bravo for high caliber of reality TV escapist fare during the writers' strike. I have family in Manhattan whom respresent accomplished, successful, young, wealthy, African American contemporary lives a lot of viewers would enjoy seeing- regardless of race. Race is not a factor until it's completely ommitted as a variable. Please consider diversifying your future housewife panels.
This season of the housewives in NYC is going to be hilarious. My ex-boss is Ramona on the show and experianced the taping. Should be fun to watch and I know that there will be plenty of drama to see!!
THIS IS GONNA BE OFF THE HOOK!! I CANT WAIT!! RAMONA IS THE BEST MOM IF NYC DUH!!!!
I love the Bravo series! My boyfriend and I look forward to it every week! For those of who desire a more diverse cast, please keep in mind that all of these ladies have tried out for the show. If you feel you or a person you know would be a good addition, look for casting calls and try out. Reality shows are as good as the people who try out for them.
As Jasmine wrote, these women tried out for the cast. Did any women of color try out? Not to speculate, but maybe the wealthy black, Asian and Latino women in NYC didn't want to be in the show. I know of a few black socialites who would not want to be televised.
Remember, it's only entertainment, not a model of aspiration.
Loved the sneak preview show!! Can't wait for March 4th!!
I usually do not watch reality shows but NYC drew my attention. I watched the Preview and I love this show already! I find it more interesting to watch a show that takes place in locations that I recognize and know (e.g. NYC & the Hamptons). Looking forward to March 4th and seeing more of Jill particularly (the one with "class.")
I just watched the preview of New York City. Interesting women. SOOO much snobbier and elitist than the OC ladies. One thing that seriously turned me off was the annoying New York accents. Those women just sounded so . . provencial. Only the countess and the girl from Kansas sound didn't have the bad accents. Maybe it will wear on me.
First, anyone who calls herself a "socialite" is definitely not one. Secondly, $2 mill won't get you much of a Brooklyn townhouse -- the going rate is at least $5 or $6 million. Did you see the $2 mill house neighborhood? It was a dump. (Also, the husband seems gay.) I know, extremely snarky ... but true. Dl in Brooklyn Heights.
i love real housewives of orange county. thye would be someone i would like to hang out. just watched the real housewives of new york preview. these women arent "real". i hope they become more aproachable cause right now i see them as a bunch of snobby women. not something i would want to watch. you would think the ones from the "oc" would be unrelatable , but they are not. i cant believe this is representation of women in new york. thought i would like to visit there, but now i dont want too.
I was really looking forward to this show. I have lived on Long Island most of my life and spent many a day in New York City. In my opinon these ladies were very hard to watch. Did you test this show out in any markets, or just go off the success of the ladies from Orange County? I think you scraped the bottom of the barrel with these gals. The only lady in this show that seems to have class is the "Contessa". You will not get a BRAVO from me for this show. I am so disappointed.
Donna
I love the OC ladies and hope that the NY ones will be just as fun to watch. The sneak peak of them didn't really do it for me,
they seemed really snobby and fake?
The new season of housewives in New York I do not like the blond that makes the comment about the suburbs. Live here before you judge. Your rude
These Housewives aren't as fun as the O.C. Housewives. The NYC bunch seem so stiff and angry on the inside, and are really hard to watch.
Boring!! Loosen up! I have more fun in Missouri than you all do in NYC!
1. Love OC HW - they are funny
2. East Coast People do not flaunt their wealth. I would LOVE to hear what their friend outside of the show think of them
3. Finally - wasn't Betheny Frankel on the MARTHA STEWART Apprentence show ---PLEASE
PS Life in the Burbs are great!!!!!
Ladies you have all this money you would think a few of you could remember to get your hair done! Bad ends and limp hair. Get yourself into see your hair dresser right away. You can afford it.
OK, last night's show was good. I am still having a hard time warming up to the girls, though. They don't even compare to the OC ladies who have so much more class. I'm just have to quit comparing the two shows. I was shocked at Ramona's behavior. I think she needs to attend some finishing school classes with her daughter, Avery, to learn how to act like a lady. It's pretty bad when a 12 year old acts better than her mother. Ramona looks so desperate to be young that it's embarrassing.
I didn't like Alex at first (the one who hates the suburbs)but now I find her and her husband rather endearing. Mainly because they are so peculiar. If they would quit striving to look good at Met functions and quit trying to break into high society, they would actually make a really cool couple.
I live on Central Park West and own a home in the Hamptons and am strangely fascinated by this group of wannabes. Did anyone tell the one living in Brooklyn that that is the suburbs? It's laughable that these women think of themselves as hot.I think not, my friends. As someone living the true life of a NYC housewife who raised 3 kids in private school, hedge-fund husband, etc. it is interesting to watch women on the fringe pretend that they are "all that". With the exception of the countess, the other women are trying so hard to portray what they think is the quintessential NYC housewife. I wouldn't be friends with any of these women because quite frankly, they all seem like their from Long Island.
Being a native NYer (Manhattanite) but one living "downtown" I guess my perspective on NY is quite different. For me, the NYer with wealth are those that possess a confidence that a lot of these women don't. They try too hard. And I wouldn't consider Brooklyn a suburb. As more "transplants" move to NYC and change my city and label themselves NYers, I can understand the desire to flee to a place where true native NYers live without the pretentiousness visible on the show. Keep in mind - a true NYer is openminded, tolerant and overall very cool and cosmopolitan. Comments like "lesbos" said by the blond kid would be a huge problem is any educated circle of NYers. These women, many of whom are trying too hard to possess the confidence that is true to being a born and bred real NYer. So, take the show with a grain of salt. None of the women represent any true blue NYers I know. It's a show people. Take it as the lives of some women, but being "Real Housewives" is a HUGE overstatement.
Also one last thing.....WHO IN THE WORLD refers to their husband "The count". GIVE ME A BREAK, my aunt was engaged to a Count in France and he was referred to by only one name....Pierre. HIS NAME!
I am sorry but this show is almost like a fraud, a totally wrong depiction, this is more like a show for socialite wannabes, where there are plenty in NYC. These play THAT part very well.
A real apt. that belongs to a socialite is at least 7 million on Park or Fifth, the building would never allow such a show or exposure and the kinds of people a real socialite socializes with would NEVER be caught dead doing this. I say becuase I know.
I live in NY (Upper East Side) but grew up in OC. The comment about not wanting to live in the suburbs- what? That is exactly where these women escape to when they want to relax-The Hamptons! Both places are wonderfully different- NY is chic, great schools, busy and has a lot of flavor. OC has perfect weather year round with a very relaxed feeling, green grass and flowers year round. But to say you hate the 'burbs and then hang out in the Hamptons is an oxymoron!
Loved the Housewives of Orange County. They were fun and unpredictable. These womwn are not fun..seem more worried about their social standing than enjoying life. Too easily offended and self centered. They wouldn't like me either so we're even.
I really enjoyed watching the real housewives of OC but these ladies from NYC are really full of themselves. All they do is BRAG about what they have and how much money they spend and just care about the NYC upscale society. The OC housewives were more REAL and down to earth.
I absolutely love the OC women. The show is fantastic and I could watch it everyday. I watched the first episode of New York, and was thoroughly disappointed in the caliber of women they put on the show. None of them have houses that could even compare to the houses in OC, not to mention their attitudes rott. I like the Countess. She is a beautiful women, but the rest are dreadful. The 34 year old, i just read is the youngest, with the blonde hair, is HOMELY. I thought she was at least 45, and just found out she is a few years older than me. I hate to say it, but I am utterly disappointed with the show. These women bragg non-stop and thier lives really dont seem very interesting, no do they have anything to bragg about. And has anyone noticed how aged they look, compared to the women of OC? Maybe its all the fumes and pollution in the air there. Nothing about the show is tempting. My respects to the Countess, but the rest got to go. Needless to say, I wont be watching the show, Ill stick to the OC crew. They have much more class.
ps.
Jill's Mother Rocks!!
Jill, I love your philosophy on Boobs! I totally agree, even though I wish I had boobs.
Another idea for a show would be the wives of Doctors in Brainerd Minnesota!!.....
I too am a huge fan of the OC housewives. I think they are personable and very fun to watch. But what is up with these NYC women. With the exception of the countess they all have pretty terrible personalities. It just goes to show you that no matter how much money you have, or think you have you CANNOT buy class!!
This is a real miss for BRAVO. I don't watch a lot of reality TV, and I have to admit the OC ladies just drew me in inspite of myself. The one good thing to come out of this New York version is to highlight how great the OC show is. I am not a New Yorker, but I know that New York society must have better to offer. These ladies run the gamut of unlikeable behaviors. When one said she would never live in the suburbs, I just thought, who cares what you think? It was simply a turn off. When she and her husband paraded their wealth in front of us on a shopping spree, then their "culture" with their half naked bilingual vacation, I kept thinking, who cares. Then I turned it off. I would have expected NYC to offer some more interesting people with more mature, better developed egos.
I love Jill~ You are so real. Don't let the blond get the best of you- ever. you're so much bigger than that. I like the Countess, hang with her- she's the real deal. Remember, water seeks its own level. p.s. It wouldn't have mattered what row you were sitting in- your smile and authentic presence sticks out like a soar thumb next to mediocrity. Will watch again next week :)
Last week the bit when Jill's mother showed up for shopping and advice was hilarious!!! Give that woman her own show already.
Jill is gorgeous. I think she is really beautiful.... and just happens to be (what seems so far) a great person as well. great person to be friends with. Seems like a great soul.... I wish her & her family the best.
As an fyi-- i am a 30 year old, italian catholic new yorker... I love luane too--- but Jill seems like a special soul. good people.
Love this show more than OC version; the women lead more interesting lives and live in the greatest city in the U.S. (I'm from Los Angeles). Jill was off-putting to me at first, but I think she is a very kind, sweet, generous woman. The Countess (I can't call her Lu Ann) is the greatest - simply beautiful, no need to be anything but natural. And I adore her housekeeper, hope she realizes what a wonderful gal she has working for her. Ramona: awful and not as pretty as she thinks she is. Alex: pitiful with her pretention and her creepy husband. Bethenny: I'd seen her in the Martha Stewart version of the Apprentice and she was pretty annoying. I hope she figures out how to get over her parental issues and enjoy life.
Looking forward to the rest of the season.
And I'd also watch Real Housewives of Brainerd, by the way!
I find the NY show fascinating. They are all such great characters. I can't vouch for their authenticity as socialites - I think it's unlikely though that Eliza Bolen or Aerin Lauder would participate in a project like this - but this group of women is open, thoughtful and hilarious. THey want want I want but I don't have the money or energy to pursue it! The Countess is lovely and stylish. All I want for Betheny is happiness and love. She works so hard and deserves to be rewarded. I'm dying to see Alex M. in my neighborhood. Rock on women!
Thanks, Bravo. Your shows are so much fun!
Loved the OC show...Love this one more! Countess is a big fave - love Jill as well. I think watching Bethenny crash (and she will) will be the equivalent of watching an accident...you want to look away, but just cannot. Ramona wears me out and Alex is just a wet mess! Thanks for bringing a guilty pleasure into my mundane existence!!
I love the OC gals, but it's fun to watch the concept of the show take place in NYC. Thus far, it is pretty entertaining. I cannot stand Ramona though....she seems to continually put her foot in her mouth and seems a little insensitive to others. She also seems to be a bit full of herself. Jill and LuAnn seem the nicest. Alex seems cool, but a little pretentious. Last but not least, Bethany seems like such a hard and focused worker! Can't wait to see how the season turns out!
I used to think the OC moms were shallow but the NYC ones make the OC look like a Mensa meeting. It leaves me hating the show because it's shattering all my illusions about how intellectually stimulating it would be to live in NYC. Now I know that the majority of New Yorkers aren't anything like these insecure, social climbing wannabes-but-neverwillbes, but the thought that I would have to sit next to one of them at the opera, restaurant, fashion week or anywhere else just turns my stomach
After last night, I have had a bit of a change of heart. I was shocked that the Countess would allow the likes of someone named "Cyclone" into her home, never mind allow him to have direct contact with her son. I thought it was pretty cool of her to let her son be exposed to someone so totally different from her family. It made her appear a bit less snobbish.I had thought Ramona was a total "ditz", but I respect her for encouraging her daughter to be sure she can support herslf and not depend on a man. It was apparent that her daughter thought so too, the way she looked at her mother when she was talking to her. Poor Bethenny! She needs to chill the F out. She is just too much! No wonder she scared he boyfriend away. She tires to micro-manage everyone around her, though basically she is likeable.
Jill is amazing! Bethenney is great too but Alex and Ramona are ridiculous. The way alex and her husband talk about using others for their personal gain is tiresome. Ramona should act her age and the way she behaved with LuAnn at the fashion show/store was worse than a ten year old
I have lived in LA and now I live here in NY. This show is so shocking to me because this is not the nearly my social exp. of NYers and Bravo, you are portraying "us" in "very" bad light. I am totally insulted.
NYers, are well educated, cool, have class and care about the world. Not, money hungry, social climbing hunters...you can have money (most of do), but true NYers know that it doesn't buy you class.
Bravo you are doing a disservice to all NYers and women behave yourself and make us NYers proud.
Oh my,luv the new show but I really miss the orange county girls!!!! LuAnn is my fave she's beautiful and so classy but still seems down to earth. I think Alex and Simon are great, it's nice to see a family be so happy and actually enjoy each other. Bethany is smart taking time for her own career. Jill ia hilarous, smart and a great mother. And last but not least Ramona needs the boot! I mute the tv when she's on. Quit living your life through your child, I feel for your husband. You are soooooo annoying and Simon should have put you in your place.
I love both show, they each have there own style and way of living. I have really enjoyed Jill, Lue Ann, and Bethenney. I am not sure what is going on with Ramona, she needs to relax. I would love to see another session of these great women!!
Missing the OC ladies so much...thought the NY ladies would grow on me but still waiting for that to happen! My thoughts:
Jill - probably my favorite. Seems like she’s just being herself, pretty down to earth.
Bethenny - I don’t mind.
LuAnn - I wish I could like her but I just can’t get over how high she is on herself! Come on, ‘I will be introduced as Mrs...’ whatever the h*ll her last name is! And the fact that she refers to her husband as ‘The Count’ just makes me cringe.
Ramona - I like her she is just a little to neurotic for me though!
Alex & Simon - All I can say is PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get them off the show!!! PLEASE! I watch the show on DVR so that I can fast forward through their scenes!!!
Somehow, it's fun to watch this show to see what people are willing to do to fit in to their concept of a "happy" lifestyle. These ladies are probably all very nice people, but the truly wealthy ones WITH CLASS do not have to flaunt their wealth. The funny thing is, this doesn't only happen in NYC, it is all over the world where the Alexs try SO hard to impress and pretend to be more than they really are (it's too hard to try to be somewhere you don't belong Alex--you're like a little kid trying to get brownie points from the teacher--LuAnn), the Ramonas who act like spoiled brats without absolutely NO etiquette, the stressful Bethenneys who just worry over every little thing and cannot let go of that person who does not want to get married--you deserve better, the Jills who gets bothered by the most trivial things such as who has not invited whom (at least you seem genuine), and finally, the LuAnns who think they are on pedestals and above every one because they SEEMINGLY were luckier to have married someone with a so-called title. I feel so blessed with my life right now.
As far as "reality TV" goes, this program is more authentic than some others in the genre. The scenes between Jill and her mother were quite poignant and telling. Jill, to my eye, comes off as the most sincere. The producers manage to selvect some illuminating segments from what must be a ton of raw footage. Bravo doesn't really demean these women, but a few of them demean themselves through social cannibalism and the most transparent pretentiousness. It's punishing to watch, but overall quite interesting.
Not a makeup artist but Ramona enough of the shiny oily lip gloss and Alex do your hair or have Simon do it he may as well since he dresses you
I love these girls, they are the same as my
circle of friends, catty, loving, and gossips
with style. Bethenny is my fav. She rocks with style and with complications. Life is very complicated at times and shes ready to face life head-on. You rock girl. Jill I love
you too. Your personality is great. Knowing
your personal self is key today. You rock too.
I am out of space...... Girls, your the best
entertainment on right now.....
A socialite with no central air in their tiny little $2MM home? Why don't some of them spend some money on some speech lessons to get rid of those annoying accents? The OC girls have more class for sure...and a much better way of life. Hands down.
I love the show. They are wonderful depictions of how life can be in the city. The coasts are different from each other. The OC ladies had so much work done and it shows. Can't we have a contest so the winner gets to spend a week with one of these ladies. Except maybe Alex and Simon. Too creapy, horrible home. I lived in Brooklyn. We took so much pride in renovating those historical homes. Alex, wait until the Countess gets a load of your home. Talk about slumming
I just finished watching the season finale. I loved the season on a whole but wow, can Alex and Simon be anymore annoying and pretentious!? They didn't belong on this show!! Their mannerisms and obsession with one another is creepy!! Their house is a slum and their "genious" child is a bratty handful. I loved how at the end, it said Francois(they say it like they have a mouth full of marbles) will be going to public school for kindergarten. I loved Jill and Bobby. They are awesome people, and Jill is a great Mom. Luann came across very classy, very down to earth and hip. Although I love Bethanny and her fire, I can see her meltdown in the works. And I am sorry but I just don't see what she sees in Jason. He's very blah. Ramona, eh, she's a hot mess. She needs to come down to Earth and remember that she doesn't exist alone in this world. She thinks too highly of herself and doesn't take others into consideration. Her own husband seems to agree. I would watch a second season but they really need to do it without Alex and Simon.
I think the only woman on the show I can in any way like or understand is Jill. That being said, I was surprised by how she acted at the fashion show.
Alex & her husband are embarrassing in how hard they try to fit in. I don't know what to make of the fact that they are glued together. My husband and I go everywhere together, but seriously, if it was a "girls night out" I can't imagine bringing him & I can't imagine him wanting to go.
I feel sorry for Bethenny because she seems almost a caricature of a single woman who is desperately wanting a kid & marriage but who chases after guys who aren't going to give that to them. I can't imagine being that old in life & yet hoping & poking around to get a real, honest answer out of that guy about real commitment.
Luann seems the most comfortable with her wealth, but I feel sorry for her kids who seem raised by the nanny. How sad, there are so many men & women who wish they made more money so that they could spend more time with their kids. I'm sure she is bored since her husband is gone so often so she fills her time with events. And I can't imagine she really calls him "the Count" in private. I mean please, he's her husband for crying out loud.
As for Ramona, I don't even know where to begin. She doesn't even fit the definition of spoiled or unladylike. She is crass & mean. How she is continually invited to get-togethers with the other women is beyond me. I also don't like how she pushes her daughter into acting (even though her daughter loves school!)...are you kidding me? I also don't like how she treats her husband, who BTW seems like a good father. Or is she trying for some self-fulfilling prophecy of getting him to leave her so she can then prove she can make it on her own financially?
And I don't want to hear anymore from Ramona & Bethanny about how horrible the men in their lives were or whatever. Who DID have a perfect childhood? Get over it, get over yourselves & look at what is really important in life.
I saw the finale..wow. Alex and Simon need to get a clue that they are raising (or rearing) two little animals. They have no boundaries. Simon and Alex are two "I want to be rich "wannabees. I wouldn't invite them to anything..especially if the kids were coming. They need to moved some place they can afford and fix it up and then start social climbing. Ramona makes me crazy she thinks she is the center of the universe. Bethany needs a chill pill. I expect she will never see Jason because he works all the time. Good luck getting pregnant some day! Jill is solid. I love her and LuAnn.
I just finished watching an episode of nyc housewives and was appaled at the behavior of ramona while at the dinner party that was hosted by jill for the ladies.WHILE i THOUGHT it was in poor taste for simon to attend it wasn't ramonas place to say anything. in all i found a new respect for alex and simon as he acted as a gentleman and she a lady.
OMG... Alex and her husband are embarrassing!! They are trying WAY to hard to be rich. They are ridiculous. I think that most people probably agree with me. They are trying WAY TOO hard!!!
I watched both seasons and found good and bad in each. first of all what is the definition of Housewives? But I'm not going to be negative I still enjoy both season's. NYC seems more stressed than OC. I will love to meet Jill and LuAnn they both seem to have a good heart. Jill is a little controling but I think she means well. LuAnn seems to have a certain class about herself. Over all Jill, Betheny and LuAnn seem's to be real people not housewives.
This show was addictive; I can't believe I watched 5 consecutive episodes.
What a group of "ladies." Jill was my favorite and the most grounded. Luann acted like she was holding her breath until her kids are packed off to boarding school. Bethenny scared me sometimes, especially after a couple cocktails. And she wants to be a mother? Ramona is way over the top. If the show included a Patsy Stone counterpart, she could be the other half of an US Absolutely Faboulous spinoff. She is so unkind to her husband too. Alexandsimon - are they real? They are the most laughable pair of socialclimbers. Do they think all this exposure is going to take them to higher and higher circles of society? That clothing spree in St. Barth's would have paid for a bathroom renovation or central a/c. Cute kids, but out of control. Alexandsimon need to give them a time out now and again.
I love this show, but have to say Jill is one of my favorite characters. She is not only gorgeous but also classy and freaking hysterical! She has beautiful skin and is a great mom!
I by far and large enjoyed the OC housewives so much better. Although they have great wealth they were far more humble than these women! The show with the two kids running around at dinner was too much. Alexs kids were absolute brats and yet the parents just sit there. Proves that money doesn't buy class! They are just so snooty whereas the OC wives were so much more classier.
The OC and NY shows were both "entertaining" but there is something annoying and cold about the NY group. Luann is too uptight about her status. Remember, we all put our pants on one leg at a time! Jill is most likable, but could step off her high horse. Bethenny is too high strung. Ramona is rich White Trash, Alex and Simon are ridiculous. Come out of your closet Simon. Alex, is nothing but false and under the illusion she is attractive and has class. Makes me love my simple but real life!
Oh, if only I could be a housewife in NY! I love Bethanny and "The Countess" -- even Ramona has some redeeming qualities. However, Alex? How can someone so "uppity" not realize how stringy her hair always looks -- or the fact that she looks like she chews on rocks? Dahling, spend some of your cash on your teeth and a makeover!
I have not seen all of the episodes, I hope Bravo will re-run the entire season for some like me. What I have seen is fabulous--love it!
The only thing I have a problem with is Alex and Simon--what a couple of phonies. Their house is a slum,I would be ashamed to let someone in my house if it looked like that. Not only does it need work done, it was not very clean. The act like they are "socialites", but I bet they do not invite anyone they meet at the opera over for dinner at that mess they call home. Could somene ask them that for me? If they are so filthy rich, why don't they hire someone to do the work that needs done?? Alex for sure is not a good mother or a good house keeper. Sorry guys, go back to where you came from. I am sure after this show they will not be welcome to the "Met"for the opening of the opera any longer to "network people" as they said. How low can you go?
Luann, get over yourself, who cares how you get introduced to the driver, you are just a woman who married a man with a cheap title. How do you know if the driver really cares who you are or how much money YOUR HUSBAND has?? As Bethany said "get over yourself"!!!! Too phony for me. Stay home for taco night with your son once in awhile.
Ramona needs to see a therapist. She is just a nut case, I work with a couple of women like you. Your daughter needs a better mom and your husband is crazy to stay with a nut like you. By the way, don't dance in public when you go out, not nice.
Jill, you and Bobby are fantastic!!!!! I would love to meet you, even though I am not rich.I loved seeing you with your sister, that was so nice. I have 4 sisters and we are very close also. We call each other the HENS, a family thing. Even though you are the "Jones'" you just seem more real than the others. Stay away from Ramona, she is nuts. I can see you are a good Mom, and your daughter is adorable. You gave the best meaning of class--making people around you comforatble. If that is true, I have class, even though I don't have money. But money and class do not have anything to do with each other in my world. I know many classy people who are on rich with the love of family and friends. I am sure you agree also.
I hope they bring you ladies back, without Alex and Simon, although they are sort of the comedy of the show. Now they have no class no matter where you live.
GOOD SHOW BRAVO!!!!!!!!! BRING IT BACK
Just ICK! Aside from the Countess, these women have NO class whatsoever.
Bravo found the NYC girls who fit the OC descriptions:
Ramona - Vicki
Bethany - Jo
The Countess - the one married to the baseball player
Alex (the hanger on)- one of several from the OC)
Jill - not pegged. She is actually the best of the "new" bunch. Actually had a husband who showed up to televised events and gave his support. Count who?
I read a review in the Washington Post when the season was starting; said these girls weren't as bad as the OC ladies. Totally wrong - these were worse! Ramona? She and her husband (and poor Averil) must be dying from the shame. And the tanning bed cost? The OC ladies made no bones that they were about looks and money - this group is all about the social climbing. But to where? Best of luck to Alex. Fix your house before you next drop $40k+ in a nothing boutique in St. Barts. The "Countess?" Kind of sad. Fourth marriage; where are his older kids, and why don't one of you spend the night with your son?
Loved Jill's hair - great highlights.
I really enjoyed the show. I couldn't believe LuAnn was appalled by Bethanny introducing her with her first name to the driver. I enjoyed the fact that Bethany agreed that her response was ridiculous. I'm saddened that twice on the show LuAnn's son Noel asked if he could go to dinner with her and she said no. Who knows how many times she's done that off camera. Poor kid, just wants to hang out with his mom. Although, I feel Jill can be a little hoity toity, I do feel that she is a great mother. You can tell that she really loves her daughter. As for Ramona, Avery has turned out fabulous so far. What a great kid! Alex and Simon are uncomfortably close and are way too worried about moving up the social ladder. I agree with Bethany, who cares if Francois can translate something in 3 languages, teach that kid some manners. Finally, I feel that as crazy as Bethany's life is, she still is probably the most accepting of others outside of her normal circle and seems genuinly kind. I do worry that she might have an eating disorder or something b/c during her interviews where she completely faces the camera she looks very skinny and her face seems sunken in.
Real Housewives of NY takes a while to warm to but it is a wittier show than Orange County. As a group the women are insightful about each other but not themselves. Bethany(sp?) needs to realize that marriage will not answer her problems, merely present a different set of them. Ramona has a great daughter and husband let's hope that She appreciates them.
Why, why, why do we watch people with minimal intelligence, wit, and style?
The Housewives of New York should feature women who are aware of the city of their residence. Bravo opted to find Orange County sisters in NYC - the same phylum of obvious consumers of high-priced gee-gaws with no wit or awareness of anything beyond what their checkbooks can buy. They are brash, loud, and vacuous. Bravo Bravo for equating East Coast with West Coast mini-minds.
Failure, lack of scope, trenchant idiocy.
Just finished watching the Season Finale of Real Housewives of NYC -- I waited to give my opinion until I saw the finale -- hoping that some of the housewifes would redeem themselves -- First of all, let me say, that I loved the Real Housewives of OC, despite my best efforts not to like the show, I was hooked. These women were real, sincere, and you got a real look at their fears about kids, marriage, jobs, etc.
On the other hand, The Real Housewives of NYC is embarrassing -- to say the least. Where did you get these women? You scraped the bottom of the barrel to make this show in record time. These women were really pretentious to say the least, and really, where was the class that they all so thought the had? I did not see any in all the episodes -- it was very embarrasing -- As a fan of Bravo and Top Chief, Project Runway, and the Real Housewives of Orange County (a surprise hit, really) you guys surely bombed with this series -- please, seriously, just rerun these episodes and listen to them and watch them, it is surely degrading to anyone from the East Coast -- I wanted to crawl under the couch while watching these "5th grade mentality" women compete against each other -- and their, poor, poor kids!! This is what they are growing up learning? And these families supposedly have money and power? No wonder our world is the way it is. Please take this show off the air, before too many kids see it and think this is the way the world should be and how they should act -- selfish, self-centered, egotistical, pretentious, phony, arrogant, and most of all, revengeful. This show really made me sick -- and I am normally a very sedate, open minded person who would never post a blog against a show -- but this is definitely too much. I will be once ashamed to say I am from NJ and NY.
Ramona is the most immature, scatter brained woman to be seen on TV. Even for good TV, having a "Bethany type" thats funny and interesting is INTERESTING. Ramona on the other hand is a disgrace to woman hood, mothering, and is so starving to be young while regularly trying to dress like a teenager, while dancing in short skirts only revolting everybody from the masses of her cellulite, with sun damaged skin to boot could only be stupid enough think anybody would be interested in buying facial products from a complete idiot shows how oblivious she is to reality!
Ramona is the most narcissistic person every to be revealed on television. Having a "Bethany" type that is funny IS interesting, while Ramona is an embarrassment to woman hood, motherhood, tries to dress like a teenager forever humiliating her daughter, dancing in short dresses revolting us viewers while exposing her cellulite, would be so idiotic to think that anyone would ever be interested in buying facial products from that sun damaged face of hers only cements how stupid and uneducated she is. Where did you find her from? Certainly not classy, sophisticated, society of New York... and..... she's ugly! Inside and Out.
Today I watched the reunion and I was reminded of how offensive and bizarre Ramona is. She has no social skill or ability to function maturely in public.
All the "ladies" seem to have a pack mentality and have cruelly behaved toward Alex.
Alex - you hold your head up and know in your heart they all wish they had your fantastic partnership and marriage, your sweet boys (regardless of the unfortunate acting out at the dinner) and your fabulous figure. YOU should be the model...sorry LuAnn, you do not have the style, grace or looks that compares to Alex.
In closing, I have to say I am appalled by the crass rudeness and lack of sensitivity or any self-censorship by the "ladies", except for Alex, who seems to always try to rationalize the verbal diatribes of the others.
Whatever "pretenses" you and your husband may have, you displayed natural class and kindess at every turn.
I just watched last night the Reunion for NYC and I have to say that Romona acts like a crazed NUT, for someone who is suppose to have class and money, she sure acts like she is straight out of the GHETTO, are you sure this show should not have been titled "Real Bitches of Harlem?" at least when i watch OC i sometimes get jealous and wonder what it is like to have that kind of money, but when i see how Romona acts and portrays herself i'm glad that i dont have to surround myself with that crowd. If i were Alex and someone disrespected me like that and i did not do anything to them, she would have been bitch slapped. My favorite would have to Jill and Luann, I'm real surprised that they let Romona treat people like that and they make no comment to her. And as far as Bethenney, OMG. She also has a little too much to say, she comes off a little nasty and ignorant. Please someone tell Romona she is not that cute and sexy, I hope she felt a little embarrased after watching herself this season. Maybe next season they can try a different state and new woman.
Just finished watching the "recap" show of Real Housewives of NYC. Wow....what a catfight!! If you are showing us women with class - lets be honest, shall we?? LuAnn, Jill and Bethany have c l a s s. Ramona is a barfly with money - lets face it. Although Alex & Simon are getting bashed on this blog site, I must say - they truly seem to love their kids and love one another. Give them a break already!!! Geez! I'm sure after reading some of your blogs and the way everyone talked to them on the Recap Show...they have got the message loud and clear. Luann is a true class act - Jill is salt of the earth and Bethany is built better than all of them put together. All that good food she eats I guess - ha! Anyway...I love the show - at least they arent all "plastics" like the OC - all "lip gloss and barracudas"!
After watching the "reunion" it was sad to see just how truly mentally ill Ramona is. What was sadder was the Host pandering to her and allowing her unacceptable behavior. and will someone please tell what is with her Brittany Spears sitting position, if she got up once more with her legs wide open!!! It was deliberate, as was her lying!
For those who talk about the class of OC, you have much to learn. I have lived on both coasts and I don't know any women like this. I'm sure they are out there and even though I am a professional who is married with children, I am not now and never have and never will be a housewife. How demeaning! I guess this is what happens to you if you see yourself as someone who's main purpose in life is to be a domestic prostitute. How sad. No wonder the men we work with don't get real women!
I love the show and recorded every episode. I have to say after watching it a few times I believe Ramona is misunderstood because of her outspoken nature. She is warm hearted and lively! I love her fiesty spirit.P.S. Mario is a good catch and reminds me of my man-lol
I love all of the ladies except that co-dependant/controlling/creepy hubby we all know who I am writing about-lol I just hope we don't hear about his wife in a ditch somewhere, someday because men like that who love their wives in a no breathing room way are Creepy!
I have watched both shows and must say that I did enjoy the OC ladies the most. The OC ladies seemed to just concentrate on enjoying their friends and enjoying life. They were not that intense.
Now....for the NYC ladies. First of all being an East Coaster myself (a native New Jerseyan), I understand that life in NYC has a different pace than California. The accents are not annoying just regional. I understand why the ladies were not as laid back as the OCers. It's just different.
I think that the problem may have been these particular women. I don't think that they portray true Manhattanites. Manhattanites are more chic, classy and sophisticated. Most people who are used to having money don't emphasize it. It speaks for itself.
Now, my take on each lady?
JILL-Really liked her. Seemed like she had a good heart. Liked her sense of humor.
LU ANN-Was okay, but a little stiff.
BETHENNY-I was rooting for her because she seems to have many internal isssues, but still manages to keep pressing through.
RAMONA-No class at all. Does she even see that her behavior is hurting her daughter?
It's not all about you Ramona. Talk to your child she is trying to tell you something.
How did BRAVO choose this woman.
ALEX-Please do not let this woman & her annoying husband back on for the next season.
Are they for real? New York women are savvy enough to still love their husbands, but also be independent thinking & acting women.
Overall, I didn't hate the show, but ladies please just lighten up a little next season and enjoy your friends more. Life is just too short to bicker so much about trivial things.
OMG, someone take that sweet child away from Romona.
Will there be a second season?
Can you believe the way Ramona walked off the set during the reunion?? What was that all about? It's like she was insulted by something (nude pics of Alex?), but all I can say is Woman - you do nothing but insult others! Ramona is so vain, immature, and inconsiderate - she was my least favorite by far. Jill & Bethany were my faves, but I too do NOT see what B sees in Jason!!! He seems about as boring as can be. But if it's what she wants, I hope she gets it and is happy, doesn't seem like he'll be around much however. I admired Alex & Simon keeping their cool around that nut Ramona. But they should realize they are raising some bratty kids if they don't start providing some limits on their behavior! That Francois screaming and stabbing Jason's hamburger was really disrespectful and A&S did NOTHING to stop him! I just had to cringe when Simon says those kid's names (sorry to be mean). Bravo should include Simon holding the golden "big apple" right along side the girls. And Luann, i'm sorry, you're the what? the 3rd or 4th wife of a "count" - big whoop - don't be so snooty. But Luann is pretty cool. I guess Jill was my very favorite - down to earth for the most part & generous/good heart. Wishing your dau the best with RA. Hope you & Bobby enjoy your cruise and i wish i could go with you!
Oh please come back my girls form the OC, this NY show has definitely shown me why I don't live there anymore... R A M O N A
Even her name is a pain...lol She has to be the nastiest, rudest, person I have ever seen on TV, she should have married Howard Stern, poor Avery, how that poor sweet child must get ridiculed about her psychotic mother. Therapy...that's all I'm going to say...LOL
I would not be upset if Alex would just disappear. She is pretentious and completely unlikeable. Her sad attempts at social climbing are a joke, I've heard that her "job" is part time contract work and that she couldn't get permission to film there because she is not in actual fact a full time employee of theirs, and her dress sense is absolutely criminal. I also found it amusing that her children are named Francois and Johann - what's next? Jaun, Guisseppe and then little Athena? We doing a European tour? How multi-cultural! How hip! I just don't watch her any more - I can;t , really, especially after the seeing the horrifying image of her in a thong - seriously, how does she actually think she looks good like that?
The NYC housewives are my favorite!!!I enjoyed the reunion show tonight. I don't get Alex&Simon yet.. May be next season will add insight. Alex is or was an actress, so maybe this is her way to branch out.Ramona walking off???
Bravo great idea!!Bring them back for another season..
Jill and Luanne definitely the only ones with class. Bethany cracked me up. Simon and Alex.. you both are way to pretentious! You guys are nobodys! Hahaha paparazzi? LMAO Nobody cares for you. How about teaching your kids some manners? I'm embarrassed for you! I do admire your relationship though. Actually I can say I think all of you have great men in your lives. Men here in LA don't compare. Maybe I need to move to NY. Ramona I hope you are working on chilling out.
Wasn't planning on watching, but after the first episode I was hooked. this post is mainly about RAMONA...Believe it or not, she was my favorite and also my husband's favorite. I found her a little off after the first episode but after that, you cannot help but love her. Lets put it this way, only someone with class and warmth and depth, could have raised a daughter like hers, such an intelligent, articulate, sweet child, she was the star of the show in her own right (Avery), I found Ramona to have the most beautifully decorated home among all the other housewives, the most solid, natural marriage and such a wonderful daughter, I thought they came off as the most loving family of all the other housewives. Ramona says what she wants, she is outspoken but so was Jill, I found Jill to be my least favorite, extremely opinionated, very materialistic, she seems like complete opposite of her sister, Go Bethenny for threatening to take her eye out, all the viewers at home were sharing the same sentiments, how dare she make jason feel as though, his gift was not enough, that there should of been something more to follow. Luann to me contradicts her self on a regular basis, first off when the host of the reunion asked her about her nanny's comments about her being with the kids more, she said she must of been referring to her husband (the count), however in the clip, the nanny did not say "I wish Mr and Mrs D. would spend more time with the kids" SHE SAID, "i think MRS.D should spend more time with the kids" obviously if the count is away on business he has an excuse, but what is Luann's for not being home, she puts on nothing more than a faccade, Luann you were not the chosen one Countess- you were the 4th chosen Countess, you said it yourself. Getting back to Jill, her marriage did not feel natural to me, the only discussions they showed them having were about money, not about their day, work, kids, nothing important or sincere. Bethenny was our favorite, had it not been for her and her humor and her puttting everyone in check when need be, the showed would not have been such a success, thanks bethenny for always saying what we wanted you to say.Alex and Simon, I don't even want to go there but I will...I do believe he is gay, I do believe that Alex is aware of it and just does not care. she has been caught in so many lies on the reunion, she had every chance to finally come clean and set the record straigh on some things, but again in the end of the show they both lied again, Bethenny asked about the pictures and if there were any south of florida, she and simon both lied AGAIN, there were indeed photos of her lower region, and if you are not ashamed of it and as simon says "nothing is more beautiful than the naked body" then why deny it. I love these people who claim they are proud, they are this, they are that, but they lie and deny, you only deny and lie when you are completely aware that you are doing something shameful. and to their kids, they failed almost every test given at that school, but forget that, manners come before being blllingual, everyone agreed about him destroying jason's $30.00 burger, but no one commented on what he was using to destroy it, what was that a knife or a fork, god forbid he missed the table, and cut jason's leg open, i mean you cannot always prevent children from doing these things but anyone with class would have stopped him once he began and bethenny even said to simon, "you just let you kids stab at people's dinner" and his answer was "absolutley" how tacky and classless. My last point, and I share this sentiment with many other's who will be boycotting the second season, we were all watching it for the NYC aspect and there are many NYC housewives who i'm sure would have loved to be part of the show, may I please ask whey Alex was on a show titled NYC housewives, she is a brooklynite, please replace her with someone who fits the title of the show. And the show needs to step in every now and then, like on the reunion show, who cares what simon wants to say to defend himself, he is not a housewife, as much as he wants to be, dont you think that some of the other husbands would have liked to be given the chance to defend their wives, but they couldn't so why can he. and to Ramona, you have every write to ask who will be at a dinner party, if some husbands will be there they guess what, you should have the option of bringing yours, why is it ok for you to spend time away from your family but alex can bring her GH
NYC is absolutely hip - more shots of the city would be a wonderful addition. The show is additive to watch - good job Bravo! Whoever picked these women created an interesting mix. Jill is the glue that holds the friendships (or the show) together. The one that needs to be clinically assessed is Ramona. Is this women manic or what? Does Bravo tell her to act so irrationally? If not then she would benefit from a therapist with Abilify samples and not Botox with champagne chasers.
Simon and Alex should try and tone down their pretentions. They live in Brooklyn not the Upper East Side. I also think that some euros should be spent on finishing their home. Who in their right mind buys designer dresses and yet lives like that?
Simon and Alex pleeeease give me a break in Latin, French, Greek and oh so snooty Alex - maybe we can learn to speak in Mandarin! Your new assignment will be to take all those Victoria Secret thongs to China!
Best to NYC from a real Chicago gal where the house has plastered walls, sanded floors and paint. Not difficult - ring a contractor.
The best one on the show is Beth but all of them have to get over them selves, you are all not all that.. but i love the show
RAMONA HAS SOME SERIOUS INSECURITY ISSUES, ALTHOUGH SHE TRIES TO COME ACROSS AS CONFIDENT AND SECURE. MENTALLY, SHE DOESNT SEEM ALL THEIR EITHER. SHE IS RUDE, BEYOND OBNOXIOUS AND I DONT KNOW HOW MARIO COULD WAKE UP TO HER EVERY DAY.
ALEX AND HER HUSBAND MAINTAINED THEIR COMPOSURE ON THE REUNION SHOW SO WELL, AND I GIVE THEM CREDIT FOR THAT. EVERYONE WAS JUMPING DOWN THEIR THROATS...AND HOW SHALLOW AND RUDE TO TALK ABOUT WHAT THEIR HOUSE LOOKS LIKE?? LUANN IS THE REALEST ONE OF THEM ALL......JILL IS A TYPICAL J.A.P ...AND BETHENNY IS COOL, BUT QUITE NEUROTIC!! BUT RAMONA..... UGHHHH SHE IS THE MOST ANNOYING TV PERSONALITY I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE......SHES SO INSECURE THAT WHEN A WOMAN WAS TALKING TO HER HUSBAND, SHE JUMPED OVER TO THEM AND SAID "EXCUSE ME , DO WE KNOW YOU?" "ARE U TRYING TO PICK UP MY HUSBAND"?? A REAL WOMAN AND A CONFIDENT WOMAN WOULD LET HER HUSBAND HANDLE IT HIMSELF.
Gosh, did you see Romona on the Reunion show? When they showed the split screen of her watching herself...the look of total fascination and glee at watching herself was downright pathological. I'll bet she loves to stare in the mirror. Woman has some VERY serious "issues" and baggage. She has the mentality of a 4 year old narccistic child.
Bethany's my favorite and Alex my least favorite on a personal level. But as annoying as Alex and Simon are, it's also like watching the proverbial train wreck with these two.
I also like Jill, as she reminds me of one of my old Newport Beach friends.
Ramona is a little nuts but entertaining to watch and her husband, Mario, is hot, hot, hot!!!
And someone please tell LuAnn, the Countess, that there hasn't been a real monarchy in France since the late 1700's and there has never been one in the USA.
Exactly what is the significance of being a countess, anyway? Countess my ass, I think she's neglecting her children. She goes out to bars with her 23 year old niece? Yes, very high class, LuAnn. Is this a royal trait?
Countess, shmountess. She's so taken with this title that while I started off liking her, now it just makes me laugh because she's so caught up in this countess trip she's on. On the other hand, her kids are cute, especially her son who's taking break dancing lesson from "Cyclone".
RE to Kat... because minority women who have climbed the ladder of success and social standing would not embaraas themselves associating with the likes of Alex or Ramona who are clearly spoiled women with no depth. Because for a woman who is a minority to climb that ladder takes a different level of integrity and self worth. Two women on this show have no such self worth and hide behind their dollars. That's why the only minority women who agree to such displays as these are celebs who did not have to do what minority women in the real world have to do.
The show is a hoot....will someone please buy Alex a BRUSH for God's sake????
My favorite is Bethany...she is the only one of the women (well, maybe Jill) who is not over-the-top pretentious and an out and out snob. She's hilarious. And Bethany my dear? Dump Jason. You can do so much better.
I believe that Betheeny is the only real housewife. She seems to be her own person and doesn't mind letting others' know that. She seems to be realistic, certainly doesn't appear to be sucked in by the 'things' she could buy. She is not ostentatious or doesn't not seem to be presumptuous in what she says and does. The other women are so status- conscious with their private schools, jewelry, who knows a second language etc., etc., . Don't change Betheeny. Having money is great, but it certainly does not buy happiness. faith, love, personality and on and on . . . . .
romona really showed her true colors. She objected to Jill calling her a liar, and then lied to justify all her mistreatments of everyone on the show.
OMG!!!! I cannot believe it but I got hooked on this reality show!!! BUT...apparently there are TWO liars...Ramona is just a joke!!! She made such a scene when she Simon came to the 'girls night out' dinner party (which was weird yes, but still) and for her to lie and say she left because of an ill family member...come on Ramona, you are a joke!! And then there is Alex...OMG...I cannot believe she can deny that she is a Socialite wannabe...that is all she and Simon talked about on the show...and then on the reunion show she totally denied it. She and Ramona should become best friends...neither of them have any class. But LuAnn, Bethany and Jill are very classy!!!
Does anyone know the name of the hotel Alex stayed in St Bart's?
